I don't know how to properly review having seen John Carpenter performing his film scores and recent Lost Themes live. With son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies, and backed by a bassist, drummer and rhythm guitarist, John and co. expertly translated his scores and solo work into a live setting. Songs like the Escape from New York Main Theme and Big Trouble In Little CHINA main theme were given extra bite due to Daniel's blistering guitar work, while recent numbers like Night and Vortex were all ethereal horror synth brought to life. An unforgettable evening that I won't soon forget.
Wonderful and masterful performances...from start to finish it was quality. The timing impeccable and movie sequences beautiful, seems like they rehearsed and planned for it perfectly. John introduced his songs just in the right way. "They Live" had as especially great sequence with even the musicians all putting on the shades. A great representation of all of John's body of work including his Lost Themes catalogs....easily in my top concerts of the year.....Keep the shows coming John! LA loves you.
John Carpenter's music rocks in his movies and sounds even better live. Awesome, awesome show.
John's performance at the Fox Theater in Oakland was a night I'll never forget. To see my favorite director perform some of his more iconic scores from his most beloved movies was a real treat. Don't walk but run to see him live in your area!
This is a must see if you are a John Carpenter Fan, seeing him and his band play live with the movie that his music score is playing too on the big screen behind them really super cool.
This was an incredible experience that I would highly recommend. It's sad to think it might have been a once in a life time show.
