    Rocked the Ryman

by BayRumGuy on 8/9/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

I have seen this band a LOT of times. They always do a great show but I think the one at The Ryman was the best I've seen! Don't miss them. They do a limited number if shows a year and have been out there FIFTY years. So don't wait!

    Blast from the past

by majictravi on 8/8/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

The opening act was John Kay himself doing a solo set of blues songs. The main show consisted of all the hits one expects from Steppenwolf. John Kay made a few remarks before most songs and toward the end of the show introduced several behind the scenes members that have been with the group through the years. A video played behind the band during most songs and it was interesting to see present John Kay sync up with an image of young John Kay. After such a great performance it is hard to imagine what a Steppenwolf show would have been like in their prime.

This was an excellent concert. John Kay was excellent with his acoustic set and the rest of the show was great as well.

John Kay & Steppenwolf Awesome Show!

    by DannyP55 on 8/8/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

John Kay & Steppenwolf show was awesome. The show was very tight and put together well. Steppenwolf has lost nothing over the years. A lot of todays acts could learn a lot from this artist. While there was some flash to the show it had its place and did not interfere with the overall flow of the show. The crowd was awesome, well behaved, and respectful of the artist .Kay acknowledged all the members of the band over the years and all of the crew as well as those who helped him over the years Kay was in fine voice and seems to have lost nothing when it comes to performing. Having never seen one of Steppenwolf 's shows I was skeptical at first, having purchased tickets to the show to attend at the recommendation of a friend. It was money well spent.

    Total dissapointment !

by Boatmandude on 8/8/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Being a fan of the music and not being aware of the artist political views was my mistake. This is the first of literally hundreds of concerts I have attended that I left in total disgust I paid to be musically entertained not to hear the political views of some has been performer if these idiots intend on spewing their political views at a show they should include that in the byline. If you support our President DONALD J. TRUMP then stay as far away from this show as you can get.

by EarleG on 8/8/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Great concert with excellent sound! This is the second time seeing Steppenwolf with original being in 1968 or early '69. John and band sounded terrific! The person doing the sound was excellent!

    John Kay

by TomEm on 8/8/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

The first hour was John Kay singing solo .. never heard any of the songs before (boring). The second hour was the band playing loud unfamiliar music. And by the start of the 3rd hour, our patience grew thin and we left knowing we would miss the songs we came to hear. Very disappointing.

    Glad I Went!

by wpippin on 8/8/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

I've been a fan of Kay since the late 60's. He's not like the bad ass image portrayed from the Born to Be Wild days. He's acts most personably and he projects a wonderful report with his audience. He introduced all members of the crew, his family, and some former band members. I even chatted with his daughter in the lobby between sets. He opened with an acoustic solo set, which was marvelous. When the band played the volume was just right and it didn't leave me with ringing ears and a headache. The music stood on it's own without the need for a lot of glitz and special effects, although the visuals and graphics were impressive. Played The Pusher for an encore.

    by Rabbit11 on 8/8/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

John Kay was on point along with the other members of Steppenwolf. These guys did not miss a beat. Music and lyrics were great!!! Felt like I was listening to them 50 years ago. If you get a chance to see them live, do not miss it.

    Steppenwolf

    by WRW55 on 8/8/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

All In All it was a good show. The acoustic set was great. The Beginning of the full band set and ending was great. Some of the Middle songs could have been different.

    Steppenwolf was boring

by Doggietime on 8/8/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Having the old guy play a guitar like Peter, Paul, And Mary for 45 minutes was horrible. Steppenwolf finally came on and did not play their hits. You could tell the audiance was not into them at all. We left about 9:45. Had enough

    Good show

by ChefsWife on 8/8/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

The show started off a little slow but in the end did not disappoint. They still got it after all these years. So glad I got to see them because I never did back in the day.

It just doesn't get any better!

by Barklessdog on 8/8/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

For fifty years I've been a fan of Steppenwolf. Have almost every album - CD - recorded since '68. I've had the privilege to see them in concert many times and this was my second "Wolf Fest". The performance put on by the group at the Ryman is by far the best experience of my 62 years on this rock!
