About

Jack White in Concert

One of the premier rock stars of the 21st century, Jack White isn't just one the most electrifying guitar players and skilled songwriters of our time, he's a one-man music industry whose influence permeates mainstream and underground rock alike. Born in Detroit, White was a professional upholsterer before his primitive blues-punk duo, The White Stripes, became key instigators of an early-2000s garage-rock explosion that turned them into international media darlings. Certainly, there was no denying the firecracker spark of breakthrough singles like "Fell in Love With a Girl" and "Hotel Yorba," though the duo's striking red-and-white attire and carefully cultivated mystique — with White and his ex-wife/drummer Meg playing up the myth that they were a brother-sister act — no doubt amplified the hysteria around them. By 2003's ‘Elephant,' The White Stripes had fully outgrown their indie roots, with the brontosaurus-sized stomp of "Seven Nation Army" — a soccer-stadium anthem for the ages — revealing a grander vision that White would pursue up to the duo's 2007 swan song, ‘Icky Thump.'

Liberated from The White Stripes' minimalist formation, White has indulged his every creative whim, forming satellite bands (power-pop revivalists The Raconteurs, heavy-blues bruisers The Dead Weather) and embarking on an eclectic solo career that's yielded the downhome serenades of 2012's ‘Blunderbuss' and the dazzling baroque ‘n' roll of 2014's ‘Lazaretto.' At the same time, he's nurtured his Third Man Records label into a multi-purpose operation based in his current home of Nashville, encompassing a record store, recording studio, music venue, and vinyl pressing plant that's been at the forefront of the medium's revival. However, for all his dedication to keeping bygone styles and formats alive, White bristles at being painted as an old-school purist. And to prove it, he loaded up his wildly experimental 2018 release, ‘Boarding House Reach,' with all sorts of modernist touches, like Pro Tools productions and hip-hop-style drum breaks. His current tour finds him adapting those studio-sculpted creations for the stage with the help of a four-piece backing band — and don't be surprised if you see this guitar god get behind the drum kit to give those beats some extra oomph.

    Amazing show

by The Hills on 9/27/22James L Knight Center - Miami

One of the best shows we’ve ever experienced. The venue was small and intimate. Got to know the people on both sides of us. Loved we couldn’t use our phones and every second of the show. I would highly recommend and hope Jack comes back to this venue.

    Amazing.

by Miranda on 9/27/22Bayou Music Center - Houston

This show was fantastic. The no phone thing was annoying but then you are actually focusing on the show and the energy. It was like an old school rock show. No phone is a great idea honestly. Fully devoted to the show and the experience.

    High Energy Show

by Margarita Queen on 9/27/22Bayou Music Center - Houston

The performance was amazing; I think he took one 15-20 second break midway through, otherwise it was non-stop. This was my first time seeing him, but it definitely won't be my last.

    Winging It

by Chloe M. on 9/27/22Bayou Music Center - Houston

I had no idea that Jack plays with no setlist, meaning his band mates have to flow with whatever song choice he goes into. It sounds chaotic, but it was put into practice very well. Jack is a master at his art. Of course, it's a no phone show, but it feels freeing to not have to worry about getting a good shot and just enjoy the show. If you are on the fence, I 10/10 recommend you to see Jack White live.

    Jack Kills It Live

by VJTV21 on 9/27/22Bayou Music Center - Houston

Jack White far exceeded my expectations. I've always had respect for Jack but didn't love his music. Seven Nation Army though is such a good song, along with several others, so I decided to check it out. This was the first concert I've ever been to that doesn't allow cell phones. You get a pouch as you walk in which prevents you from using your cell during the show. What I first thought as annoying actually added to the experience as everyone was engaged and people weren't distracted. You also didn't have teenage girls filming themselves dancing and mouthing the words which was a blessing. Beyond the no-phone policy, Jack White rocks out. He has a great voice. His band is amazing. He didn't talk much but gave it his all to put on a great performance. The energy in the crowd was infectious. 10/10!

    Fantastic Show!

by tammyj on 9/27/22Fillmore New Orleans - New Orleans

Jack and band played an awesome show at the Fillmore NO. And Daru moved over for Patrick Keeler to sit in on drums for a few songs. Such a treat!

    Phones free

by Janna on 9/27/22Bayou Music Center - Houston

First show I’ve been to with cell phone restriction. Other than not knowing what time it was, it really improved the experience. Everyone paid Jack the attention he deserves and he melted our faces off for it.

Jack White always kicks it in high gear

by Carrie on 9/27/22Bayou Music Center - Houston

Did not hear the opening act, so no comments there. Jack White and his band were ON FIRE. They all had high energy for the duration of the show. My one complaint - the online venue map. When purchasing tickets, I always try to get seats at the end of the row on an aisle. The seats I bought for this show were end of the row, but right next to the wall for the corridor below. Bummer

    Outstanding Show

by tammyj on 9/27/22Bayou Music Center - Houston

I saw Jack back in April in Atlanta, Friday in NO, Saturday in Houston and Sunday in Shreveport. The Houston show was by far the best of the 4 times. The band had definitely jelled since I saw them in April. But the crowd and our energy had Jack smiling A LOT during the show as they blew the roof off Bayou Center!

    Primadonna

by JC on 9/27/22Bayou Music Center - Houston

Always liked Jack White but this nonsense with the restricting of phones is the last straw for me. It is one thing to not allow pictures or phone use during the concert but to actually take your phone and lock it in a lock box is absolutely ridiculous. I am not a child and don't appreciate being treated like one. I will never go to another Jack White concert.

    Great show. Venue needs AC

by Robah on 9/26/22Fillmore New Orleans - New Orleans

Turn on the AC next time. Also the bathrooms could have been cleaner considering how much yall charge for shows at this venue.

    Fan-freaking-tastic!!

by Slackformark on 9/26/22Fillmore New Orleans - New Orleans

Jack was fantastic. Played old, new, and had a visual accompaniment that was on point. Crowd was into it, and Jack fed it right back. Best show I’ve seen in a minute (and I’m a New Orleanian who sees live music on the reg). Thanks Jack!!!

    Jack White

by Nolayogi on 9/26/22Fillmore New Orleans - New Orleans

This performance was a prayer to God. The best live performance I have ever seen. Miles Davis has now been surpassed. Absolutely ethereao. I can't say the same about the outdated venue and lack of organization getting people in and out.
