Sydney-via-Adelaide-via-London artist JESS KENT has burst onto the scene this year with ‘one of the most infectious tracks of 2015’ (triple j), and shows no signs of slowing down.

Born to a Blues Rock guitarist father and a mother of African-Indian descent, Jess was raised on a varied musical diet ranging from The Clash, The Who, Oasis and Blondie to Bob Marley, The Temptations and The Supremes. Arriving in Adelaide from the UK as an 11 year old, the now 21-year old Jess wasted no time in preparing for a life in music, teaching herself how to record and writing her own songs, as well as undertaking countless hours busking and selling her music on the streets.

Debut single ‘Get Down’, an undeniably catchy tune about growing up as a teenager in the Adelaide suburbs, was instantly picked up by triple j and spent time at the top of the station’s Most Played chart.

Reminiscent of early M.I.A and Lily Allen with a reggae twist, ‘Get Down’ has earned Jess fans on a global scale – including Twitter support from Coldplay and will.i.am – and is accompanied by a frenetic video comprised entirely of emojis, the first of its kind in the world.
