Judas Priest on Tour

British heavy metal powerhouse Judas Priest has released 22 albums over four decades. They laid much of the groundwork for the heavy music of the 80s with their two guitar attack of revved up blues-based riffs They continue to tour, treating metal fans to extravagant live shows and spirited renditions of their unmistakable anthems. Ticket holders are sure to get to a concert early because they don't want to miss Singer Rob Halford's stage entrance. He emerges from a cloud of fog riding on a Harley Davidson, clad head to toe in leather-studded S&M gear. The band released a live DVD of their Epitaph World Tour in May 2013, which well received and features 23 tracks covering most eras of the bands storied career.

Judas Priest in Concert

The group formed in 1969 in Birmingham, England and released their first album in 1974 entitled Rocka Rolla. This was soon to be followed by Sad Wings of Destiny in 1976, which gained the group a wider audience in the UK. The group's next three albums: Sin After Sin, Stained Class and Hell Bent for Leather were released in 1977, 1978 and 1979 respectively, and showed a band evolving its sound into shorter songs that still retained a heavy metal punch. Next came the album British Steel in 1980, which featured "Living After Midnight", "Breaking the Law" and "United" — all earning regular radio play. Point of Entry was released in 1981, followed by Screaming For Vengeance in 1984, which went double platinum. The 2008 concept album Nostradamus found them pushing boundaries by challenging their listeners to consider how "metal" the man of prophetic talents actually was. Over the next four years the band toured relentlessly and they show no signs of letting up, with an impressive schedule of tour dates on the books for 2014.

Rob Halford showed no real effort at show

by grover1 on 7/17/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I've seen the Priest 4 times now and was disappointed with Rob Halford's performance at the DTE Wednesday night. He simply appeared to just go through the motions wasn't at all into the show.

Solid performance by Priest and 'Snake

by EverlostMI on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Whitesnake took us back in time with Coverdale's piercing vocals and the band's melodic thundering sound. It's a shame they played a short set list. Priest hit the stage with a vengeance! Halford's vocals and the earth shattering guitar work has stood the test of time. It's a shame that playing the entire British Steel took away from the band playing more

David Coverdale and Whitesnake were amazing!

by bapskywalker on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I have been a Whitesnake fan for 25 years and was thrilled to hear they were touring this year. I took my 17 year old niece to the concert as she enjoys their music, too. We traveled 3 hours to the concert coming from Findlay OH. WE only went to the concert to see David Coverdale and Whitesnake and left after they played. No disrespect to Judas Priest...3 hour drive home. We had a great time, they put on a great show. David is an amazing showman! The new band members are very talented and have great stage presence. I have been attending concerts at this venue since it was called Pine Knob! We went to see David...came home happy!

    Metal Masters

by KazooPriestfan on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Priest , as usual , were terrific . I have seen every tour multiple times since the Screaming for Vengeance tour and only once was I dissapointed and that was for the Ram it Down tour . This show was fantastic . They're doing the album British Steel completely right off the bat . Alot of people think that is their best. One thing to note , they are doing the songs in order as it was on the U.K. version so don't be surprised when the songs are played in a different order . Whitesnake was pretty good also although they do a lengthy dual guitar solo and a drum solo and a couple of slower tunes but I suppose the diehard Whitesnake fans (especially the ladies) want to hear the slow ones. The singer David Coverdale was doing some incredible screams , I often wonder if they have some sort of electronic help to do that , because I don't know how they could do that night after night. There was also an opening band that I don't think was listed on the bill but they said they have been on the tour. The only thing is , I couldn't understand the name of the band and I couldn't read it on their t-shirt . A note on them , although the start time was said to be 7:00 this show started at 6:45 and when Priest started I heard a security guy say they were starting about 10 minutes early , I think that was about 9:15 . All in all , it was a pretty good show . I would reccomend it to any Priest fan but if you're going just to see whitesnake you might want to catch them doing a show where they are headlining , so you get a longer performance . They only play about an hour.

    Judas Priest ... wow

by XinZ on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

My mind was simply blown. Hearing Halford's incredible vocal range live was unmatched by anything else. White Snake was alright, but certainly not why I showed up.

In classic Priest fashion, the Band delivered a fine performance of the "British Steel" Album and lifted the Crowd with each passing song. Great Show!

    The Priest still got it

by Warpigz on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The show was great. The crowd sucked !! Whitesnake put on a good show, followed by The Priest. Played alot of oldies, just what i wanted. The venue was about 35% capacity. Extremely poor turnout. As a result, neither band played an encore. Whitesnake never even played Slide It In !? Rob screamed like he did 30 years ago. Freakin awesome !! Disappointed that they didn't play Devil's Child, Headin out to the Highway, Electric Eye, many more. Overall, very good show.

    Judas Priest was awesome!

by chickrocker on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The music and the feel of the beat was incredible. Wish they would have played a few more of the great older songs than more of the newer stuff, but they still sounded great.

Rob Halford's squeals stole the show! This is the 4th time I've seen them and I'd go 14 more times! They can still rock the house after all of these years! JP!

Whitesnake & Priest still have Rock in their blood

by MetalMichiganJulie on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Amazing stage presence by both bands. Because I have already seen Priest in the last 12 months, I was looking foward to seeing Whitesnake much more. They blew me away and Coverdale is still as hot and sexy as ever. All of the songs were fuled with sex and rifts that were unbelievable for a band that has been around for 31 years. My 18 year old was really into it and just love that the teens of today have such an appreciation for music of "yesteryears" . Halford was much more energetic and seemed very into the crowd, almost humbled by the roars of applause. You gotta love when a band shows that much appreciation for their fans. I will see their show again and again! Worth every penny I paid!

Judas Priest and Whitesnake in Detroit

by MarkN on 7/16/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Great show on the part of Judas Priest. They performed all of "British Steel" and beyond that some real choice cuts. "Victim of Changes", "Diamonds & Rust" (different, reworked, uptempo version as compared to their original version), "The Ripper" amongst them. Rob Halford was in good vocal form and the band gave the audience a 1 1/2 hour show at the DTE Energy Music Theater. Whitesnake put on a spirited set with plenty of catalog and a few numbers of their new album "Good to be Bad" amongst the classics. David Coverdale seemed to be struggling with his voice. He did a lot of screaming and had trouble hitting many of the high notes without going into falsetto. He is a consumate front man however.
