About

Holy Fawn on Tour

A melting pot of shoegaze, black metal and post-rock, the Arizona quartet known as Holy Fawn has a singular sound all their own. Their Spotify bio says they're "Four creatures making loud, heavy, pretty noises," and it's a befitting description.

Their 2018 debut album, Death Spells, was Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe's favorite album of that year and was listed in Stereogum's Top 50 Best Albums of 2018 alongside Rolo Tomassi and Drug Church.

In September of 2022, they released their second album, Dimensional Bleed. It's their first LP release in almost five years and has hit the ground fast and furious, racking up over 5 million streams in just two months.

At a Holy Fawn live concert, you will most definitely experience the gamut of loud, heavy and pretty sounds and lyrics.

Holy Fawn Live in Concert

The Phoenix-based quartet Holy Fawn consists of Ryan Osterman (vocals, guitar), Evan Phelps (guitar), Austin Reinholz (drums), and Alexander Rieth (bass).

The start of Holy Fawn was more of an accident than a plan. Phelps, Rieth and Osterman got to know each other as coworkers, and Phelph and Reinholz were roommates. They started getting together to improvise, and it went from being a weekly ritual to a formed band. Some of the recordings from those sessions became the band's first EP, 2015's Realms.

In an interview with Everything is Noise, they say the band's name is "meant to represent the sacredness of nature and the presence of psychic connections and extradimensional realms outside of us and within us."

Osterman says many of his lyrics are inspired by dreams he's had or just being in nature. He carries a notebook to capture thoughts and lyrics as they come. Growing up, he listened to a lot of Bright Eyes and Elliott Smith, and he's a fan of Divii and Sigur Rós. But they say their aesthetic is also influenced by the words of Cormac McCarthy (The Road and No Country for Old Men) and indie documentaries like Horizon.

    Loud heavy pretty noises

by Judas Coyne on 10/29/23The Echo - Los Angeles

Holy Fawn is a band that deserves to be WAY bigger than they are, and until they are properly recognized, I will continue to enjoy more intimate shows like this. Absolutely beautiful and powerful music, huge sound scape, silky smooth vocals and then crushing heaviness and perfect black metal screams. Treat yo self and see Holy Fawn whenever you can.
