Cold as Ever, but Ice Action was HOT!

by CarolZCorn on 1/3/14Comerica Park - Detroit

It was so great to see most of my alumni favorites out on that ice again! They all looked like they were having so much fun, which made the fans happy, and although it was colder than heck out there, it was a fun, fantastic day.

    Truly an amazing experience.

by JoslynxMarie on 1/3/14Comerica Park - Detroit

Although it was brutally cold, getting to see all the old guys come back and play was a great experience, and on top of that we had AWESOME seats that ended up being right behind where the players walked out!

    Alumni showdown was amazing

by Cirquemomma on 1/3/14Comerica Park - Detroit

We took our family down toComerica park to see the Alumni Showdown. It was a star filled day but most seats were tough to see from views were not fabulous unless you we're in the upper deck.

Employees need better Customer service skills.

    by Shanel620Shanel620 on 1/3/14Comerica Park - Detroit

The Games were great. The process of getting my tickets and the employee attitude was a different story. I was not informed at the time of purchase that I could not print my tickets at home. I always wait until the day of so I don't miss place them so when I couldn't print them the havoc made us leave late. After calling customer service, found out that we had to pick up at will call. Went to the usual will call windows was directed to walk the opposite direction to the other side of the park. Got to where the guy said to go and was told we had to right back to where we came from. After 30 min of walking around the building waited in line at will call for another 30 min. Over hearing the issues that came up in front of us made me very frustrated that they were not more organized, being that their job is to provide tickets and passes at will call they should have a better faster method. In place. Since the venue didn't allow tickets to be printed at home and no one was a ware of that most everyone in line was in the same boat. Finally got in and almost every employee we encountered was unfriendly and super slow and doing what they are paid to do. Made the whole start to the day extremely frustrating. The game itself was great and my friends and I had a great time after that. I feel that for $70 a ticket and $10 a drink I should receive much better Customer service.

    Extremely cold, but amazing!

by ComeBackLidstrom on 1/3/14Comerica Park - Detroit

This was the event to be at for longtime fans of both the Red Wings and Maple Leafs legends! Both teams put on a great show (some even surprising performances from the 'old timers' like Mickey Redmond and Red Berenson), and it was just a great day to turn back the clock and see these players on the hockey rink one last time.

cost of seats was ridiculous for the view we had

by livethedreameveryday on 1/3/14Comerica Park - Detroit

I am a loyal supporter of sports in Detroit but was EXTREMELY disappointed for the view from the seats that I paid $90 for!!!! I should have stayed home and watched on tv for that price Those seats should have been about $40 !!! bummer also, we had hoped for more souvenir shirts for the alumni game-did we miss them? They were all for the Winter Classic at the big house and none for the Winter Festival that we paid $90 for!!! total disappointment

Alumni Games--great to see the Old Gang!

by LinnieSue on 1/3/14Comerica Park - Detroit

The Alumni Games were amazing, fun to watch! Overall experience was great. Crowds were upbeat and friendly, really into the spirit of the event! Several complaints though. Printing extra tickets purchased online via Ticketmaster was BLOCKED the day of the event, prompting a call to inquire AND having to stand in line at Will Call. They said it was Olympia Entertainment; I say it was inconvenient, short sighted and, frankly, stupid! Then there were no actual tickets, only a handwritten "pass"--ONE per group, forcing them to move about together to use the pass. No tickets to save from the event, and no advance warning of this policy! Also, moving in and out of the Winterfest event was ridiculous. Putting the warmers/marshmallow toasters at the entrance/exit created huge bottlenecks; poor planning!!!

    Legends and More!

by camnrobsmom on 1/3/14Comerica Park - Detroit

The alumni game was amazing! some fans expected a different level of play, but, for us, it felt like we were at a party and they were letting us be part of it. To see Gordie Howe and other greats was beyond thrilling. Sight lines are not great when hockey rinks are placed in baseball stadiums, but we expected that. The only glitch was that I had the "print at home" option, and I was unable to print at home and had to go to will call. It took a confusing phone call to sort this out. We went to the winter classic the next day, and this combination made for an unforgettable way to enter in the New Year!

Winter classic alumni game was awesome!

    by Missyt121 on 1/3/14Comerica Park - Detroit

The only bad thing I have to say about this game was Comerica park blocked off the concourse so we couldn't walk all the way around- when it was 10 degrees outside, making that extra long trip around SUCKED!! Overall, it was GREAT to see all the old timers back in action!

    So many Hall of Famers!

by Spazlucy on 1/3/14Comerica Park - Detroit

Great time, great venue. 35,000 fans in the frigid weather says it all. Too long of delay between the two games led to people getting cold and leaving the 2nd game early. Overall great time.

Great time! The winter weather was part of the fun. What a chance to see so many hockey greats all in one place. Wish there had been more hot coffee available - don't really like cocoa that much.

    Couldn't see anything

by ArthurCag on 1/2/14Comerica Park - Detroit

There was no note saying that the seats would have a limited view. It was frustrating to get seats with no view at all. I could only see their heads moving around. Also, the system was supposed to book the best seats but turned out to book the worst ones (closest to the field).

Great seats and a great event. Nothing better than watching young talent play in the outdoors!

    GLI 1st day was excellent

by MrSmallshot on 12/31/13Comerica Park - Detroit

I would recommend almost* any outdoor hockey tourney / event, especially GLI, to even the most casual hockey fan. "Fan Zone" tents & events were well staffed, well done, fun & interesting...not to mention the tents were a good place to work off the chill. Even some things for kids to do like open skating rink and kindof a "pick up" street hockey game. Stand-up snack tables all over with wood-burning barrels in the middle - great place to warm the digits after holding a cold Molson with no gloves....plus smelled great. Spent $10 to park in a dirt lot on the corner of Woodward & Henry - no problem. * One suggestion is to significantly "overdress" for ALL outdoor hockey events. I went on the first day of GLI, which was the warmest by far (36 degrees F @ 1:30 pm), and definitely warmer than the alumni event at the big house. I layered like hell, why I'm not sure...but it was JUST enough. Suggest at least doubling whatever you think you'll need to keep warm. However, gotta admit I saw alot of people wearing alot less..so maybe my wimp factors started to significantly impact the perception...who knows. Keeping warm (...duh) is why I recommend "almost" any outdoor hockey event. Could be there is a nasty wind chill combined with sub-human temps that will have you asking "why" the next day...especially with less-than-adequate prep. SO DRESS WARM !

Outdoor Hockey Games not worth it

    by JRH3 on 12/31/13Comerica Park - Detroit

You cannot see the game very well. Watched most of it on the big screen. Ice was bad and made for a choppy game. A waste of time and money

    Amazing time

by GHench on 12/27/13Comerica Park - Detroit

Can't wait to do it again. Only suggestions: about 50 less people per session. And attach waiver to the ticket email so you can bring it with already signed.
