About

Johnny Reid on Tour

When Johnny Reid introduces a song, his natural Scottish burr is plain as day, but as soon as the Canadian country star — who moved to Canada as a kid — starts to sing, the North American spirit inhabits him. Reid's voice is full of classic country twang, but at the same time it bears a gruff brand of soulfulness that can sometimes make him sound like a country version of Bruce Springsteen. The band pumping away behind him sports a similar mixture of musical flavors, bringing a dash of rock 'n' roll and soul to Reid's countrified tunes. Never one to put on airs, Reid brings a guy-next-door vibe to his performances, no matter how big the venue, and even when he's got the crowd singing along in an arms-aloft anthem, he still has a way of maintaining an intimate connection with his audience on every song.

Johnny Reid in Concert

When Johnny Reid was a child in the small Scottish town of Lanark, it would have seemed incredibly unlikely that he would grow up to become a Canadian country music star — but that's exactly what he did. Reid was 13 when he and his family made the move to Canada, and it didn't take long for him to soak up the North American vibe that would one day guide his career. In 1997 Reid released his debut album, Another Day, Another Dime. It wasn't until his third album, 2005's Born to Roll, that things really began to take off for Reid; the single "Gypsy Soul" hit No. 12 on the Canadian country charts, and the album eventually went platinum in Canada. Solidly on the path to stardom, Reid went on to score a long string of hits in the years to come. In the process, he also managed to rack up an astonishing number of honors, including multiple Juno awards, and a towering heap of awards from the Canadian Country Music Association.

    The best I've ever seen

by dbrockle on 10/3/10Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

He performs and writes his music from the heart! As he said when asked how he became a country singer - I'm whatever you want me to be - he covers all genres. I'd go every opportunity I could.

This was the 6th time that my husand and I have seen him. He just keeps getting better everytime. He is one singer that sounds just as good if not better in concert as he does on his cd's. And you can't say that for very many singers now a days. Love you Johnny!

    Johnny Reid Concert

by three1 on 9/22/10Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This was an awesome concert. Johnny gives you 100% during his performance. I think everyone at the concert had a good time and were in awe of him. If you get a chance to see him go to one of his concerts. The Jubilee is a great place to listen to him as the sound quality is so good.

Johnny Reid really performs for his fans!

by Susyq62 on 9/19/10Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Amazing. He shows so much interest in the crowd and is so genuine . He connects with people of all ages and makes himself accessible to everyone. I couldn't believe it when he would stop to bend down and shake hands with people who came down the aisles to see him. When he talks about where his songs come from, it makes them that much better.

    Johnny Reid was fabulous

by tidalwave65 on 9/17/10Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I would recommend Johnny Reid to anyone. He is warmhearted, engages the audience and I loved his little stories in between his fabulous performance of his songs. Next time he comes to Edmonton I am ordering front row seats. It was so adorable to see him bring up a young child on stage and have him dance with his back up singers and to see him kiss a disabled person. As I am disabled as well I thought that was a wonderful display of his character. The only disappointment I have was when he went into the audience he did not come up the stairs in the middle on the main floor to the very back where I was sitting in the disabled area. I would have loved to shake his hand, but that was my personal wish as it was fantastic of him to go up in the balcony. All in all Johnny Reid is fabulous and I would see him over and over again. Love you Johnny Reid.

Johnny Reid was amazing. Only thing that wasn't Great. Was that the intermission of 30- 45 minutes was too long. People where not prepared for that, waiting impatiently.

    Johnny Reid Has My Heart

by YoungandAlive on 9/15/10Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Saw my first Johnny Reid Concert on Monday night and I am a new fan - hook line and sinker. First he grabbed my interest then he grabbed my heart! It was by far the best concert I have attended. His music made me laugh, then want to dance and at one time even made me cry. He is good man and a great entertainer. Not country, not soul, just great, great music. Will definately be at his next one!

    Johnny Reid was excellent!

by Applet on 9/15/10Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I bought my wife tickets to see Johnny for her birthday, but told her I wasn't going, because i didn't really like his music that much... I was wrong. When her girlfriend backed out at the last minute, i was the natural "Shoo-in" to go, so i did. He is a great stage performer and his music... well, it will grow on me, i'm sure! We weren't very impressed with the 45 minute wait following the opeining act, who only performed 4 short songs, then vacated the stage. It made the beginning of the Johnny Reid performance a little "grey".

    Johnny Reid was very entertaining.

by Dino63 on 7/26/10Enmax Centrium - Red Deer

The concert was unbelievable. He made everyone in the audience a part of the show. He went out into the audience and shook peoples hand and hugged some and even danced with some. He also let everyone in his band have a solo and roduced them. He even played one song by himself. For the price of $30.00 he was fantastic.

    John Reid

by Rhettalynn on 7/25/10Enmax Centrium - Red Deer

I love John Reid's music but was actually disappointed with the show in Red Deer. Instead of singing the classics, reason why I went, he sang mostly new songs (most of which I didn't care for). The only new one that I really liked was the one about his grandmother. John Reid was more interested in having a solo performance of each of his band members than singing. Yes, his band members are extremely important but people paid to hear HIM sing. When John Reid said that instead of singing "Kicking Stones" he was going to sing a new song, he should of realized that when the people were screaming "Kicking Stones" that was what people paid to hear and sang that song instead. I guess I'll just have to stick to listening to his CD's!
