About

Country singer John Michael Montgomery has been treating fans to his earnest, heartfelt music for over 20 years. With 18 million albums sold and 15 No. 1 singles, Montgomery has established a style rooted in his impassioned delivery, wonderful storytelling and rich baritone voice. A ticket to a Montgomery concert is like a chance to reconnect with an old friend. The singer tells stories and plays songs that span his entire career, from early hits like his 1993 crossover success, “I Swear,” through more recent tracks, like "Forever" and "Mad Cowboy Disease" off his 2008 album, Time Flies. He even throws in some more recent work, like his 2013 collaboration with Colt Ford, Ride Through The Country, which also featured Ronnie Dunn and Joe Diffie.

Montgomery’s career started back in the early 1990s, playing dive bars in his hometown of Danville, Kentucky, until the day Nashville came calling. With the release of his 1992 debut album, Life’s A Dance, Montgomery immediately rocketed into country superstardom, with a No. 1 hit, “I Love the Way You Love Me," which a considered a timeless country classic. He followed it up with "I Swear" and the whimsical "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)," which were the Billboard Country Singles Of The Year for 1994 and 1995, respectively. Montgomery also showed his serious side with powerful numbers like "The Little Girl," a song he wrote for his daughter, and 2004’s "Letters From Home," his tribute to the troops, featuring actual recordings of soldiers' messages to their families. Recent years have seen Montgomery slow down a bit, but he will be going on tour throughout the US in 2014 and has recently announced that new music is on its way.

    WOW!

by Cthomp07 on 5/24/23The Amp at Log Still - Gethsemane

This is the first concert I’ve attended where I knew all of the songs! It took me back to the 90s and he sounds exactly the same! I can not wait to attend another John Michael Montgomery performance!

    John Michael Montgomery Show

by Johny Fastball on 5/16/23The Amp at Log Still - Gethsemane

John and his band are the consummate country band…… very tight and professional while, at the same time, warm and engaging with his fans. We really enjoyed listening to all of John’s hit songs. The venue (Log Still Distillery - The Amp) was very nice and the team there did a great job! All and all, we had an awesome time!

We got great seats but there probably weren’t any bad seats! The music was great but could have played longer. Really great show!

by Deebee on 5/15/23The Amp at Log Still - Gethsemane

John Michael Montgomery sounded as good as he did almost 30 years ago! That man can still sing his songs just like he did back then…. We enjoyed this concert immensely!!! Loved singing along with him.

    Great Concert! Great Location!

by KyGirl on 5/15/23The Amp at Log Still - Gethsemane

John Michael Montgomery didn't disappoint. The concert was great. The opening band Shane Dawson Band was great too. Dants Crossing is a beautiful location for concerts. Will definitely go back again. Would like to see more food choices but other than that no complaints.

    The Amp

by DebbieB on 5/15/23The Amp at Log Still - Gethsemane

John Michael Montgomery did not disappoint! He played every song that i loved and even a few new ones to get to enjoy. It was a perfect night outside and the venue was really nice. We never attended a concert at The Amp and it was much better than we expected. Seats were good and you could hear and see the music even when you were getting drinks.

    Needs a little work

by Steph on 5/15/23The Amp at Log Still - Gethsemane

The parking process needs a ton of improvement. It’s very unorganized and hard to get in and out. The entrance process is also very unorganized. They need to have a smoother process. The line to get drinks is ridiculous!! You literally have to wait 20 minutes for 2 lines and then they run out of drinks and serve you hot bottled water. Also, they could use more than 1 decent bathroom.

    Shortest Concert in History

by Mark O on 3/27/23Effingham Performance Center - Effingham

Love JMM. Concert was lackluster and over in an hour and 15 minutes. Seemed like he sung his top 10 songs and split. Great voice. Would loved to hear the second half of the concert some day. He lost more than 1 fan that night.

    Fun while it lasted.

by RedHead7 on 3/27/23Effingham Performance Center - Effingham

The show was fun while it lasted. For a man who has 36 released singles and 7 #1s, you'd think he could play longer than 1:15. For those of us who drove 2 hours to get to the show and 2 hours back, I'm not sure it was worth it.

    JMM was Great!

by Patty on 3/27/23Effingham Performance Center - Effingham

As far as the venue, there isn't a bad seat in the house! JMM interacted with the fans. Played all the songs I remembered and loved. A definite must see.

    Hasn't missed a beat!

by Casey on 3/27/23Effingham Performance Center - Effingham

A refreshing break from smoke and lights and too much sound - simple band, simple songs - no muss, and no fuss. Straight-forward walk thru JMM's hits and other songs which he liked from his career. Backing band was great - super venue - was a superb experience!

    Great performance

by omalley82 on 3/27/23Effingham Performance Center - Effingham

John Michael Montgomery put on a great show! 30 years later and he still sounds like he cut the album yesterday. The venue is great as there isn't a bad seat in the house. However, there were a few middle aged ladies that behaved like they hadn't been out of the house in a very long time that chose to stand and dance in the middle of the crowd blocking the view for a lot of people. That was frustrating but not the fault of the performer by any means, maybe should have fallen on the venue to ask them to be seated as this is more a type of theater seating and felt bad for the older folks that didn't want to stand to see around them.
