About

Jawbreaker formed in New York City but soon after relocated to the West Coast and more than 35 years later they remain one of the most beloved and influential bands of the post-punk era. Vocalist/guitarist Blake Schwarzenbach, bassist Chris Bauermeister and drummer Adam Pfahler carved a unique niche in the emo and alternative scenes starting with the release of their debut album, 1990's Unfun. Over the course of their long career they also released 1992's Bivuoac and 1994's 24 Hour Revenge Therapy, which was included in Pitchfork's Top 100 Favorite Records Of The 1990s.

Jawbreaker signed to a lucrative deal with the major label DGC Records ahead of the release of 1995's Dear You, which further raised the band's mainstream profile but inflamed long-simmering internal tensions. Jawbreaker disbanded in 1996 and its members moved onto other projects in and outside of music. After turning down regular offers to reunite for more than 20 years, the trio returned to the stage to co-headline the 2017 edition of Riot Fest in Chicago and later toured North America and Europe. A career-spanning documentary, Don't Break Down: A Film About Jawbreaker, was also released in 2017.

Rolling Stone list Dear You as #4 in their "Top 40 Greatest Emo Albums of All Time" and have noted "their fingerprints are all over much of the rock that took over mainstream radio in the mid-2000s." Countless bands cite them as inspiration and fans including Green Day, Blink 182, Dashboard Confessional, and Nirvanna who took them on a 1992 tour.

    Irving plaza parking

by Ryedog on 5/2/22Irving Plaza - New York

The prepaid parking was a ripoff! I paid for the parking through Ticketmaster and when I got to the parking garage I showed them the parking pass via phone eticket. They said that it was the correct parking lot. When leaving the attendant scanned the ticket and said it was for their garage but, when scanned he said it wasn’t right and told me that I had to pay $34. I argued that I already paid for parking to no avail. So I had to pay for the parking again. Show was great! Although; Jawbreaker either had bass too loud or I shouldn’t have stood on the side with the bassist. Could barely hear guitars.

    Venue baloney

by Psh on 4/25/22The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

The bands played great. My only real complaint is that if you wanted to go upstairs to watch the show from the balcony, you had to pay more once you’re inside the venue. That’s ridiculous.

    Wow

Absolutely a superb experience. Everything I could have hoped for and more.

Jawbreaker was great, the venue not so much

by James on 4/22/22The Crofoot Ballroom - Pontiac

I haven't been to the crofoot since La Dispute played a while back. The venue is set up decently and the balcony where I was standing was ok. I felt bad for the people behind me because if you aren't at the rail of the balcony, you can't see anything. My main grievance with the show was the sound quality. It sounded blown out. The levels seemed totally off as well. I'd highly recommend Jawbreaker, they put on a great show. I wouldn't recommend the Crofoot. If it was the only venue in the Metro area it would be one thing but there's a lot of competition around here.

Seriously the best. I love jawbreaker and they’re always great live.

The Crowfoot is horrible. Can't see anything

by Mark on 4/22/22The Crofoot Ballroom - Pontiac

Jawbreaker was awesome. The 5 star rating reflects them. Want to say that first. The venue is horrible though. We had balcony tickets and you can't see a thing up there unless you are right up against the rail. One side had tables against the rails which made it great for about 8 people while nobody else could see around them.

    Crappy

by Stephen Stibora on 4/19/22House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

Well it being a 3 day weekend I was thrown off and didn't realize until Saturday that my ticket was actually for Friday. Called HOB and explained my dilemma knowing that the show had not sold out I asked if there was anyway they would honor my ticket from the night before. The worker explained that they couldn't but I could always buy another ticket since they still had them. Thanks for nothing!

    HOB sound is awful!

by JL on 4/19/22House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

Jawbreaker played a great set, however the sound was terrible. You could barley hear any cymbals other than the high hat and the bass over powered everything. House of Blues sound has always been bad and somehow is worse. I don’t think I’ll go see anymore bands there.

    Worst venue ever

by Stork on 4/16/22House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

Show was to start at 7:00 show didn’t start till 7:30 then a comedian came out for 10 min why a comedian would open a rock show I have no idea. Then another 30 min break. So for the 3 hours I was at venue I seen an hour and a half of music I seen more curtains then music.

    Jawbreaker

by Fan on 4/13/22The Fillmore - San Francisco

Jawbreaker was phenomenal as they have always been. We really appreciated how well the Fillmore handled covid precautions and clearly take extended measures to keep everyone safe. We’ll continue to come back now that I’ve seen how dedicated they are regarding checking vaccinations and staff wearing masks.

    Not into it

by BV on 4/13/22Fillmore Minneapolis - Minneapolis

    - Smoking Popes were boring - D4 was ok but fairly annoying - JAWBREAKER seemed grumpy and the singer was condescending to the crowd The venue was fine but the ticket price was much too high. … maybe I just don’t like pop punk anymore…

    Oh Fillmore

    by L on 4/13/22Fillmore Minneapolis - Minneapolis

Band was awesome. The Fillmore, less so. The whole cashless bar crap, and no re-entry or smoking area was lame.

    Poor sound quality

by pbirke on 4/13/22Fillmore Minneapolis - Minneapolis

First time to this venue. Nice an open which is great. Walking right into the sound board and merch table creates a bit of congestion but wasn’t terrible. Many queues just to get into the venue. Primary issue is the sound. Couldn’t hear the vocals. This persisted through all three bands. A lot of people near the front were yelling for the vocals to be turned up. Not sure it ever was. Could be an ok venue if that is corrected.

Best billed show of all time

by Drew on 4/11/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

Just… the most amazing show ever. Venue was clean, staff friendly, organized so you didn’t feel trapped. Beers were, as expected, pretty over priced.

Decent venue if you don’t drink

by MWeber on 4/11/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

The sound was very good. The venue really didn’t have enough bathrooms for how big it was. I wish the second band had a longer set. I had a friend who paid $20 for a Truly (granted it was big) and $30(!!) for a Redbull and vodka, which is absolutely criminal.

    Set times listed wrong

by KB on 4/11/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

Livenation posted 6pm doors and 7:30pm music starts for this event. But actually music started at 6:30pm!! This caused me to miss the band I flew half way across the country to see. Don't trust Livenation set times!!!!

    Phenomenal Show

by Mr.Bass on 4/11/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

Despite audio issues, every band was amazing. I've seen the Descendents many times, and the Fillmore is just something else. Jawbreaker surpassed all expectations. Just floored.

Love Jawbreaker, but Descendents stole the show.

by Zach on 4/11/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

Had a great time. Face to Face was awesome, Descendents killed it and it was awesome seeing Jawbreaker for the first time since 1996. Drinks are super mega expensive. If not for that, it would have gotten 5 stars.

    Thank you!

by Tilt Thompson on 4/11/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

Beautiful venue. Great sound and lights. Plenty of bars (though I did not utilize them). Great location in Denver. Walkable to many other places.

    Bands were great!!! Venue…meh.

by Mimi on 4/10/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

This was the concert of the decade for me. Too bad the staff at the Fillmore treats concert goes as if you are an annoying little kid. Totally got ripped off by the bartender. He did not pour what we asked for and when we took our shots and realized they were Fireball and not Jameson he totally gaslighted us and accused us of being drunk when it was literally our first drink of the evening. I’m a grown woman, I would have never requested Fireball…ever. Not to mention they do not show you your itemized order when paying and take it upon themselves to enter a 25% tip. This guy was totally ripping ppl off. I had my arm grabbed by another staff when I accidentally walked in the wrong direction. As a adult, I hope I never have to go to a show at the Fillmore again.
