Juanes on Tour
When he takes the stage, global megastar Juanes blends the traditional music of his native Colombia with the international language of catchy, guitar-driven pop-rock, contemporary dance beats, and the compelling power of his silky and vibrant tenor voice.
On his 2019 tour, Juanes introduces a new stage set and light show. It follows his 2018 Amarte tour, whose outer-space theme reflected the science-fiction vibe of Mis Planes Son Amarte (My Plans Are to Love You), an ambitious video concept album about love both extraterrestrial and everyday. Juanes launched into the musical stratosphere in 2000 with the release of his solo debut, Fijate Bien (Take a Good Look), which won three Latin Grammy Awards. He's subsequently sold more than 15 million albums worldwide.
Juanes Background
Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez, known professionally as Juanes, was raised in Medellín, Colombia, during drug kingpin Pablo Escobar's violent heyday. After several albums with the rock band Ekhymosis, Juanes went solo with Fijate Bien, which included tracks influenced by Colombian coastal music, hip-hop, and emotional Hispanic balladry.
In 2002, Un Día Normal (A Normal Day) featured "A Dios le Pido" (I Pray to God), a hymn for peace throughout Latin America. Juanes has won 20 Latin Grammy Awards as well as Grammy Awards for Juanes MTV Unplugged (2013) and Loco de Amor (Love Crazy, 2015). While his latest music often touches on disco, reggaeton, and other forms of dance music, it still relies on cumbia, salsa, and vallenato — among other sounds Juanes heard growing up — for its core emotional resonance.
Juanes adds a strong streak of humanitarianism to his music. In 2006, he established the Mi Sangre foundation to assist Colombian landmine victims. In 2008 and 2009, he headlined Peace Without Borders concerts calling for cultural exchange across Latin America. "The world is crazy, if you look at who is running the world now," Juanes told The New York Times in 2018. "It's a very tough moment. But I really want to concentrate on the positive side. To me, music is a cure of my soul."
Great concert, show and theatre! Will definitely do it again
I’ve been to tons of concerts since the 1970s, and this was among the most memorable. Don’t pass up the chance to see Juanes!
Second time seeing Juanes at the Filmore was a gift. To see this genius musician, singer, song writer anywhere is a must, but the intimacy of the Filmore brings this giant to life in a palpable way. His songs; universal themes of love, the pain of loss, anguish of war, all tell the story of what it means to be Colombian. As the crowd sings along to his iconic anthems, inspired by the many rhythms unique to Colombia you will want to learn Spanish (if you’re a gringo/a!) so as not to miss all the fun! The musical acumen of his band is astounding and their sound is distinctive. We left with hearts full of the joy Juanes emanates.
The concert was fenomenal but the place needs better parking.
Two Spanish teachers going to see Juanes in a smaller venue and it was everything we hoped it would be. Juanes sounded exactly how you would want and the show showcased older and newer music. Crowd sang along to a playful performance. Bars and food available on both floors of the venue. We had seats on the top level- just didn’t know if we would want to stand that long. If you’re up too, get a set along the railing or your view may be obstructed by those sitting closer. Overall we were impressed. We’ll certainly go again!
Juanes concert at the Fillmore was beyond words. The venue was the perfect size for an intimate night of the most amazing music. I would 100% see Juanes in concert again!
Great music, vibe and musicians. A bit expensive but sooo worth it!
It was my first time seeing Juanes in concert. He is an amazing musician, singer and lyricist. His energy and connection to the audience was so authentic. He truly is a man of the people who truly appreciates his fans. Can’t wait to see him again.
Juanes is such a talented artist, and his concert did not disappoint. His performance was outstanding!! Great show and can’t wait to see him again.
My wife and I saw Juanes at the Filmore in Philadelphia. The concert started in time. There was no opening act. Juanes played at least 20 songs, maybe more. He played all of his hits. His voice is absolutely perfect and the band played amazingly. This was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.
Me enamora! A great show and beautiful venue. Will definitely return for another show.
