About

JERRY LEWIS LIVE:

Jerry Lewis is a comedic living legend with a long history of entertainment under his belt -- at 87 years old, the multitalented jokester takes the stage with the same vitality and charisma he possessed when he started over seven decades ago, sporting a classic black suit and a big grin. Whether he's performing animated stand-up routines, singing his hit "It All Depends on You," or sharing fond memories of yesteryear, Lewis proves he's an all-around entertainer, making audience members feel more like old friends than spectators. It's been over 70 years since he made his debut, but Lewis' humor and wit are still sharp as ever, and he'll have fans falling out of their seats on his latest tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Jerry Lewis has always had a knack for comedy, playing pranks on his neighbors at a young age and performing mime routines at 15. He launched his career in the late '40s, teaming up with Dean Martin for their comedy shows and earning a cult fan base along the way. During the '50s the duo achieved widespread success with live television appearances and their own comedic film series, but their newfound fame ultimately strained their friendship and led them to pursue solo careers. Since then, Lewis has acted in over  60 films, sung hit tracks like "Rock-A-Bye Your Baby With A Dixie Melody," performed in a number of Broadway musicals, and penned three novels.  Back on tour, the always-cheerful Lewis will have fans in amazement as he shares his many talents at his upcoming shows.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"At 87, Jerry is still sharp, funny, and full of love for his fans. The audience loved him and he loved being there!"

"It was so exciting for everyone in the audience to realize they were in a room with greatness. Jerry Lewis has and will always be THE undisputed king of comedy. Everyone else may come close but still pales in comparison...Jerry is still on top of his comedy and a true artist and humanitarian."

"It was fantastic to see Jerry Lewis grab laughs and roam through old memories. He's a national treasure."

    Jerry Lewis loses

by KmanEnterprises on 4/9/13Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Boy....what a waste of a night....showed videos, forgot punch lines to jokes, and was extremely rude to people who were asking questions. The Q&A was way too long....just to fill up time. Jerry should stop touring and enjoy his retirement.

    Mixed Emotions

by Elleich on 4/8/13NYCB - Westbury

I saw Jerry Lewis at NYCB, formerly Westbury Music Fair on April 6, 2013. I have loved him through my life, always watching his movies, the telethon and still adore his humor. But, I was extremely disappointed in this show. Firstly, there was no music at all, not even a piano. Understanding he is 87 and cannot sing as he used to, it would have been nice to make the attempt to sing anything rather than play his songs via film clips or cd prior to his coming on stage. Audiences are very forgiving with aging entertainers. The first quarter of the show was wonderful; he joked, forgot some punchlines, but who cares really, and told some good stories. He looked great and I was looking forward to more, especially since he paid tribute to Henny Youngman who was a great one-line comedian. After an abundance of film clips, which I have seen many, many times before, he took Q&A from the audience. It was an HOUR of ridiculous, repetitive questions. I feel it even tried his patience as he was on the verge of accusive and nasty responses as people kept asking for his autograph and wanted to give him gifts. So many people left as the Q&A became unwhelming and we all talked about it. The ending should have been the beginning. Nothing beats a great ending and his, unfortunately, was short-lived.

    Jerry Lewis was a disappointment

by DisappointedRK on 4/8/13NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

The first third of the show was excellent. Jerry told jokes, laughed his laugh and showed great old film clips. However, he sat and gave his back to the left side of the audience. All he had to do was move the chair back further and then he could pan the audience from right to left, and no one would feel left out. The Q&A was not managed at all and was way too long. It got boring. I did not pay to hear people spew accolades to Jerry, I came to be entertained. The Q&A was not entertaining. The last clip with Carol Burnett was excellent and made me laugh again. But then Jerry said a few words of thanks and that was the end. Very flat and ended on a low note, not a high note. Great artists and entertainers should know when to step back and out on their fame, and not do things to jeapardise their memory.

    Jerry Lewis Kind of Sad

by Ann50 on 4/8/13NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

Saw Jerry Lewis because he is an icon; however, he had memory lapses and is hard of hearing. His narratives did not always coincide with the film clips that were shown. The Question & Answer part of the show should be eliminated. Wanted the show to be better but kind of embarrassing for him. Too bad, lady.

87 years young & is still incredible!!!

by emsaunt on 4/8/13NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

My husband and I are only in our 40's & LOVE Jerry Lewis! Didn't matter that he's 87 years of age! He was just as hysterical as ever! Richard Belzer was even in the audience! The only thing that wasn't great was the Q&A. I've seen him in the past where towards the end of his act he takes questions from the audience which is always interesting because he has the most fascinating stories to tell while answering their questions. Unfortunately the audience that night didn't ask any questions except for asking over & over to take picture with him, or a signature or to give him gifts. He kindly explained SEVERAL times that he can't do for all so he'd have to decline but the audience would NOT give up or listen! When not doing that all they wanted to talk about was how much they loved him or about an unfortunate family member with some form of Muscular Dystrophy. As much as Jerry appreciated the comments he kept insisting that he wanted to answer questions to entertain the audience with & NO ONE listened! Unfortunately this part of the show went on WAY too long. But he FINALLY put an end to it and went back to being Jerry & was fantastic! Would still see him again! Hopefully next time the audience will do the right thing to make the WHOLE show as awesome as when they weren't involved!

I really enjoyed seeing Jerry and especially the clips of his old movies. Everyone was laughing out loud. He truly was a comedic genius. I could have done without the audience questions. That was quite boring.

Jerry Great, Some audience members not so much!

by Bonzoman on 4/8/13NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

If you grew up watching and loving Jerry Lewis movies as a kid, no one can ever tell you he was not the best, regardless of how times change...It was great to see him live sharing memories of his career with the audience and it was fun watching the film clips. On the other hand, the Q&A session, which could have been great, was marred by a succession of self-absorbed idiots whose only question was if they could get an autograph or otherwise climb up on the stage. In the future, these questions should be prescreened so those with thoughtful questions could be separated out from the lunkheads who want to present him with a new pair of socks! Not Jerry's fault, but there's no underestimating the immaturity of the general public in 2013. Nevertheless, if you're a Jerry Lewis fan, you'll enjoy yourself !!

    He was outstanding!

by Jerry1960 on 4/8/13NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

Jerry is one of the last of an age of Hollywood that was great. He wanted the audience to be entertained and they were. The Q and A session could have been better if the audience that participated had done what Jerry asked of them. Memorable moments that made you laugh and even tear. At age 87, he still delivers. Great Show!

    Jerry was Great

by Me42 on 4/7/13Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Was great seeing Jerry Lewis live. He told some jokes, showed old film clips, and took questions from the audience. The only negative was that he told many they could come back stage after the show to have items autographed that they had with them, but when the tried to go security said he left.

Jerry Lewis was less than average

by rb1953 on 4/7/13Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

I expected a bit more than I saw when I went to see Jerry Lewis. For half his show he did a q & a with audience. But he was critical on some of the audience remarks. I also expected him to sing at least one song BUT he did not sing at ALL.
