First off, the amazing things about Janis Ian are her crystal clear, clean vocals, excellent guitar work and poetic lyrics. It was all true in the mid and late 70s, when I had 4 of her albums, and it still is.
For the most part the show centered on the old classics and her new album. Her focus and energy was wonderful and the crowd appreciated it.
As far as the venue, the Lynn Memorial Auditorium was an intimate setting, even if the leg room between seats was substandard, bordering on uncomfortable.
Tom Chapin and Livingston Taylor set up the evening capably in brief appearances.
Glad I went. Janis is an entertainer, a poet, and a good person.
