About

More than two decades into their career, acid jazz artists Jamiroquai, led by ageless frontman Jay Kay, prove themselves as timeless as funk itself as they blend old hits with new and rock it out on their latest swing, 2013's Magic Summer Live tour. Tickets are like a timewarp to the past and space-age future as Jamiroquai treat concertgoers to their high-energy funk grooves that recall their '90s youth, while at the same time, referencing the spacey themes that have been a mainstay in such hits as "Space Cowboy" and "Cosmic Girl." Accentuating the futuristic tone is a laser light show and giant planets hanging over the stage. At the center of it is Kay himself, out-dancing everyone in the house and delivering Jamiroquai's signature hits, often with fresh arrangements, making the familiar as new and relevant as ever. Not to let their previous catalog be the last word, Jamiroquai have begun recording their 8th album, which is slated for a 2014/2015 release.

Jamiroquai got its start in the brain of Jay Kay (he named the band and recruited its members) and debuted in 1993 with the album, "Emergency on Planet Earth." They followed up with an even more successful sophomore effort before hitting it massively big with 1996's "Travelling Without Moving" and its US breakout single, "Virtual Insanity." Since then, they've released four more albums, evolved and changed lineups, but the one constant besides Kay has always remained — their signature Buffalo Man logo, drawn up by Kay, that has graced most of their album covers since the beginning. It's one more example that shows some things may change, but the groove remains timeless.

Jay Kay sounded great, the band sounded great. Set list was on point. Their catalog is so deep, but they did a good, rounded out set. Jay Kay was super gracious.

    Worth 25 year wait

by Equinoxeve on 4/20/18Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

First time I saw them was in 1993 and it was an amazing experience. It set off 25 years of playing their music every day. This concert re-affirmed my passion. Great musicality, artistry and entertainment value. Fantastic set list spanning all the albums. High energy. Great arrangements. Catching them again in NYC in September.

    Music brings us together

by PaulTurnerFan on 4/20/18Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

No surprise. After 13 years Jamiroquai would sell out Bill Grahm Civic Auditorium. Just an awesome set list going back to the 90's and up today - JayKay and company performed all my favorite Jamiroquai tunes. Cosmic Girl, Canned Heat, Virtual Insanity, and my personal favorite Traveling Without Moving. The audience was a fantastic mix of young and old. The stage was colorful array of lights and video. Sound was good, although I always find electric bass lacking in large venues. Just seem with all this modern technology we should be able to get closer to that studio sound when playing live. Other than that - the lead vocal, and back up vocals, keyboards, and percussion were very prominent and musical. Very fun concert, great music, great message, and wonderful crowd of friendly people.

by timoho on 4/20/18Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

Was brilliant, of course. Jay was killing. Band was killing, especially Paul Turner on bass. They need to come back to SF way more often. I think a residency is in order.

Flew in to San Francisco just for this event and it was well worth the trip. The band was tight, Jay’s voice was on point. Massive set list with embellished versions of all of the songs, it was a good two hours worth of fantastic music. Very excited I was able to see them in their long awaited return to the US.
