    top flight in tennis

by Billt on 12/27/18Neal S Blaisdell Arena - Honolulu

We are rarely able to see top players on the ATP and WTA tours compete here locally. It was a rare treat to see the likes of Nishikori and Raonic at close range. Nishikori is quicker than he appears on TV and Raonic has really developed his net game. It was a match of a very good server versus a skilled opponent with an equally excellent return game. The venue was okay at best. Cash only is contrary to the way that business is now being conducted. Love kids, but please discourage bringing young babies to the event. Most are well behaved but it only takes one baby crying at a crucial time in the match to affect the scoring in that match.

The Hawaii Open 3 day pass was a great deal

    by G. Y. on 12/26/18Neal S Blaisdell Arena - Honolulu

The event was very enjoyable and worth the price of the 3 day pass. However, the seat location was horrible. The riser in front of us was so high that every time someone stood at the top of the stairs, no one could see. The view was only for half of the court and you could barely see the top of the player's head. I know the entire loge was sold out but no one sat there. We had to sit in general admission seats for all three days. Please do not offer the loges behind the raised risers if you have this event next year. We also had friends that were upset because the diagram had placed the umpire's stand on one side of the court and when they went to the event, they saw that it was on the opposite side. I think it is really frustrating because we all purchased our tickets so early and if we were given the loge and stand information, we would have made different choices.

    Hawaii Open was Fantastic!

    by J. S. on 12/26/18Neal S Blaisdell Arena - Honolulu

We loved the up close feeling of watching the pros play tennis. The Blaisdell Center was preferable to the previous CORP location the last couple of years I attended. The men’s and women’s Finals were exciting to watch live. Will definitely attend next year again!

Good but lots can be done for a better fan experience

    by C. P. on 12/26/18Neal S Blaisdell Arena - Honolulu

Since it was an exhibition event it would have been more fun to have more interactions with the crowd. They need a speed clock for serving, a large video board for replays, camera challenge the poor line calls. Those are just some ideas.

    Great Format!

by Chuck G on 12/26/18Neal S Blaisdell Arena - Honolulu

The HTA hit a home run with the Hawaii Open this year! Great job securing the headliner Nishikori, whose following in Honolulu was quite impressive! Inviting the 2 local boys to play was genius as well, as it increased the level of interest even further. The tennis on the final day was really good, and it looked like the players all enjoyed themselves. Their willingness to sign autographs and take photos after the matches made the experience that much better. Overall great job to the tournament organizers!

    Amazing gift

    by L. Z. on 12/26/18Neal S Blaisdell Arena - Honolulu

It was really amazing holiday gift to the Hawaii tennis fans, but one thing, that I feel is little disappoint is some referees missed the call out or didn’t call out, the other things are super good.

    Could be better

    by M. Y. on 12/26/18Neal S Blaisdell Arena - Honolulu

The tournament format was good and the players fantastic. However, the placement of the umpire chair in relation to the N side of the arena severely restricted viewing of the court. From my seat in row three nearly half of the mauka side of the tennis court was obstructed. I asked the ushers if I could change to the opposite side of the arena. But I had to sit up in row 10. You have to do something about the placement of the empire chair. I don’t see how the people who sat On that site could be happy with the viewing obstruction of the court.

Hawaii, a good destination for professional tennis fans.

by Jim. K. on 12/26/18Neal S Blaisdell Arena - Honolulu

I really enjoyed it. Seating was good and most of the fans could see quite well from anywhere. The food selection was very limited. The star players were very good, with a few gaps in suitable opponents for a couple of matches only. I will definitely buy three day passes for next year and hopefully the management will continue to grow the matches with the attraction of more tennis superstars. Aloha, Jimmy Z

The higher ranked players made this years event a lot better. Would definitely go back next year.
