This show was billed as a Latin Explosion. Tito Puente Jr. was the first performer of the evening and he was good. He educated us about his dad’s important legacy and paid homage to Celia Cruz. Jon Secada was uninspiring and did not seem to grasp that it was Saturday night in the summer. He sang sleepy songs like Cabaret and My Way. Picnic at the Pops is usually fun but his performance was boring. It would have been slightly more bearable had he opened the show. We left early and this is not the norm for us.
I would recommend to anyone it was an amazing show
ONLY PLAYED THREE OF HIS OWN SONGS AND THAT IS WHAT I WENT FOR, VERY DISAPPOINTED WOULD NOT GO BACK EVER...
Jon Secada sang all his famous songs and ones he's written for other major artists. He has a passion for singing and it showed in his performance.
Excellent performance. Jon's live sound is just as if you were listening to the "album". Love the SoundBoard venue to see a show.
This show was a disappointment. It felt more like a Vegas nightclub act rather than a grammy award winning superstar that we remembered. His start was rocky, his actions were contrived and he played more songs that didn't belong to him than those that we went to hear.
It was great to hear Jon Secada for the very first time. Thanks to his songs I was able to bring back memories from 20 years ago when I was in high school
My mistake for getting there late. I get used to concerts NOT starting on time and an unexpected opening act. I arrived at 8:45 and therefore missed several songs:(. Along with a beautiful voice , he's also entertaining. I actually liked that the floor was actually seats and controlled so you could sit and listen as opposed to standing the whole time. He does fill in a lot with other artists, ie.earth, wind and fire as well songs he wrote for others.I rather hear ALL his songs that he wrote for himself. He definitely has enough of his own material, which is exceptional, there's no need for all those " fillers". I hope to see him in concert again soon. I'll get there on time!
Jon Secada was great! He took us through his careers with his songs and performance. Very interactive with the crowd and gave us a story behind his songs, writing and broadway. A very humble artist who gracefully gave thanks to all those who had help him through his career. I love it, I saw the performance as a more intimate view of a person who is lucky to have such a great talent and great voice. Some of the band members where local artists that I seem before at Blue Martini and they were great as well. It was a great experience and a well delivered performance.
I was lucky to get front row ticket. He was awesome. He has the voice of an angel
Jon Secada has the voice, passion, talent, energy, great contact with the audience, wonderful music, awesome entertainer, non-stop performer....he just has it all! He is close to his 50 and still sounds like (even better) than 20 years ago when he started his career. His band is so profressional and talented. I've had the opportunity to go to his concerts few times and meet him and his band in personal. NOT only great musicians, but amazing humble people. Jon will not disappoint you..trust me...
Maybe my wife and I would have enjoyed the concert better if he would have actually sang more of his own incredible music instead of Frank Sinatra, Freddy Fender and crap like Blue Spanish Eyes. We are big fans of his own music and were expecting to hear a lot more it. The couple that we went with left in 45 minutes. We have been to a lot of concerts and never have we been so disappointed with a performer. Anyone who says this was a good show does not know Jon Secada's real music and talent. Caesars Windsor.....I would like my money back!!!
Jon has the personality and vocals to fully entertain a diversified audience for 2 hours. Great stage presence and audience rapport. Respects his band members and acknowledges their contribution to his show.
Concert started on time. His performance was excellent and so worth seeing in concert. I wouldn't hesitate to go if he comes back to the Buffalo area. What a voice and the musicians were great also. Very talented bunch.
I went expecting to be entertained, but what I got in return went over the top in terms of a quality performance by the artist and his band. He was unforgettable, and the music was too. He has one of the best voices I've ever heard, and quite a range in his singing and selection of material. He is so dynamic and energetic that the show tantalized from beginning to end. He engages his audience, and sings with depth and emotion. Loved every minute. Glad to know the proceeds went to benefit the Ronald McDonald House in Buffalo too.
I thought the concert was amazing! We sat in the 3rd row and felt as though he was singing directly to us. When he did his last song women lined the stage, He touched our hands! It was incredible. Love you, Jon Secada.
This was the best concert I have been to in a long time (and I have been to quite a few) I will NEVER forget this man and his wonderful voice! I would go back tonight and pay double!!
This was the best concert I have ever been to. Jon Secada was terrific and he has the voice of a dedicated artist. His songs are from the heart and it comes out when he sings. We had tickets to see him in San Diego but the concert got cancelled so we were really excited that he was going to be at Delta Downs in February 2010. I have always looked forward to seeing him live and I would go again in a heartbeat!!!! He was GREAT!! If you every in your life want to go to a concert but not sure who to see....go see Jon Secada, it was so worth the money for the tickets, I would have paid 3 times the amount to attend this concert.
He still sounds exactly as he does in the studio! Jon's setlist covered all the hits and fan-favorites, I do wish he played Mental Picture from the soundtrack to the motion picture The Specialist, but I knew pretty much all the songs he chose. The stage show and effects were a little cheesy - but it's Louisiana and a racetrack stage - so what can you expect. Really glad to have seen him live - you will not be disappointed with his voice!!
