    Jackie Wilson is highly recommended!

by Newlook01 on 12/19/11Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

The Jackie Wilson story tells the story of the rise and fall of a talented artist that struggled with racism, addiction, and the challenges with the music industry. The production was well put together and showcased a cast of extremenly talented performers. Jackie Taylor has done it again!

    The Jackie Wilson Story

by SabT on 12/12/11Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

This show was awesomeL. The entire ensemble did an excellent job at the new and intimate venue. But the person who played Jackie was FANTASTIC!!! The writers and producers put together a very compelling back story that made the entire event an musical history lesson that left all who attended better educated about the era, the musician and the industry. I highly recommend this musical to fans of rhythm and blues.

    Jackie Wilson Story review

by Sparkle0613 on 12/6/11Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

Attendance at the play was my birthday gift to my 80 year old mother. This was her request and I happily purchased the tickets. We were so impressed by the new theater, the courtesy of the staff, and the outstanding seating inside of the theater. The play was outstanding, the acting was superb! There was not one weak link in the cast. We were so proud because the show was so well written and the performances took us back in time when Jackie Wilson was Mr. Excitement and we could recall his performances on TV and at the Regal Theater. I suggest everyone who can go, should go, and enjoy a 'Broadway-like' performance right in the hood.

    Jackie Wilson II not Uplifting

by Soundless11 on 12/3/11Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

Jackie Wilson II did not make me feel inspired. Something was missing other then the original lead singer. I did not like the sad opening number at all. The death bed portions of the program also could have been left out. Although some sorrow is to be expected from everyone's life, the spice is just more fun to experience. It start out feeling gloomy and never reaching the energy level to pull the audience to its' feet.

    Terrific

by emjayef on 12/2/11Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

We saw the original 10 years ago. This version was just as good, if not better. A few of the same actors, but mostly new. "Jackie Wilson" was amazing.

This was a truly marvelous tribute to Mr. Excitement himself, Jackie Wilson! Would certainly pay to see it again!

Jackie Wilson = well worth it!

by CityGirl44 on 11/29/11Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

If you love music, and you love true stories, and if you love great voices and energized performances, this show is not-to-be-missed. Jackie Taylor's production is imaginative and smart. What she does with simple sets is impressive. I liked this as much as I liked Jersey Boys.
