About

JERRY LEE LEWIS IN CONCERT:

Legendary rock and roller-turned-country crooner Jerry Lee Lewis is living proof that septuagenarians can still rock. The Killer, as Lewis is affectionately known by fans, still possesses the same spitfire energy that propelled hits like "Great Balls of Fire" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On" to No. 1 in the '50s, working the piano like a man half his age at his throwback live shows. Taking the stage with his sister and niece at his 2014 shows, Lewis cranked out marathon sets of his beloved rock hits, thrilling fans both young and old with his timeless, tireless showmanship.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Louisiana, Lewis's parents mortgaged the family farm to buy him his first piano. After being kicked out of bible school for surprising a church assembly with a boogie woogie version of "My God Is Real," Lewis begin playing in clubs around Mississippi and Tennessee, hoping to land a record deal in Nashville. His break came when Sun Records realized his talent, recording his early songs and eventually releasing his breakthrough hits "Great Balls of Fire" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On" in 1957. After family troubles steered him away from music in the late '50s, he returned to the game in the late '60s with a countrified sound, climbing the charts once again with hits like the 1968 No. 1 "To Make Love Sweeter For You." With a career that spans more than half a century, Lewis is nothing if not a seasoned performer, continuing to entertain audiences with his piano theatrics well into his seventies.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Jerry Lee Lewis put on an absolutely inspired performance of full throttle rock and roll mixed with the usual blend of country ballads and Mississippi Blues. Fantastic performance..."

"Jerry Lee has always been the master showman and even though he didn't stand up on the piano or set it on fire, does not mean that he put any less energy into his show."

"Jerry lee didn't miss a beat on the piano! So glad I got to see him."

by DutchErika on 10/19/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

The show was great! Jerry still rocks! De BB King club is amazing. Only the seats where very small, 6 persons on one table... aspecialy if you want to eat something. In the Netherlands we are not used to this small seatings... but still we had a great time!

    Witnessing history

by svtex on 10/1/10The GRAMMY Museum - Los Angeles

The Grammy Museum is doing a great job documenting living musical history. It was great to celebrate Jerry Lee's 75th birthday with him. The interview could have been a bit more in depth, and 4 songs just wasn't enough from the Killer, but the included CD and birthday cupcakes were delicious!

    Short Show

by JohnfromKansas on 9/22/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

I didn't mind waiting outside from 5:30 - 6:00pm for the doors to open in order to get a good seat. It was general admission seating. However, waiting another two complete hours from 6-8pm for the show to begin was a little long. The drinks & food were good & the wait staff was friendly & not too pushy. The opening act was ok, but forgetable. She was a local singer & performed for about 20-30 minutes. Jerry Lee's band opened with 4 songs. They were outstanding musicians & did a great job. Jerry Lee finally came out about 9:00pm. He sang & played well & talked to the crowd. He played some old favorites. Unfortunately, the show was completely over by 9:30pm. We actually sat in the club longer from 6-8 waiting for the show to begin than the show lasted, 8-9:30. I realize that Jerry Lee is 75 & didn't appear to be in the best of health. I would suggest opening the doors a little later in the future, maybe 6:30 or 7:00pm, &/or starting the opening act sooner, maybe around 7:30. I loved what a heard, but felt slightly short changed by the short performance.

    Jerry Lee at BB King's

by MTBeeZ on 9/19/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

I saw Jerry Lee Lewis at BB King Blues Club & Grill on September 13th. It was a perfect and intimate venue for him. The last time I saw Jerry Lee was at Town Hall, and while he certainly rocked the house that night too, seeing him at BB King's was so much more special. If you ever have the chance to see him there (or any other performer you love), I highly recommend it.

I would have loved it if he had played longer, but the show was amazing from start to finish! The venue was perfect, and I had an incredible view of The Killer from about 15' away! Well worth the money and the trip from Boston! Jerry Lee Lewis has been my favorite since I was 3, and I finally got to see him...I loved every second of it!

It was a once in a lifetime experience to see Jerry Lee Lewis play the piano, however, it was a long night waiting for him, from 6pm when the doors open for general admission until 9pm, and then he only played for a short time, which was disappointing, but understandable under his personal circumstances.

by BrooklynAngel on 3/22/10Paragon Casino Resort - Marksville

Jerry Lees appearance, voice and definitely his piano playing were awesome Saturday night. The crowd of over 2500 were dancing in their seats, calling out compliments, and standing ovasions all confirm that Jerry Lee Lewis is still every bit as exciting and talented as he ever was. The memory of seeing him in person will always remain a milestone in my life.

    Pilgrimage

by nogoodkris on 2/28/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

This wasn't so much as going to a concert as paying homage to a living legend. And he's still sexy! Last man standing indeed, like a pillar in the desert. If you haven't tried to see him, you don't love rock and roll.

I am always suprised at the performance the Killer keeps giving us..At his age the Killer is as sharp as ever. There are a lot of other performers who show there age but not the Killer...Like I said he's as sharp as ever as well as his band...

    The killer ROCKS!!!

by StaciD on 2/28/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Although Jerry Lee Lewis is now a bit difficult to understand when he speaks, his singing and piano playing remain unmatched. He had everyone cheering and singing along to favorites like Mexicali Rose, Whole Lotta Shakin' Going' On, and of course an incredible finale with Great Balls Of Fire. Seeing the show was a rare opportunity and it was FANTASTIC! He remains the myth, the legend, the killer. PLAY ON, Jerry!!!
