    All Star Rock Tour 2011

by mosquitoman27 on 6/7/11Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

The overall concert was good. Rating the concert from 1 to 10, 1 being bad and 10 being amazing i would give it a 6. John Cafferty still has some moves and sounds great, Deep purple closed out with Smoke on the Water which was awesome and sounded great. The Mahhaffey Theater is an amazing place for a concert, the acoustic sound is awesome. The opening bands, i personally felt Anita Prime was both talented and sexy, she could work the crowd and blow some killer notes. Her band was about the same, they had a very sexy feel / sound and major props to the drummer and bass player. Then a chick band came out which all looked to be no older then 19 years old. They played some good covers. I give major props to the lead guitarist and drummer for jamming out some REO speedwagon and Rush. Lead vocalist needs some work but she sounded ok, I was waiting for her to really cut lose because you could hear she had it, but was afraid to use it.

    awesome!

by ginnyh on 6/7/11Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

All of the bands were great, had a wonderful time! Definitely would go see them again. The last band was a little more interactive in getting everyone to stand and sing along but overall all the bands were really good and definitely put on a great show. If this was advertised a little better the theater would have been sold out, lucky for us we had lots of room to dance and sing along. Unfortunatley for many people they missed out on a great concert.

    All Star Rock Tour 2011

by BocaAce on 6/7/11Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

It was excellent ! The two warm up bands were very good. One was all girls and the other had a lady lead singer who had a great voice. The All Star Band was great everything from Keep on Smilin and Dancing in the Moonlight to My Women from Toyko. When they did On the Dark Side the fans went wild. I highly recommend the concert, like they say Oldies but Goldies, the best !

    They can still rock!

by DuckyBoyJones on 6/7/11Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

The start was a little uneven with a few technical problems with the warm up band's equipment but after the All Stars took the stage, the wandering roadies were quickly forgotten as the main act powered through 2 1/2 of great music. McCafferty and Turner both showed amazing energy. The performers all loooked like they were having fun and the rest of us enjoyed the ride. I had my doubts about how well an "All Star" band would work. I am happy to say that I was wrong. They were outstanding!

    All-star Rock Tour

by pedalmaster on 6/7/11McHaffey Theater - St. Petersburg

Generally disappointed with the first two warm-up acts. They were sub-professional and not advertised in the original concert flier. We were expecting to see they guys from Orleans as well as Joe Lynn Turner, etc. What we got for the first hour was two terrible acts that were a complete waste of time. A ton of time was wasted between the two acts juggling equipment and de-bugging equipment problems. Once the real act began (at almost 10 pm) we were very happy with their performance. Thoroughly enjoyed the guys from Orleans, Dupree and Turner. Lose the first two lame acts and give us two solid hours of the real thing. By the way, you may want to disclose those first two acts so that other patrons are forewarned.

    All-Stars ?

by Mamaluke77 on 6/7/11Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

Went solely to see Joe Lynn Turner, who did not disappoint, but the overall show was awful save for JLT and John Cafferty and his energy. How can you call this an All Star Rock Tour when it was not all stars nor really rock ? I felt as if I was in my Dentist's office for most of the show, which started with two well below average "openers" (including an all- girl cover band who looked like teens playing dress up). Why would you make people sit through Robbie Dupree singing five songs and John Ford Coley singing over his little keyboard AFTER having everyone on their feet from Turner and Cafferty ?? Just a poorly devised, horribly run and BORING night. Joe Lynn Turner can hold a crowd by himself and certainly does not need this group of almost weres and never beens on a bill with him. Turner and Cafferty could have filled the night with Rock and Roll without the rest. All Stars: NO; Rock and Roll: ABSOLUTELY NOT

    Painful to sit through

by WishingIStayedHome on 6/6/11Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

Four of us went to the concert. I was thrilled to be center stage, just a few rows back, until it started...the warm up acts were awful. When the main event began, it had a few minutes out of over 4 hours that were tolerable. I wish I was like the many people who walked out during the performance. It was very unprofessional and didn't flow.

    EDDIE, EDDIE, EDDIE !

by bonjo639 on 6/6/11Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

The show without a doubt had some of the best rockers alive......one of which has been my all time favorite for about 30 years, having said that, the show needed alot more John Cafferty , 3 songs from all the hits, he's had was way tooooo little. So next time around more....... CAFFERTY, CAFFERTY, CAFFERTY. Or a show with John & the Beaver Brown Band would be a sell - out Also , the opening acts were great....Anita Prime, & also The Sirens....these ladies ROCK!!!! LOVED THE SHOW.....GO AND SEE IT WHEN IT GETS TO YOU!!!!!!

Spectra Records All Star Rock Tour 2011

by GregL on 6/6/11Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

The show ROCKED! The lead guitar player was amazing. They said he was from Florida, but couldn't catch his name. Does anyone know who he is? Would definitely love to hear him play again!
