by Hexi1974 on 9/22/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonAwesome performance trying to capture the hearts of the US audience and keeping his German speaking fans happy at the same time. Great energy throughout, connected with the audience with little stories between songs. Small intimate setting makes this a completely new concert experience, if you've seen him in sold out football stadiums. I wish him the best of luck for his remaining US tour and hope he'll return.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Herbert Grönemeyer is unparalleled
by PhantomTF on 9/20/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonThe concert was amazing - Herr Grönemeyer was masterful at switching between English and German language, even within the same song. The comparative small venue allowed for a more intimate and personal experience. The songs ranged from those on his new English album to some old English/German favorites. He came back for an amazing two encores, keeping the music flowing. I wish him much success in America and hope he comes back soon.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Gronemeyer is a fabulous musician.
by Gittelchen on 9/20/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonThe acoustic at the Wilbur Theater is not doing justice to such concerts as Gronemeyer and his band.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Grönemeyer in Boston!
by Trullo1 on 9/20/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonIt was great fun listening to Herbert Grönemeyer again! Was at a concert in Germany a few years back. That was terrific too. He got a bit older in the meantime but didn't loose any of his enthusiasm. Wasn't enough German for me. Could have been more. But still - I will go again if he turns up in Boston!
Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 9/20/13Wilbur Theatre - Boston Amazing concert of germanys beloved Herbert Groenemeyer with home style atmosphere. Everyone who has seen one of his stadium concerts should absolutly take this opportunity to see him in smaller venues! Played lots of his all time favorites like Bochum, Flugzeuge im Bauch (Planes in my head), Alcohol, Mensch and many more!
Rating: 4 out of 5 Herbert still got it!
by TinaSch on 9/20/13Wilbur Theatre - Boston5 Stars for Herbert and band, -1 star for the seats. I grew up with his music way back when I lived in Germany, so I was excited that he came to Boston. I don't quite enjoy my favorite songs in english as much as I do the german version, but part of the problem was that I got seats in the Balcony section and the accustics up there were very poor. Also, the lighting was in your face so that I could hardly make out the band. Seats on the ground floor were still available but it was not possible to exchange the tickets at the venue. We were able to sneak to one of the lower levels and things were vastly improved. Herbert was as lively as I remember him, the crowd was enthusiastic, especially when he threw in some german lines. Raving applause, he came out 3 more times and played 45 min of extras songs, some in german. Upbeat and fun!! The small venue was perfect for getting a close-up look (if you chose the right seats). Also got the VIP ticket from friends for meeting the band after the concert in a restaurant across the street, but Herbert showed up for about 10 min and was circled by fans wanting pictures, not worth it.

by Frank66 on 9/20/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonGrönemeyer's break through LP "Bochum" came out just before I graduated high school; part of anybody's growing up in Germany at that time, his classics still fresh in my mind every day. Ever since those days Grönemeyer has probably never played in Germany in anything less than a soccer stadium, so seeing him in Boston up front and close at the Wilbur was very special. I left Germany in 1991, so this was a re-introduction to the new, grown Grönemeyer. I had expected him to play his signature songs, in German, me singing along. There was some of that. But he really captivated me with his new songs, beautiful ballads "Will I ever learn" and lyric rock of depth and beauty. His voice and range still incredible, his dance style unique, minimalist, fun to watch, groovy. My loss for not having gotten his new album "I walk" beforehand - I would have loved singing along. Great concert. Best of luck, Herbert, I really hope you win a US audience with this tour.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Touching moments with Herbert Grönemeyer!
by Norberto66 on 9/20/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonThe Herbert Grönemeyer concert was one of the great experiences this year. He presented music from his new album " I walk" and famous older titles with his unbelievable voice, being a great very friendly, personable and enthusiastic artist. His band produced a great sound. Herbert Grönemeyer in the US - a must go, see and hear for all friends of great concerts!
Rating: 5 out of 5 Absolutely epic concert !
by esdime on 9/20/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonHe did an excellent job briding the English and German music parts. Promoting his new album but also satisfying the crowd. I am so glad I went. Only to be recommended ! Typical Groenemeyer songs, traditional American songs, some of his greatest hits. Sensitive and wild at times. What an inspiration.
Rating: 4 out of 5by Anonymous on 9/19/13Irving Plaza powered by Klipsch - New York To be so close the Herbert was a dream come true. He is such a spirited yet humble person and you could tell how much he loves to perform. However, 90 percent of his audience were German longing to sing along to his songs that carried us through so many stages in life. While I understand that he wanted to promote his new English music he should have done the switch to the German lyrics rather soon than later and ended the show with Männer.

by MickSC on 9/17/13Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaLoved, loved, loved Groenemeyer’s concert in Atlanta . . . I’ve been a fan for close to 30 years and have not had a chance to see him live for more than 20 years. My sister came all the way from Germany to go to the concert with me. I got us meet & greet tickets and we had a blast! It should be no surprise that this English-vs-German-songs-thing is such a mixed ‘bag o’ bones’ . . . German fans are clamoring for more songs in German, but Groenemeyer is in the US to promote his English album. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for him. However, Groenemeyer and his Band did not disappoint and did an outstanding job with their show. I was thrilled when people stood up and danced in the aisles and didn’t just stay seated . . . because no matter what language Groenemeyer sings in, not dancing and not having a fun and marvelous time just isn’t an option at a Groenemeyer concert!
Rating: 5 out of 5 Herbert can rock it in English, too!

Rating: 5 out of 5 Herbert Groenemeyer was fantastic
by Lombamensch on 9/14/13Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaHerbert Groenemeyer was absolutely wonderful. I wished I would have bought the meet and greet tickets. For being such a huge artist in Germany (since decades), he is very humble and down to earth. I hope he takes the American audience by storm- he deserves it. He did three encores- which was great. This concert was lots of fun and I would go again in a heartbeat. Thank you Herbert for bringing a piece of "Heimat" to Atlanta.

Rating: 3 out of 5 Great showman but few classics
by DCfoot on 9/14/13930 Club - WashingtonHG put on a great show. He had lots of energy as if he was still 25yo. But it was clear that his goal was to promote his English language album. I thought he was kidding he said that "we'll play our new songs, then maybe a few German songs at the end." but he really did play 1hr of English songs, then ~three German songs at the end. The crowd, being heavily German, was yelling the entire time for classics and looked bored for much of the English set. So while he's a great showman, he should give the people more what they wanted.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Germany rocks!
by GreenFly71 on 9/14/13Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaI loved the concert! Herbert Groenemeyer was kind, appreciative of the audience, funny and passionate. The song selection was good, though I wished he had chosen a few more "signature" songs. I think it's great that he sang in English - since it was a U.S. concert -, though I think the - more German - audience would have preferred him singing more German songs. It was a great atmosphere even though it was not a sold-out crowd: People were dancing, singing along, clapping, and having a good time. Two hours straight! For me personally, it was a flashback to 27 years ago when I heard him live in Germany - unbelievable how he's still able to rock and roll!! I love his music, his lyrics, and his attitude and personality. A great artist!
