About

Hatsune Miku is a music software developed by Crypton Future Media, INC., which enables anyone to make their computer sing by entering lyrics and melodies. As a massive number of users created music using the software and posted their works on the Internet, Hatsune Miku quickly evolved into a cultural phenomenon. Since then, Hatsune Miku has gained much attention as a character, involved in many fields such as merchandising and live performance as a virtual singer. Now her popularity has spread across the globe.

  • Half Baked but Edible

by Lyn on 10/2/24Rating: 4 out of 5

The performers were great and the concert was enjoyable it just wasn’t what was expected of a proper Miku Expo. The LED screen, issues with merch/lightsticks, and lack of organization left much to be desired. A disappointing first Miku Expo for me but still a good time.

  • Worst Miku Expo(2024) To Date

by Nikki on 7/22/24Rating: 2 out of 5

This gotta be by far the worst organized Miku Expo to date. I wasn’t expecting the Willy Wonka experience when previously the quality was far superior. The lack of a transparent screen soured the experience by a lot. It was never clear which line the VIP line started to enter the venue. The setlist was incredibly mid and was mostly songs that were performed during Miku Expo 2023 VR. For an anniversary concert, it failed to bring the anniversary portion into the concert. The 2022 Rewind concert felt more of an anniversary concert than 2024. Getting merchandise from the venue was a nightmare and everything sold out. I am hopeful that the next Miku Expo will be a better quality as long as Crunchyroll stays away from Miku.

  • Nearly Perfect Experience

by Joey on 5/30/24Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Great setlist, amazing energy from the band, the feeling of just being there is unmatched, and the crowd themselves were just as great. All super cool and/or super polite. The one gripe I had personally was that they decided to forego the hologram that they typically use in favor of an LED screen. The lack of official lightsticks was also disappointing. It generally felt poorly handled. Maybe they somehow underestimated the turnout for the event? Either way, I can only hope that future Miku Expos are even better. Definitely looking forward to future Miku Expo events regardless.

  • Miku! Miku! Miku!

by Arzach on 5/24/24Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

My daughter has been a Miku fan for years and has always wanted to see her live, but she has never come to Minneapolis where we live! She always comes to Chicago on her tours, so this year for my daughter's birthday I took her to Chi for the concert. Chicago is always fun, and this concert was the capstone. The experience couldn't have been more perfect. One of my daughter's "mutuals"asked her to find a particular content creator at the show who was handing out stickers. We were dubious, but she was standing right there when we walked in! We got the stickers. The show itself was very entertaining. The fans are committed to the end, and about 50% were cosplaying. So many Miku's! The energy was super-positive, and highly female. My daughter had showed me the light stick movements, so we were right there with 99% of the crowd. How embarrassing to forget your light stick! YMMV, but the nonsense about only $40 "official"light sticks being allowed was indeed nonsense. Like Chicago concert security would give a single fox about that anyway! The show itself was seamless. We were pretty far back, and the performers including Miku looked about like any performer from that distance. I'm broadly familiar with Miku's catalog, and she ripped through a representative sample. Her follow Vocaloids showcased as well. Finally, the live band was uniformly impressive, great players all. I particularly like the guitarist Vixen's Diary, both for playing and stage performance. Overall this was a wonderful concert experience, which I'm sure my daughter will remember the rest of her life.

  • Great Energy and Amazing Band

    by Laura R on 5/22/24Coca-Cola Coliseum - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Was a great concert with loads of energy from the band and the crowd. The band was absolutely phenomenal. I mean wow! Our seats were great but being so close to the front speakers, ear protection was required. Only other downside concert wise was that we didn’t get the full hologram experience but just a screen projection. Still great quality but a bit disappointing.

  • A fun experience!

by emac on 5/21/24Coca-Cola Coliseum - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

My 12 year has been talking about Miku Expo forever. We surprised them the day of. It was so wonderful seeing my child so happy. The show was so much fun! The only thing disappointing was that merch wasn’t available for purchase upon arrival. It was heartbreaking to see my kid not able to get a souvenir.

  • Concert 8/10 but compared to other miku concerts? 6/10

by Mari on 5/20/24Coca-Cola Coliseum - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

This was actually my first concert and I found it very enjoyable and fun! I wish I was aware about how early you had to be to get any merch. My only complains are no hologram thr set list of music was pretty mid this time around and characters only got to perform one song each except for miku then only one duo which is sad! It being a Screen really robbed the whole experience for a lot of people, and next time when tickets are being bought people should be told that they are paying for a TV screen and not the hologram

  • Unorganized

by Link on 5/20/24Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 1 out of 5

Spend so much money on concert and was supposed to have 1hr merch access…. The place was unorganized, to expensive even after I payed 2k for the tickets. Got there 1hr 30 mins early and I still had to wait inline they let everyone in and by the time I got to the merch it was almost all sold out. No one was outside helping guide people to where they needed to go. It was not worth spending 2,000 on the concert. Poor experience ever

  • Lacking in several areas

by Jax on 5/19/24Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

I love Miku and this being my first Expo I was beyond excited to see her. But the screen was so small and hard to see with the lighting arrangement. The sound quality was also so bad it made my head and ears hurt. I had to leave early and ultimately wished I had not gone at all. I hope Crunchyroll never gets to do events like these again.
