  • JJ and the BB at Keswick

Very good show. The musicians were superb and complemented each other well. The guitar sounded muddy at times, though. Some of the vocals could have been tweaked louder, especially during the Ellington numbers. Joe always has a way of making his songs sound fresh.

  • JJ In Top Form With Superb Band

by folkfanatic on 9/20/12Keswick Theatre - GlensideRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent concert! Wonderful mix of new material from The Duke and classic Joe Jackson songs. Joe seemed rejuvenated and really enjoying performing, and the mix with band was great .... loved the solos and extended versions.

  • JOE IS A PERFECTIONIST

A GOOD MIX OF NEW AND OLD AS ALWAYS VERY GOOD SHOW

  • Solid music, but rather mellow for my taste

Nice mix of old and new stuff with the new Duke stuff mostly happening within the first hour. The musicians were solid, and the wonderful mix if instruments, tuba, banjo, squeezebox, added to the enjoyment. Call me old school, but I expect Joe to rock out once or twice a night and that didn't happen. Even on Sunday Papers, the toned down guitar and the fact that he never moved out from behind his keyboard (all concert) kept the crowd seated. I hope he has one more rocking tour before he packs it in..

  • Best Joe Jackson Show Ever

by EricL on 9/20/12Keswick Theatre - GlensideRating: 5 out of 5

This is the 4th time that I've seen Joe and by far the best concert he's done. He found a way (no opening band, for one thing) to include all of his classic songs in with the new big band/jazz stuff that's on his new album 'The Duke". And while this bigger band added superb violin playing and extra percussion and keyboards, he didn't mess with the tempo of his classics by slowing them down or changing their style at all. So what we got was a full 2-hour show with superior big band style music with Joe's unique style and voice, and superior Joe classics with only added instrumentals jazzing them up a little during solos. You really couldn't ask for a better Joe Jackson show than this one!

Joe Jackson justs keeps out doing himself, every time I see him. The show was outstanding! His band was top notch, as usual. The ceativity and enthusiasm is still there, after all these years.
