There were times when you really could not hear what the actors were saying. Also, the wait area in the venue was very hot and one person actually fainted because it was so hot. There were no bad seats but they were very small and not very accommodating for persons of substantial size.
The cast were a great. Pookie was my favorite. He had me in tears. I look forward to experiencing more of this young man's work.
This show was well put together and easy to follow. Very close to the movie.
Skillfully done! Props were everything! The storytelling was a great added touch!
My very first time seeing a play and New Jack City play was everything.
The show didn't start on time (7:30) about 8:00, but once it began it kept you entertained from start to finish! The entire superstar cast was great and did their thing! I truly wish they work together again in another play. Je'Caryous really brought the movie to stage!! I look forward to him bringing other projects to Charleston!!! I will support you!!!!
The show was beyond my expectations. The set was amazing. The acting was amazing. It was a mix of drama, comedy and action. It didn’t deviate from the original too much while still having its own take on it. Each character aside from G Money complimented the movies characters. Treach did an amazing job. Loved his portrayal of Nino Brown. Gary Dourdan did an amazing job and Flex Alexander as Pookie was a great choice. I highly recommend you check this play out. Thank you for coming to Charleston, SC because we don’t have too many black plays coming this way
The production was absolutely amazing. I am so pleased that they kept to the original storyline, and even used some of the same lines. I was so worried about how they were going to turn the movie into a play. As a theater major and certified movie nerd, I am so happy with the production. It was beautifully done, marvelously, produced, and fantastically directed.
I haven’t been to a play in a long time didn’t know what to expect. The performance was flawless from the sound to the music and the stage set up. All the actors did a great job. Treach surprised me with his role as Nino, he held his own with the other actors. All I can say great job Je’Caryous Johnson.
Great show. Deducted points for starting late. Waiting in the hot lobby to enter was brutal.
I was truly excited beforehand because new Jack city is a cult, classic Je’Caryous Johnson ‘s very relevant spin on the classic is even more riveting. He connects the issues of the time with today’s current standing, in a current society. He gives us a glimpse of how often things may change, they still stay the same. He binds street politics with Corporate corruption. This performance was spectacular!!! Big Daddy Kane was legendary. comparisons cannot be matched. Looking forward to another run.
Seen it 2 times & it was great 2 times! Great idea. Had me going home to watch the actual movie.
A really great show. All of the characters where outstanding. If there was another show near me I would attend that show as well unfortunately it isn’t. Hopefully this will be stream online so I can see it again. Treach played Nino Brown and was definitely fit for that part. Flex played pookie and this man was super hilarious. Kane played Stone we bend to see him in the big screen more. Allen acted just like he did in the movie. Everyone was outstanding
