Jamestown Revival on Tour

If you’re going to a Jamestown Revival show, you better be prepared to participate. Harmony is at the core of Zach Chance and Jonathan Clay’s Southern-rockin’ Americana outfit, and if you’ve heard their 2018 concert recording, Live From Largo at the Coronet Theatre, you’ll know that their repertoire presents ample opportunities to sing and clap along. Expect rousing renditions of the band’s signature tracks - like the country-rock anthem “California (Cast Iron Soul)” and the tense, foot-stomping showstopper “Crazy World (Judgement Day)” - along with dips into a deep well of covers that includes the Jackson Browne/Nico standard “These Days” and the Steve Young-penned Eagles favorite “Seven Bridges Road.”

Jamestown Revival Background

Though they formed in 2011, the roots of Jamestown Revival extend back a good decade before that, when childhood friends Zach Chance and Jonathan Clay started jamming together as teenagers growing up in the town of Magnolia, Texas. Their official union would be delayed somewhat by Clay’s ascendant solo career, which earned the aspiring singer-songwriter a development deal with Atlantic Records in 2007. But he’d find greater success once he and Chance relocated to Austin to start Jamestown Revival - a reference to Jamestown, Virginia (one of the first settlements in the United States), and FM-radio icons Creedence Clearwater Revival. That band name served as the perfect advertisement for the new group’s sound - old-school Americana delivered with a classic-rock kick and dipped in Chance and Clay’s honeyed harmonies. Over the course of their first three albums - 2014’s Utah, 2016’s The Education of a Wandering Man, and 2019’s San Isabel - Jamestown Revival grew both in size and scope, with a six-piece lineup equally adept at gritty roadhouse rockers and atmospheric, desert-dusted ballads. But while stuck at home in 2020, Jamestown Revival got back to their duo roots with a mellow acoustic EP, A Field Guide to Loneliness, and a stunning, pitch-perfect cover of the Crosby, Stills & Nash classic “Helplessly Hoping.”

Great way to return to live music.

    by J. J. on 4/6/21

What a great way to start to return to normal. Jamestown Revival really put on a fantastic show and connected with the audience. This was my first Jamestown Revival concert and I hope to see many more. The venue is amazing. The spaced out tables and outdoor setting was a perfect place to have this and feel safe. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I hope to see another concert here.

    Great Show!

by Aliflo on 3/13/20The Fillmore - San Francisco

Concerts at the Fillmore San Francisco are always a wonderful experience and Jamestown Revival did not disappoint. Their beautiful harmonies, stage presence, great song writing and humbleness made the evening really memorable. This is my first time seeing Jamestown revival but I will absolutely see them the next time they come to town hopefully at the Fillmore!

Our first time seeing Jamestown Revival, and the show was fantastic. Loved the intimate setting at Delmar Hall. Only complaint is wish it could have gone on longer. Can't wait to see them again!

Wish it was the same show as two years ago!

by J. on 5/15/19Port City Music Hall - Portland

Unfortunately, they seemed really out of it and called us by the wrong city. It was kind of disappointing after being blown away by them 2 years ago (that’s why I bought the tickets). Half the energy and effort. Too bad! There were a few good songs but all in all...maybe next time!

The incredible venue of the historic synagogue brought the spirit of praise for this revival! Jamestown Revival is an authentic experience of musical geniuses inviting us to witness mastery and participate in jamboree.

    Impressive

by Ninelou on 5/8/17The Club at Stage AE - Pittsburgh

This show was one of the best concerts I had ever been to. The band was exceptional; I obviously love their sound enough to go to a concert but they were 100x better live: they had so much talent, energy and raw passion, and it was all exposed on stage. I plan on seeing them again in the near future.

    Great harmonies and energy!

by ScarboroughFoodie on 5/6/17Port City Music Hall - Portland

I started listening to Jamestown Revival once their song, Love is a Burden started getting play on our local radio station WCLZ. I always turned up the volume when that song came on, and now have the volume turned up as I dig into Utah and Education of a Wandering Man. The show was high energy and they really engaged with the audience recalling a zebra costumer from their last show in Portland, and even changing up the set list to play Medicine at a fan's request. Their performance of Love is a Burden with its segue into California was a highlight of the show . Glad to see them in an intimate venue, but also hope they get the attention they deserve!

We went for The Record Company and they could not have put on a better show! From the moment he came out, until they were done, his energy was incredible! One of the best shows I've seen.
