About

JOE SATRIANI IN CONCERT:

Joe Satriani’s virtuoso guitar playing is more than just flawless technique and blistering speed -- he also forms an emotional connection with fans that is beyond words. His genuine love of riff-based rock ensures that audiences are in for a sonic thrill ride at his live shows, where his nimble fingers and finely tuned ear bring his ballads to life. While “Satch” (as friends and fans refer to him) turns melodies inside out and shreds up a storm, his cast of astounding supporting musicians keeps the grooves solidly rocking throughout six-string stunners like “Surfing with the Alien”, “Satch Boogie”, and “Flying in a Blue Dream”.  Ticket buyers are in for a transcendent instrumental experience that can't be beat, featuring a brilliant musician in impeccable form.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The highest-selling instrumental rock guitarist of all time, Joe Satriani was born in Westbury, NY in 1956. Before he gained fame, Satch made a living teaching some of the most influential guitarists of the ‘80s, including Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Steve Vai (David Lee Roth), and Larry LaLonde (Primus). His solo career took off with the hits “Always with Me, Always with You” and “Satch Boogie” off his 1987 album Surfing with the Alien. He kept his hot streak alive with his next two albums Flying in a Blue Dream (1988) and The Extremist (1992), which both went gold. In 1996 Satriani started the G3 Tour with friends Steve Vai and Eric Johnson to bring instrumental guitar music to the masses. In 2008 Satch joined forces with former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar (vocals), Michael Anthony (bass), and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to create the supergroup Chickenfoot. While those projects keep him crazy busy, Satriani still continues to tour -- bringing venues like Warner Theatre to capacity -- and record as a solo artist, releasing Unstoppable Momentum in 2013.

    Unique, amazing artists!

by Scooter1 on 5/1/24The Astro - La Vista

Joe and Steve Vai put on a display of talents that showed why they are in a class of their own. This was my third concert with Joe and first with Steve. Although it's easy to hear their individual differences in style and nuance, their synergy together fit perfectly. I consumed no alcoholic or other substances to get a huge high from being around such amazing, unique music. Their accompanying artists were also tight to perfection. All performed while showing love and pride in their craft.

    If you're into instrumental

by SJF on 5/1/24The Astro - La Vista

I'm a Satriani fan -- 10 CD going way back. I wasn't disappointed. He's proficient, rhythmic and lyrical. If he came by again, I'd be tempted to go again.

Satch and Vai were outstanding. It’s a treat to see such accomplished players seemingly effortlessly perform. Come back soon please! The Astro is a great venue. Smart layout. Little congestion. Easy to navigate.

The Astro is a great new venue and Joe Satriani brought out all its shine!! He is a virtuoso and it showed. One of the best shows I have seen recently. When he and Vai played together at the end I felt i had died and gone to rock and roll heaven!

    Some serious shredding

by Fan on 5/1/24The Astro - La Vista

Satch & Via two of the best shredders on stage together. Very little vocals and lots of guitar mastery. Great show!

    Vai Satch

by SeattAl on 4/30/24State Theatre - Minneapolis

loved the performance and venue, but the Mains Volume was Waaaay to Loud (mostly high freq and mids, Bass was ok). I moved to the back, used earpplugs, still too loud. I've been to at least 100 concerts, and this was the only time I left early because of excessive decibels. it just didnt need to be this way

    Vai/Satriani Concert

by BlueSocrates on 4/27/24State Theatre - Minneapolis

Steve Vai opened the show displaying his mastery of the guitar, and his technique is flawless. Every time I see him he and his band are on their “A” game. Joe Satriani was incredible out of the gate and played many of his biggest songs. The last time I saw him was in support for his “Flying in a Blue Dream” album, and this show rivalled that show. His band was on fire, and helped push him to stretch his abilities to their fullest. For the third act, Steve Via joined Joe Satriani’s band for some blistering cover tunes with extended back and forth solos. This was an incredibly enjoyable show, and I can’t wait for them to come back!

Went with my son to see my two guitar heroes on one stage! True virtuosos! If don’t know what they are doing it is amazing. If you do, it is other-worldly! Thank you Joe and Steve for a lifelong commitment to music. We are blessed by your talents.
