Julian delivers, not unlike he does when playing with The Strokes. Could have used better lighting on stage, but other than that, perfect gig.
AMAZINGGGGGGG! He put on a great show. His songs are awesome, and he even busted out with a few strokes songs. If only I couldnt have gotten to the front it was a pretty tough crowd to cut thru. We enjoyed you, Julian!
1st band was ok, didn't really get into it. Julian was free kin awesome, can't wait till the Strokes come to town!
Despite an interminable wait for them to come on, Julian and his band performed superbly. Though they didn't play the whole song list from Phrazes For The Young, they definitely played all the right ones. Also, two Strokes songs didn't hurt. The crowd, though surprisingly young, was very enthusiastic, causing Julian himself to remark more than once on their noise, albeit in a positive manner. One of the better concerts I've seen this year.
His performance was absolutely perfect! He rocked it!! I loved every second and only wish that I could go to every show! His best song, of course, was "Out of the Blue." Great show! Can't wait to go to another one!
Me and my girlfriend had an awesome time... Except for the fact they took to long to bring him out !
The show started right on time and the warm up group, Funeral Party, starting the show off great!.. Their performance pumped the fans up and left us prepared to with stand Julian's greatness!! His performance was epic, i would pay any amount of money to watch him perform live again
Other than the over 30 minute setup between bands, and the notably bad opening band, the show was insane. I was bummed they brought out a guard rail to put some distance between the crowd and the stage, but seeing as how someone almost pulled Julian offstage, I guess it was a reasonable action. Overall it was a great time.
Julian is awesome, super cool and funny. He was really friendly and sounded great! It was great to see him in a smaller venue that I would never be able to see The Strokes. My only complaint is that tickets were $30 after all the fees and the show was SHORT! His is "big time" though, so I guess that's all the time $30 would buy with him??? Anyway, still loved seeing him so close and personal!
Julian Casablancas continues to impress me. He sounds better live than on his album. This was the best concert I have been too since The Strokes came to Dallas in 2006. It was a little shorter than I expected, but I was not disappointed.
It was amazing. What are the odds I got to see an amazing show on my birthday....apparently pretty good.
Was a good show. Just can't believe that Julian only played 50 mins. Seems a little short to me.
The overall show was amazing. You could enjoyed everything. To see the music in front of you is utterly wonderful.
I was surprised by the size of his band, but it worked out great. Very bass heavy synths and heavy percussion made the house shake. His voice sometimes got lost in the mix but the band did the album justice. The only downside was the short set and the annoying groupies screaming in my ear. Even Julian seemed annoyed by it. When he was trying to talk, he couldn't be heard over the screeching. He made a side remark that noone was listening to him. I was, and it was great.
This was a great, great show! A bit short, but none the less, very good!
Julian's overall performance was amazing. Aside from the great venue, the music was clear, the lighting was great and of course, his voice was INCREDIBLE.
Julian Casablancas was surrounded by a bunch of young folks , some new listeners and others well ...big time fans. Just seeing his face was blinding, he is such a beauty of a man! His voice caught everyone by the ears and pulled them in, as mine, like no other performer playing at this venue. I cant wait till he passes through Houston yet again.
I find it somewhat odd that a 58-year-old music lover like me absolutely relates to the music of a guy in his 30's, but Julian's solo music is pop genius. I love the Strokes, but didn't immediately click to the songs on "Phrazes for the Young." But now it's my favorite album of the moment. The production is great, and there are so many sub-melodies going on in those songs that I had to hear them live.
Julian Casablancas puts on a great performance with an outstanding supporting band. The tracks of Phrazes for the Young are great and the rare performances of a couple Strokes songs just proves that he is the only irreplaceable part of that band. Great show and highly recommended.
