HONNE IN CONCERT:
British future soul duo Honne has been steadily on the rise ever since their lusty debut single "Warm on a Cold Night" first heated up the blogosphere back in 2014. Since then they've released a handful of stellar EPs and become critical darlings in the UK while also building a loyal international fanbase with their sultry sound and seductive live performances. In concert core duo Andy (vocals) and James (producer) are joined by a full band, and the expanded lineup adds new dimension to sleek electronic tracks like "Coastal Love" and "All The Value" with live drums, bass, and backing vocals. Holding it all together is Andy's tender croon, a disarming force of nature that can make even the biggest venues feel like a dimly lit hideaway. Equal parts minimal and funky, Honne strike up a romantic groove every time they perform, leaving fans with a warm feeling— no matter how cold the night.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Andy and James met at university in the early '10s and started writing music together as Honne, a Japanese word meaning "real intention." They made their debut in late 2014 with a pair of EPs released on Super Recordings (the same label that launched Bondax and AlunaGeorge), and by 2015 they were selling out venues throughout London. Following the release of their third EP Coastal Love, which the pair released on their own label Tatamae Recordings in mid-2015, Andy and James put together a backing band and hit the summer festival circuit. The expanded lineup wowed fans at major fests like Great Escape, Field Day, and Latitude, drumming up major excitement for the mid-2016 release Honne's full-length debut album Warm On A Cold Night.
It was best concert I've ever been!!!! Can't wait for the next one.
this is the second time i got to see honne and they were great! loved that they brought back hablot brown to open for them too!
To be honest, I have been to quite a few concerts but nothing like HONNE. Andy and James are absolutely fun to watch perform and do what they love. They bring this amazing energy on stage and are extremely kind as well. They both popped in before the show to say hello to everyone waiting and were so happy and kind! Definitely one of my favorite artists who I'll be seeing once again :)
I've been waiting for Honne concert since Day 1. The venue was awesome!
I was really excited for this show because their most recent album is amazing. It sounds soulful, r&b, really cool beats, etc. Then at the show, they sounded like the chain smokers or something. They were nothing like the album.
I’m a huge Honne fan, who I discovered about three years ago while living in London. I have seen them twice there and now once in the US. Every show has been fantastic—they are just great live. Interactive and creative. I only recently introduced Honne to my girlfriend—she was blown away by their performance and is now a real fan!
Discovered Honne’s music and instantly connected with their chill urban vibe. Very fresh. So, when the announcement went out that the duo would perform at St. Andrews I was instantly on-board. We joined a small but excited queue and entered the forum. The local opening act was good not great so when the late arriving Honne finally made their appearance the crowd including me were more than ready to get on with the show we waited in the rain to see. We should have stayed at home given the sound quality and lack of enthusiasm of the duo. After the second song the bass went up, the stage filled with smoke and the live performance was over. I did not purchase tickets, book a hotel and travel to Michigan for such a sorry showing from Honne. How disappointing. We were underwhelmed by Honne’s show at St. Andrews to say the least.
had not been to Irving Plaza in a bit. Enjoyed the VIP balcony option. Felt comfortable and was able to enjoy the show.
Before I went to this concert I never knew about Honne. I found out who they were the Wednesday before and I can honestly say I’m happy I bought the ticket for $30 and went I listened to all the albums within the 2 days I had haha but I fell in love when I seen them live they sound absolutely amazing and were very interactive with the crowd I loved it!❤️❤️
Better than panorama last year. They played nice versions of the first album and all the great songs of their last album. Good balance.
Can I just say I got Ed Sheeran tickets (who I love) and I completely forgot about that because I was so looking forward to Honne?! And I loved their music online, but IN PERSON, HOLY MOLY IT WAS A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL. ANDY AND JAMES WERE ABSOLUTE GODS, AND BECA WAS AMAZING TOO AND IT JUST THE WHOLE THING MADE ME FEEL SO WARM INSIDE AND MY FRIEND WAS CRYING BECAUSE THEIR LYRICS HIT HER DAMN HARD AND A RANDOM WEIRD STRANGER HUGGED ME AND THAT WAS FINE BECAUSE HONNE. WAS. SO. AMAZING. I don't ever get concert merch but I got their tour shirt because it was a) aesthetically pleasing, as per Honne's vibe and b) i NEEDED to commemorate that night. PLEASE COME BACK TO PHILLY SOON!
Loved the show, they played a great set list, they were very down to earth and engaging well with the crowd and the venue was terrific for the vibe of the concert.
I totally enjoyed this show! Honne is a very talented group and definitely sets a very chill mood. That being said, they still got the audience excited and into it. Great show! Highly recommended to you bring someone you're attracted to :)
they are completely breathtaking live. they did every song on their album, plus a few extras— well after we begged for another song ;). i'll definitely see them again!!
I saw Honne March 23, 2016. It was the most amazing experience. Voices were so genuine and they performed their hearts out. I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. I will definitely see them again when they go on tour.
Incredible, lighting performance everything! Truly talented band and even though the songs are mellow and relaxing on recording the live version sound 5x better live and you can dance, bump, chill and groove to the music. Honestly it was a great experience! I truly love this band and I can't wait for their future shows!
