About

Jean Dawson on Tour

A mix of hip-hop and alternative music collide with the genre-bending, Mexican-American artist Jean Dawson. His musical style of hip-rock paired with his descriptive lyrics create a beautifully mixed soundscape. Following the release of his 2022 album, CHAOS NOW*, Dawson is set to commence his 24-stop Chaos Now* tour across the United States and Canada. Dawson's live performances are filled with positive energy with the unique listening experience containing the best of hip-hop, alternative, rock, and trap music. First emerging onto the music scene with his 2019 EP Bad Sports, Dawson continued to blur musical genres with his debut 2020 album, Pixel Bath, and sophomore 2022 album CHAOS NOW*.

Jean Dawson Live in Concert

Born in Tijuana, Mexico, Dawson is Black and Hispanic. Eventually moving to San Diego, Dawson was introduced to hip-hop at a young age by his parents. Over the years, his musical influences ranged from hip-hop legends Kanye West and Jay-Z to alternative icons Bon Iver and Frank Ocean. With help from producer Lecx Stacy, Dawson released his first EP, Bad Sports, in 2019. In his debut album, Pixel Bath, Dawson's track "Triple Double" included a feature from hip-hop superstar A$AP Rocky. Dawson also incorporates his ethnic background into his music, singing in both English and Spanish. Since the genre within which his music falls is fluid and can't be tied down to one single genre, Dawson hasn't found it easy to find his niche. In an interview with VICE Dawson said, "I don't get on the rap playlists because I make s*** with guitars, but I don't get the rock playlists, because I'm Black ... So I'm in this weird space that doesn't exist yet." While fans have been flocking to his music and shows, Jean Dawson maintains more than 700,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, with his most popular songs "Triple Double" and "Power Freaks," combining for more than 13 million streams.

honestly i saw him at kilby court in slc and that set compared to this one fr night and day. UGHHH SO GOOD. I went alone and had so much fun honestly and ik someone else says that he shouldn’t of asked for energy from the crowd but like dawg everyone that was in the back and other levels were so spaced out. i’ve been to the observatory for a couple other people and tbh yea the people in the back seemed like some didn’t know if they could come down lower or also just wanted to stand in the back. Anyways i liked how he broke the ice and said “what are y’all too cool to come closer to the stage. don’t worry they won’t bite. we are here to have fun. we are a family.” so it wasn’t really asking them to give energy it was more welcoming them to be comfortable and come closer and dance. i’ve been a fan since bad sports came out and this show fr was everythinggggg. And i even got to talk to him after and get a picture and autograph:)) which he was so sweet and took his time with everyone and we had a great interaction and overall walking to my car i was fr so giddy which is the first time i’ve left a show alone in such a great mood and i normally and so hyped after any show before that post concert. depression hits. 11.1.23 Observatory Show

Overall good time great music. Jean got personal and emotional which is always nice to see for authenticity and character. However, he seemed to blame his audience for not giving him enough energy, while I would say we build off of his performance. Encouragement is nice but own your experience and take us on your musical journey, don't rely on the audience to reach greater heights.

Even with asthma homeboy brought it hard! Backed up by an army of hotties on guitar/bass he remained less than a foot away from the stages edge - engaging and connecting with all. He’s blowing up and it bout time. Glad I got to catch ‘em at a smaller venue while I still can. Thanks for sharing your gifts w us Jean Dawson

I had never been to the shelter before and loved it. Small venue, artists are up close and personal! My grandson wanted to go, and I enjoyed it too!
