Houston Texans Team History

Established in 1999 as Houston’s second NFL franchise (after the Oilers moved and became the Titans), the Houston Texans did not participate in their first official NFL season until 2002. In their first home opener, the Texans beat the Dallas Cowboys, 19-10, becoming the first NFL expansion team to win their opening game since the Vikings beat the Bears in 1961.

The Texans secured their first big win as the AFC South champions in 2011 and clinched their first berth into the playoffs. They have since secured the title seven more times, in 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2023 and 2024

  • F08/01/2025 Texans Training Camp

by Ms. TT on 8/8/25NRG Stadium - HoustonRating: 3 out of 5

This was an exciting birthday gift for my high school freshman. It couldn't have came at a better time. I am disappointed that I had to leave him there and not enjoy it for myself as I have been to an actual Texans game and it isn't as ADA friendly as NRG tries to say it is. We were the very first ones to arrive (at 0330/0400 hours). It was extremely difficult to figure out where we were to wait at, and although my metrolift driver had to circle around, having an actual harris county sheriff officer on the premises vs. a security guard was an A+! I am happy to see that they take pride in keeping out the critters (did not see any mice as I would have seen at the metrorail/bus stops - ew!) or else that would have cleared us out and my son would've been extremely upset with me. My son was disappointed that the lady checking his clear bag took an extremely long time and that pushed him back a bit further in the line. He wanted to get the attention of #24, but Stingley never looked in his direction as close as he was and yelled his name as loud as he could, so he was a bit disheartened, but that disappointing OPPORTUNITY challenged him to get his freshman jersey number....you guessed it, number 24 at Lamar High school!! (Lol) Overall, I am more concerned with not having the ability to rent a wheelchair and the outside not being more ADA friendly (metrolift drop/pickup signs, wheelchair rentals, sole-designated staffers for ADA population, etc..). This won't change that in my house we ride for the H - I just prayerfully hope that the ADA accommodations are taking into consideration. Especially since the Ability Expo was the same day/weekend.

  • My First Training Camp!

    by Mr C. on 8/5/25NRG Stadium - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Me and my son had a wonderful time at our first Houston Texans training camp! From waiting in line with other fans, hearing the Texans marching band, seeing Toro & cheerleaders, kids zone, getting wonderful food, having some snow cones to cool off, watching practices, & getting some items signed by our favorite players and coaches! Can’t wait to do it again with my family next year!

  • Exciting and fun

by Rod on 8/4/25NRG Stadium - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

My only complaint is not issuing wristbands for the bleachers this year. If you left your seat for a drink or restroom run you were not allowed back to seating area because more people took up those extra seats. Poorly managed
