Still so good after all these years...

by junebug on 10/2/19Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa

Wow. What a great show. So many good songs from a great era. Poco, Buffalo Springfield and Loggins and Messina. And what a great voice Jim Messina still has. I love the Uptown theatre. Such a nice small venue.

    Messina is a Guitar Master

by IGlow on 3/21/18The Rose - Pasadena

From the moment the band walked onstage, the adoring fans in the intimate audience were treated to one musical treasure after another. Having Buffalo Springfield, Poco, Loggins & Messina & his own awesome musical catalog to choose from made for an evening that will forever rank among my favorites. Jim is a master on his guitar. He has taken good care of himself so his voice remains a beautiful instrument as well. Every single band member can hold the spotlight on their own & Jim shares it well. Their jams are spell binding. He asked us if we were having fun & we answered with applause & various verbal accolades. Even though it was OBVIOUS that Jim (& the band) was having fun as well, I hollered back & asked if HE was having fun. He very graciously addressed my outburst! He proceeded to hold us spellbound for nearly two hours I believe. I am thrilled that Jim is touring again. They are on a well deserved break now after ending this tour with a series of spectacular shows in Southern California but if we're lucky he will tour again. If he comes anywhere within traveling distance of you, I highly encourage you to make it a point to see him. You WON'T be disappointed! Jim VERY generously continues to thrill his fans after the music ends by signing autographs & taking photos with all who are willing to wait.

by WLADude on 3/20/18The Rose - Pasadena

I always thought Jim Messina was the better half of Loggins & Messina. After last Saturday, I still do.

by gcuest on 3/19/18The Canyon Santa Clarita - Santa Clarita

Another weekend of fun music w/ JIm Messina (of Buffalo Springfield, Poco and L&M) performing a great set at The Canyon, SCV. Venue, sound and musicianship all top notch, but the chance to meet and talk? As they say priceless! Thanks Jim, for the lifetime of music and memories.

    Good ol’ Jimmy

by JohnP8 on 3/18/18The Canyon Agoura Hills - Agoura Hills

He played some good old deep tracks and of course his favorites. The harmonies were amazing. These guys are very good together. I enjoyed it tremendously. This is the third time I’ve seen Jimmy in the last five years and this was his best so far.

by SeasonedGuy on 2/14/17Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

His voice is smooth and as good as ever. Instrumentally the group was tight, very cool combo of instruments, nice sound. Great stories from Buffalo Springfield and Poco...this guy was there.

by PSMarineMom on 2/14/17Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

If you're a Jim Messina fan...or a Buffalo Springfield, Poco or Loggins & Messina fan, you will have the time of your life. Jim plays songs from all of his bands, plus some solo material. His voice is strong and his band is fabulous.

A Musical Journey Down Memory Lane

by Pianobaby on 8/10/12House Concert - Los Angeles

Jim Messina's summer concert tour was nothing short of exceptional. In a small intimate outdoor setting, under a full moon, we were treated to 16 songs from Buffalo Springfield, Poco, Loggins & Messina, along with a few new songs. Messina's solo version of "Angry Eyes" was the best I had ever heard. Other favorites included "Better Think Twice," "Watching the River Run" and "Changes." After the show, Jim signed CD's and took photos with concert attendees. It was a night to remember.

    Jim Messina concert

by DMHenrie on 7/22/12Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

Though Jim and band did a wonderful job on stage. I really loved their jam sessions. The crowd at Penn's Peak was minimal, so I am sure it was tough for the band to get UP for the occasion, but they did. Good job

Jim Messina - the consumate musician

by REDrouge on 12/15/11Wellmont - Montclair

Saw Jim last night at the Wellmont in Montclair last night.....................as fabulous as ever!!! Buffalo SPringfield, Poco, Loggins and Messina and now on his own. His music just wraps you up like a warm blanket on a cold night. WOuld love to see him perform again with Kenny Loggins. Those two just bounce off each other in an incredible way. America was OK, but JIm stole the show!

Great show with very poor opening acts

by rbcarleton on 8/16/10Coach House - Capistrano - San Juan Capistrano

I saw the Jim Messina show thursday at the Canyon Club with my wife and enjoyed both Jim Messina as well as the Shoemaker Bros. opening act, so much so that I got tickets to the show at the Coach House to take my son and some friends. Jim Messina again was great but we had to endure 4hours of horrible opening acts. First there was an former member of the Byrds. I guess long enough to say he was but not long enough for anyone to remember, as well as some guitar player who was really fast but not entertaining, This coming from a former fan of John Fahey and Leo Kotke. Then there was a lady named J D Peterson who came with a large crowd of fans who cleared out as soon as she finished. She wasn't bad, if she had been the only opening act it would have been ok. The Coach House serves dinner, and if you go for dinner, you are committed to the whole show. TOO LONG A WAIT for a good show.

    Jimmy was great!!!

by Bleg on 8/16/10Coach House - Capistrano - San Juan Capistrano

Our first time at the Coach House, food wasn't great, no surprises there. Our server, Leah was great, ask for her!!! Only gave an overall rating of 4, due to the poor quality of 2 of the 3 opening acts, very difficult to sit through, plus the overall sound quality, especially for the third opening act was very poor!! Would give Jimmy at least a 4 or 5. We would probably wait until the main act is going to play, if we ever go back there, wouldn't want to have to risk sitting through such horrible opening acts again. Jimmy's sound quality was much better, they turned it up on the second half of his show and would have been better if they hadn't done that. All the people at our table felt the same way. It was great seeing Jimmy up close and he has a great band!!!

My wife and I have been to many a concert this year but have not seen one as good as last nights. Jim was phenomenal and we enjoyed every minute. We hope he continues to tour and we will back to see him and the great band accompanying him.
