Jens Lekman had a great performance at the Royale.
Jens' heartfelt, poignant, and amusing lyrics anf gorgeous music were sung with all the feeling you could hope for. His voice sounds even more powerful and beautiful in person. I was surprised at how he even brought some old time rock and roll to the event at just the right moments. I saw Bruce Springsteen three weeks ago; truly I enjoyed this more for a lot of reasons. Not disrespecting Bruce - love him! - just got more out of this!
He got up on stage and lazily smiled and played the whole time without engaging. The acoustics were off as well.
It was the first time my boyfriend and I had ever been to Arts at the Armory to see a show so we had no idea what to expect of the venue. The acoustics were awesome! It was just Jens and his drummer so it felt like an acoustic set. He played for less than 90 minutes which was disappointing but the songs he selected were great! He chose a nice mix of old and new songs that were crowd pleasers. He is such a fun performer to see live, quite the comic! We would certainly recommend that you go check out a Jens Lekman show if he is touring in your area. You won't be disappointed! This venue was standing room only yet we did not feel crowded at all which is rare. The neat part of a small venue is it makes for an intimate performance which is always cool! We skipped the opener but did not have to wait in line to get in which was a plus. The bar sold a nice variety of beers & wines, they accepted credit cards and there were several bartenders working. Fun date night!
he is brilliant and beautiful as a musician and human being
This was hands-down the best concert that I have ever attended. He seemed like he loved every minute of performing, which the audience reciprocated with roars of applause at every appropriate opportunity. His ability to win over your heart with witty lyrics and charming melodies is unprecedented, not to mention awe-inspiring. Hell, my appreciation for him even over-powers my distaste for using clichés. Basically, GO SEE HIM. The show I went to was his third, and unplanned, show in Williamsburg during this tour that he added last minute because of the overwhelming demand for him. Also, the drummer he is touring with is AMAZING. BUY TICKETS NOW
Amazing! Jens Lekman is a great entertainer and this time was no exception.
Such a fun show. <3 Jens, the funkiest swede on the planet.
great show, great set, great venue for him, very entertaining...
i Didnt knew Jens lekman before. I got the hint from a friend. The evening was wonderful. Great Music combined with Great Humor!
Jens Lekman was so much fun live. He played a lot of new songs & some that I'm pretty sure aren't even recorded. Cute little stories in between songs. I was really impressed how rounded the sound seemed since it was just him with an acoustic guitar & a drummer. I didn't realize that some of his pop-y songs would be with a pre-recorded backing track though. My one complaint is the short set. He first left the stage after only about 45 min. He came back and played a few more songs, then left again, and came back for one last one. Still, I expected more than just barely an hour long set.
Jens Lekman never let's me down. I have to admit that the warm-up with Geoffrey O'Connor was not at all to my taste, but when Jens arrived and filled the room with his soothing voice I was in a trance. A bit more humor than usual in his performance, but who doesn't like to laugh?
Jens Lekman made everyone in the crowd melt. His voice is ethereal. And he can keep the crowd entertained between songs with silly stories.
Jens can't be beat! Great venue, great audience interaction and story telling.
Annoyingly slow at allowing the line of people to enter. Soured the evening.
