    close but no.

by ichi1960 on 6/12/12Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

Jeremy was as always fantastic. However every time his co-host came on-the spoken word/writer guy the energy of the show came to a halt. His bits were tired and un-funny and there was a very real lack of chemistry between them. The show kept going from high energy to low every time the music stopped, and the "wacky banter" stopped.

Overall it was a great concert! I enjoyed the whole idea for the 'Muse for Music'. It was a very interesting concept. One small problem I had was the computer voice the MC talked to; it was annoying and felt too staged so it got old pretty quickly.

    Jeremy Messersmith should be president.

by CatGirlKelly on 8/26/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

How can you not just love this guy (and the band)? The zoo is by far the best venue I have seen him perform, and even though the show was cut short due to "incoming weather" it was still incredible. The zoo's bird show/concert stage is a perfect backdrop with the lights throwing colored shadows everywhere and the sound system enveloping the entire seating area like a warm blanket. OK, enough syrupy details. It was fabulous and I encourage anyone who hasn't seen him live to run out and buy a ticket to an upcoming show because his CDs don't do his talent justice. And FYI-I'm still standing by my decision to not let my son (a huge fan) bring his lightsaber to wave in the air during "Tatooine." I'm so glad that his idol is Jeremy and not someone stupid like Justin Bieber :)

    A classy concert!

by threenames on 8/23/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

So... I needed an epic date before my S.O. went off to college. I was panicking, then I thought "A concert would be awesome!" Luckily, Jeremy Messersmith was playing at the Minnesota Zoo. I was wary, but I got tickets. The catch- they were fifteen seats apart. Day of the concert- we get to the zoo, and it's pretty awesome. Nice ambiance. We get our seats, and Rogue Valley starts playing. They were superb, and professional. Then Jeremy hit the stage. He sung songs from all his albums, and even some unreleased and a few old tracks, some songs played with a string quartet. He put on a concert that rivaled De La Soul's, with polite and involved fans to boot. Oh, and the venue- great. The amphitheater steps are large enough that you never get blocked by a tall dude, and the sound was awesome. Security was cool, and lighting was tasteful. It all made for an epic win of a date.

    Jeremy was relaxed and rockin'

by suemel on 8/22/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

I was worried he would be stiff as he was on a few TV spots I've seen but he was relaxed and congenial and connected well with the audience. Really liked his solos.

    What an Amazing Preformance!!

by s4branden on 8/22/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

Jeremy put on yet another AMAZING show! His concert was cut a bit short due to the weather, but he preformed so many of his new hits and most of his past great hits. He even shared a couple new songs that the crowd loved! Another amazing concert J-Dizzle! It's been fun to watch you grow Jeremy! Can't wait to see you at your next event!

    Wonderful Performance

by tjalberti on 8/21/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

I've been really enjoying Jeremy Messersmith's music after hearing it on The Current these last few months. I bought 2 tickets to the Zoo concert, not knowing who would go with me. My 20 yr old son and I often have similar tastes in music, so I sent him some links, hoping he'd like the music enough to go to a concert with his ol' mom. He did, and we both enjoyed the concert and performance very much. JM has a very genuine stage presence, and he sounds in person just as good as he does on his recordings. Loved the string section accompaniment. The Zoo is such a great venue, too, being outside surrounded by wilderness, and the sky was lovely. So glad I got to attend!

Jeremy Messersmith was even better live than he was on the radio and I loved the Bowie cover finale! The Minnesota Amphitheater was a great place for a concert (helped that the weather was nice.)

    Amazing from start to finish

Both bands were stellar, played strongly and ended on a high, fun note. Wish it could happen every weekend.

    Reluctant Rocker

by SavageSnoozer on 8/21/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

Jeremy was amazing! He seems shy, thus the "reluctant" label. Could stand to work on his between-song banter. But, the show was great overall. Such a quality guy. And, really, with all of those strings, how can he go wrong. Lovely, lovey!

Jeremy is an old soul in a young man's body

by jennhas4 on 8/21/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

Almost perfect!!! A few more songs would have made it perfect. Jeremy is a brilliant songwriter and performer. Would somebody sign this guy so he can share his talents with a wider audience??? As much as we would like to keep him a secret here in the Twin Cities - it's just plain unfair.

    Jeremy Messersmith was great!

by DebKS on 8/21/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

The Minnesota Zoo is a great venue to get up close to the performers, and both Rogue Valley and Jeremy Messersmith were terrific! How lucky we are that these musicians spend so much time in the Minneapolis area, and we have many opportunities to see them perform. Chris Koza and Jeremy both are very talented songwriters and performers.

The zoo is always a great venue. Jeremy Messersmith is incredibly talented. I am still humming the encore song of Starman.

    Best show of the summer!

by Staack on 8/21/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

This was such a fun show! It was a beautiful night at the Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater, great venue, cool setting. Jeremy Messersmith sounded great, he was entertaining and displayed his vocal chops. He also had a string quartet on most of his songs which was a very nice touch! He just played one good song after another and ended the night with him and Rogue Valley doing a Bowie song. Did not disappoint!

    Jeremy Messersmith delivers as always!

by lork on 8/21/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

Jeremey Messersmith as always was entertaining, raw, emotional and real. He captivates his audience. Loved the string instruments that accompany many of his songs. Yet, Jeremy's voice is excellent on his own. Looking forward to next year's concert at the zoo with Jeremny Messersmith. This is the second year I've seen him there and will always return. He and his band members are a class act.

What more could you ask for!!

by Cliff1 on 8/21/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

The Jeremy Messersmith event was awesome!! Not only was the music great, but the venue was perfect. The amphitheater situated next to the lake glowed a warm golden as the sun was setting. The sound system was exceptional. The venue being in the middle of the Minnesota Zoo enabled us to stroll around the zoo and peruse some of the animal exhibits before the opening act (Rogue Valley) took the stage. The restroom facilities were clean and well maintained. And the best part was that Jeremy Messersmith went above and beyond to stay until every last piece of Merchandise was signed or to have his photo take with his fans. While waiting there was even a bit of comic relief while watching a pair of wild raccoons tussle around next to the walkway.

    High Energy; Smart Lyrics

by Assegoddess2005 on 8/21/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

We weren't really sure what to expect, but the Zoo has never led us astray. We were blown away by the sheer talent and performance. The song composition and orchestrations with the strings provided a rich texture to the guitars and percussion. We laughed, we danced, and had a very enjoyable evening.

    Jeremy Messersmith/Rogue Valley

by smarty1957 on 8/21/11Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple Valley

A great pairing of two bands. Jeremy was in wonderful voice and the string quartet was the piece de resistance.
