International Champions Cup North America Live

Picture this: Perennial contender for FIFA Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus, taking a pass from teammate Aaron Ramsey, dribbling past Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos and blasting a goal past goalkeeper Keylor Navas in front of a screaming crowd of 100,000 people. Normally, you'd have to be in Europe to witness this kind of marquee soccer action, but not when the International Champions Cup comes to North America each year. The North American portion of the Champions Cup brings together the most elite clubs in Europe before their respective seasons begin overseas, for an unparalleled display of world-class soccer across 11 U.S. stadiums. A 2014 match between Manchester United and Real Madrid at Michigan Stadium drew 109,318 fans and was in fact the highest attended soccer match ever on U.S. soil. The 2019 tournament features clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and for the first time, a Mexican team in Guadalajara F.C. The International Women's Cup starts a month after the Men's and features clubs like Lyon, Atlético Madrid, Manchester City and NC Courage.

International Champions Cup North America History

Since 2013, the International Champions Cup has been bringing the best soccer clubs in the world for exciting exhibition matchups in the U.S. What began as a separate cup for each region of the world is now centered primarily in North America, and a single winner is crowned based on the number of points after three round-robin matchups. In 2018, Tottenham Hotspur took home the cup with Borussia Dortmund as the runner-up. The nationwide venues for the tournament include football stadiums with a 70,000+ person capacity like Levi's Stadium in the Bay Area, MetLife Stadium in the New York area, NRG Stadium in Houston and others. Smaller, soccer-specific stadiums also play host to Cup matches like Kansas City's Children's Mercy Park, Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, SeatGeek Stadium near Chicago and more.

  • Soccer in the US

This was a great match up between two amazing European soccer clubs. It was nice to be able to catch a game here in the US. The only downfall was Americans don't quite understand the excitement of the game and celebrate like they do in Europe. It was WAY TOO QUITE. No chanting no singing only a roar when there was a goal or some amazing play.

  • Freaking AWESOME!!!

This game was AWESOME. It would have been slightly better had the official not blown some calls, but it was still a great game. They need to bring more professional matches to Indy.

For a chance to see 2 top-tier teams play on this side of the pond was an unforgettable experience. While the pitch left something to be desired, the intensity of play and amazing talents of the men on the field was worth every penny. Don't pass up a chance to see what real football looks like!!!

It was awesome to see a Barclay League team here in the states, but unfortunately, many of the starters didn't play-or played very little. Even so, it was well worth the trip to see it.

  • Guinness finally in Indy

    by Hobbit64 on 8/4/13Lucas Oil Stadium - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing to have two of the elite European teams playing in Indianapolis! The pitch was good considering the short time of being laid over the astroturf. The roof was open at Lucas Oil stadium to lend to an outdoor feel. The play was good considering both Chelsea and Inter Milan still in their pre-season. Really loved having pro soccer in Indy!

  • Top Quality Soccer

by isoglenn on 8/4/13Lucas Oil Stadium - IndianapolisRating: 4 out of 5

Game was great but the Lucas stadium was a disappointment. To few concessions and long lines. A killer climb up the ramp with Just two escalators that no one could give me directions! Pre-game party was good but again long lines for food and drink. Need an entrance at both ends.

Great to see top flight teams with their stars playing in our city. This should be an annual event.

Indianapolis should definitely host more tournaments of this ilk. We did it really well. Very impressive turn out, as well.

The view was great. My family had a wonderful time. Hope that another Premier League team visits Indy. A better turf would be great too.

  • I had to go

    by SoccerFan9454 on 8/4/13Lucas Oil Stadium - IndianapolisRating: 4 out of 5

I support Manchester United so it was a little bit awkward. All the Chelsea fans glared at me when we passed each other, but I didnt care. Ill wear my red devils shirt anywhere and with pride. When they announced that this game would be hosted 1 hour away from where I live, I had to go. No matter who was playing, I knew I had to go. Because previously I have had to travel at least 1000 miles to see a game between 2 top European clubs..and this one was practically in my backyard! The game its self was ok, too 1-sided for my liking. Inter didnt even show up! Chelsea played really well though and tried to make it interesting. There was a red card, a penalty, 2 things I have always wanted to see live! It was a really good experience, and I cant believe 40000 people showed up for a game in Indianapolis. I didnt think anyone here liked soccer. It was a real eye-opener honestly. Cant wait for Indy Eleven!

  • Guinness was Good!

by GCsoccer on 8/4/13Lucas Oil Stadium - IndianapolisRating: 4 out of 5

Awesome experience at Chelsea vs. Inter Milan. Our only disappointment is that the majority of the fans were sitting waiting to be entertained rather than up and into the match., Get excited peopole!
