JACKYL IN CONCERT:
Southern metal pioneers Jackyl hold the distinct honor of being the first — and possibly the only — band to ever feature a chainsaw solo on a track, a feat they accomplished with their 1992 debut single "The Lumberjack." Chainsaw or not, Jackyl's adrenalin-filled live shows continue to make sparks fly, as frontman Jesse James Dupre leads the band through fiery renditions of favorites like "Down on Me" and "Push Comes to Shove." Back on the road in 2014, the band is all revved up and ready to throttle at select US tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed in Georgia in the early '90s, Jackyl made an quick name for themselves with their hard-charging live shows, which sometimes featured chainsaw solos by frontman Jesse James Dupre. Their self-titled 1992 debut went platinum on the strength of hard rock hits like "The Lumberjack" and "Down on Me," establishing them as primary force within the burgeoning southern metal microgenre. Over the course of seven studio albums, several live albums, and two best-of compilations, the band has demonstrated a stamina and intensity that they carry on stage every time they perform. Back on the road in 2014, Jackyl are ready and raring to give it their all at tour dates around the country.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
" As always, Jesse and the guys tore it up! Great song selection, excellent audience feedback, and guys played and drank on without a break. Not to mention they take the time after a show to shake a hand and say howdy to anybody that wants to meet them."
" It's a party every time at a Jackyl show. They interact with the audience and each other. You can tell they still enjoy playing together."
"Jackyl was amazing. They really rocked the house and made the room go boom! We all had a blast!"
These guys are awesome.....they put on a great show and they sound phenomenal live!
i thought Jackyl's performance was amazing! DMC was a great addition to Jesse James. As always, I liked the Midland and its old venue feel.
Jackyl put on a great show and really knows how to get the crown energy up. When Jesse James started Crowd surfing everyone could tell this guy was having a good time and it only made the crowd have a better time. Then with DMC teaming up with Jackyl, the band of the dirty south, and singing "Just like a Negro" was awesome. This is my fourth time seeing Jackyl and everytime is an unforgettable experience.
What an awesome show... dude, those guys know how to perform. I didn't know hardly any of their stuff before, but I went out and bought it after.
This was an amazing night of rock. We had an incredible time. The crowd was awesome and so was the music. Watching DMC and Jackyl perform together was truly an historic moment. So glad we were there to witness it.
Jackyl came out ready to ROCK IT! You more than got your monies worth with this band.
Jackyl was AWESOME and so was Nigels band but honestly DMC left a lot to be desired. He sang two songs and then came out at the very in to chime in on the last song. Woo hoo...show would have been off the hook without him. Having him involved just made you realize he wasn't very entertaining.
it was a awsome concert when dmc come out it brought back the 80s when he sang his songs with jesse then after the show they came out and signed autographs that was the bomb you dont see to many bands do that
Was a great concert, lov the Midland so exciting to see Nigel and his dad do a song together!
the show was one the best ive seen in a long time. if you wasnt their you missed it.
my first time the midland was wonderful seating suck the show was great
great talent in a great place. Not a bad place in the midland to watch any show. It was easy to get up close to the stage.
Great show! Very entertaining!!! Jackyl is at their best when doing a live show....LOVED every minute of it!
I have seen jackyl 15 times sence they came out in 1990 they were a warm up band at first. I just love jesse's voice i will continue to see them as long as they keep playing. what made this one so speacial is of course jesse james doing something crazy like mooning everyone at the end of the show ooooooooooooooo not just once but twice awesome show is kid nigels is freakin bad ass too.
Seats dead center in the intimate Midland Theater. Despite obvious amp problems, Jesse James Dupree's son and his band soldiered on and started the night's rock party. The affection with which Jesse and his band hold KC Rock 98 DJ Johnny Dare and the KC audience was immediately evident. Lots of familiar chat and kidding - the house had the feel of a private party, not your normal concert. It was a FUN night and it's too bad the band had to leave town afterwards for their next date in KY - the whole house would gladly have spilled out into the Power & light district to continue the holiday party with the band. DMC was a fabulous addition to the show, adding an element that had everyone rocking out at the top of their lungs. Really great show, really great atmosphere. LOVE the 98 Rock shows at the Midland. VIP party feel to everything they do!
The show was really awesome. My buddy and I both had a great time. It was a great value for the low dough price but I would have paid more. The bands played great and the sound at the Midland Theatre was great!
This was the second time I have seen Jackyl live. This time I was 10 feet away and it was great. The temperature had the guys really sweating right from the start. Only bad thing was the 4 hours of standing on pavement.
excellent show, will always go to see them and wish i could go to Sturgis to see them again
Concert was great - Annie's in Cinci is always a good time!!!
Once again Jackyl was great. Jesse and the band were as good as I've ever seen them. The sound was good and the show was flawless. They had a great mix from all of their CD's. I recommend that everyone should see a Jackyl show. It is pure entertainment with great rock n roll. His opening band was The Nigel Dupree Band (Jesse's son). They had a unique 1980's sound, a mix between Skid Row and Kiss. There is no doubt that he is following in his dad's footsteps.
