What a intimate, beautiful evening of music. I was lucky and got the third able on the floor, dead center. I was surprised to see only a microphone, guitar and a keyboard set up on the stage. I thought Jon was going to be backed by a full band. Jon walked onstage to huge applause. If you are a fan, you know about his health problems the last couple of years, but I was still a little shocked at how thin and seemingly frail he looked. But once he picked up the guitar all that went away. His voice was strong and as beautiful as ever, and he was in great spirits. He sang a lot of Yes material, only it was different hearing him play those songs on guitar. It was a nice mix of Yes music, solo material and some new songs. He played guitar, ukelele, and a third string instrument that I don't know it's name. After a few songs, I realized he was doing this show solo. About 3/4 through, he moved to the keyboard and did a beautiful medley of some classic Yes, combining Close to the Edge with The Revealing Science of God. At one point, the audience cheered loud and long, stopping the show, and Jon seemed really touched. He played for and hour and a half, and seemed tired at the end. To see this great artist and man in this type of setting was an amazing experience. If he plays near you, this is a must see performance. God Bless you Jon, stay healthy and thank you for so many years of amazing music.
