About

In describing Henry Rollins, the tendency is to try to squeeze as many labels as possible into a single sentence. "Rollins is many things," says The Washington Post, "diatribist, confessor, provocateur, humorist, even motivational speaker...his is an enthusiastic and engaging chatter." Entertainment Weekly's list includes "Punk Rock icon. Spoken word poet. Actor. Author. DJ. Is there anything this guy can't do?" TV Guide has more concisely called him a "Renaissance Man" but if Henry Rollins could be reduced to a single word, that word would undoubtedly be "workaholic." When he's not traveling, Rollins prefers a to keep a relentless schedule full of work, with gigs as an actor, author, DJ, voice-over artist and TV show host to name a few of the roles that keep his schedule full. Rollins has toured the world as a spoken word artist, as frontman for both Rollins Band and Black Flag and as a solitary traveler with insatiable curiosity, favoring road-less-traveled locales in places such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, Siberia, North Korea, South Sudan and Iran.

    He's a machine!

by OpticianE on 3/1/10Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Three nonstop amazing hours of stories from the road. He spoke of commencement addresses, RuPaul's LadyBoys, his experiences on the set of Sons of Anarchy, the trip he made to places far and wide (Sri Lanka, Saudia Arabia, the Sahara Music Festival - just to name a few)... I was enthralled the whole time - he's such a student of the world, his hunger for knowledge and experiences was tangible. ... incredible.

    Pure Solid and Classic Rollins

by TheBlackSwan on 3/1/10Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Towards the beginning of the show, Rollins talked about a ticket being a contract and a vote to deliver the goods in exchange for our time and money on a Sunday night, the time for which we will never have back again. I'm pleased to say that he always delivers. Over his career he's gone through a lot of roles from punk rock singer to spoken word artist, but now it seems like his general style of monologue is a commentary on his world view which he cultivates by getting out there and seeing what the world is made of. He certainly reflects the sensibilities of the audience, and always brings it back to us with humor, insight and thoughtfulness. In all it's like watching an old friend you haven't seen in a year come back and tell you what he's been up to. Highly recommended. It should also be noted that he stood on stage and talked for three solid hours without pausing, going to the bathroom, or taking a single sip of water. Whatever he's taking, I want some of THAT!

    Hello! Goodbye!

This is always a great experience. Great venue too. Mr. Rollins never disappoints and he is always willing to greet fans. Three hours go by and it feels like it isn't enough.

What more can be said? It's Rollins. He started right on time and didn't stop to take a breath for 3 straight hours. Full of angst, compassion, and hilarious impressions, he is the man.

Loved it as always. For 3 hours this man spoke, and did not stop once. It is an absolute breath of fresh air when you hear someone as down to earth as Henry is. Thank you for a great show.

    Rollins was rockin...

by TMOTEX on 2/28/10Lakewood Theater - Dallas

I thoroughly enjoyed this spoken word event. I loved the way Henry flowed so smoothly from topic to topic and kept the audience engaged, laughing and contemplative the whole night. The show started right at 8 and when it ended, I looked down at my watch and was dismayed when I realized it had been almost 3 hours. Fastest 3 hours of my life. I will definitely go again.

Rollins was amazing! Both my wife and I are fans of his work, from punk to spoken word. He was a million times better in person than via CD. I would recommend anyone to go see his show. It was brilliant and I can't wait to go see him live again.

Henry ALWAYS puts me in a good mood! Loved it! Next time I think he should host an old fashioned revival lock in! Maybe at the YMCA at White Rock.

    Henry Rollins Brings It

    by Cord01 on 2/25/10Lakewood Theater - Dallas

I have been a fan of Henry Rollins for about 21 years. I have seen Henry perform with Rollins Band, and I have seen Henry do his talking shows. There is never a moment where you feel Henry is not 'into it'. You might not agree with what he thinks, you might not like his music, but you will never doubt his intensity or his ability to vocalize the harmony in his head. Some artists as they get older seem to loose the spark that made people pay their hard earned bio survival tickets to experience their shows. Not with Henry. I will continue to show up and watch Henry be Henry as long as he can, because Henry brings it.

    A Beautiful Mind

by LibbyLouInDFW on 2/25/10Lakewood Theater - Dallas

I always enjoyed Rollins' music and spoken word, but it wasn't until I heard him speak at this event that I truly understood what an amazing human being he was. For three hours he dispensed an almost stream-of-conscience flow of thought, covering topics ranging from Texas to Tibet, to international insane taxi drivers - all the while aggressively leaning into the mic as if he was spewing hardcore punk. It was more than awesome. It made me want to be a better person... not a sentiment I would have ever expected to leave with. No offense, Henry.

This Henry Rollins Spoken Word was time well spent. I have wanted to see one for almost 15 years and everything worked out so I could attend this time around. He spoke for two hours and forty minutes. That was 160 minutes of at times challenging but always thought provoking insight with splashes of humor. There were no breaks, intermissions, or BS just an incredible journey.

    An Evening with Henry

by SuzanC on 2/25/10Lakewood Theater - Dallas

Three hours with Henry and I wound up buying a CD with a hundred and forty more minutes. I've loved Henry Rollins since he was with Black Flag, one of the greatest punk bands ever. His stream of consciousness spoken word art is an autodidatic, adventrue into a bohemian literary tradition one can easily trace back to Jack Kerouac's writings. He is hip, very political and funny.

    Henry Rollins was SPOT ON!

by Yossarian on 2/25/10Lakewood Theater - Dallas

Henry Rollins show at the Lakewood Theater in Dallas, TX was awesome. He engaged the audience from the word go and never let up until he finished 2 hours and 48 minutes later. He covered a variety of topics and NONE of it was stale. From Texas secession to Thanksgiving at William Shatner's house to Bad Brains to his stint on Son's of Anarchy to going to Africa, it was all interesting and he had the intnesity and energy level you expect from Henry Rollins. The guy REALLY connects with the audience. I highly recommend seeing him if you get the chance.

    Henry Rollins..wow

by KerriNoir on 2/25/10Lakewood Theater - Dallas

The show last night was amazing. He spoke for about 3 hours on topics ranging from politics to his travels and the adventures he has on them. My butt felt the 3 hours (the seats in the Theater were a wee bit uncomfy) but my attention span did not notice the 3 hours going by at all! I could listen to this man speak all day and night.

    Rollins rocks it again!

by cookiefanatic on 2/24/10House of Blues Houston - Houston

Another excellent performance from one of the modern marvels of the spoken word! This show was a little heavier on political commentary than I've heard before, but still a lot of fun. Always enjoy hearing stories from his travels across the world to the places I wish I had the time and money to go to and stories from back in his touring days.
