About

Hasan Minhaj is a two-time Peabody Award-Winning comedian best known for his breakout Netflix special HOMECOMING KING and his critically acclaimed, political satire show PATRIOT ACT WITH HASAN MINHAJ for Netflix which won a Peabody, an Emmy, and a Television Academy Honor. His second one-hour comedy special THE KING'S JESTER premiered on Netflix in 2022. In October 2024, Hasan released his third comedy special on Netflix, titled OFF WITH HIS HEAD. In the debut episode, Hasan spoke with Senator Elizabeth Warren, and he's also welcomed John M. Chu, JJ Redick, Bernie Sanders, and Stacey Abrams, among many others.

He will next star in Disney's TRON: ARES that will be released theatrically in October 2025. Hasan is the co-founder and chief executive officer of 186K Films, which is currently in development on their first feature film. • Amazing show!

by Tas on 3/2/24Meridian Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Could not stop laughing the entire time. Loved the show and the meaningful thoughts that Hasan shared. We are originally from Montreal, and discovering the Meridian Hall was quite nice as well. A big thank you to Hasan!! :)

  • Truly great

by AlBilly on 2/27/24Meridian Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It was a really great hour by Hasan. It's probably the closest thing to a traditional "special"that he's done so far, and it was a really fun show to watch.

  • striving to be thought provoking without being provocative

by bugdoctor on 2/27/24Meridian Hall - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

It was a decent show... solid B+. But not as punchy or thought provoking as his previous work. There were some good jokes... but there wasn't any major plot or story line. Half the time he was on inner workings of US politics (which is one, but not everyone cares about US political dynasties), while other half he was taking stabs at New Yorker on the recent controversy ("don't fact check me"). He represents a unique and growing demographic - second generation (mostly brown) children of immigrant, who grew up in a third culture US/Canada. At the same time, he also represents the cultural and political leanings of progressive(ish), middle/ upper middle class, university educated millennials. As someone from a somewhat similar demographic, I can relate with his work. His observations are on point and his jokes are funny. However, in this show, Hassan was too passive-aggressive, trying to be out-there without going out of the box, striving to be thought provoking without being provocative. I guess this is a tale of the times we live in; too bad another good comedian / social observer has to fall victim to this mentality.

  • Didn’t disappoint! We laughed non stop

He was extremely funny…watching him in person was even better than watching him on Netflix. Had the best time with my girlfriends

  • Inside baseball for Indians

by SVinTO on 2/27/24Meridian Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Loved seeing a brown comic in a room of brown people talking so inside baseball only we could get it. Well anyone could get it but only we lived it. Bravo!

  • Amazing show

Great show from beginning warm up performers and Hasan killed the show as well! Amazing show!

  • repetitive jokes

by nk on 2/26/24Meridian Hall - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The show was nice but a lot of jokes are repetitive. Jokes that he’s said on talk shows, I really thought he’d come up with something new and original for his show.

  • Hasan Minhaj gave me a core memory

by Zain on 2/26/24Meridian Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

As someone who grew up loving Patriot Act, watching the show regularly, waiting every week for a new episode, I had the time of my life. Hasan is a talented comedian, and his interactions with the audience, albeit limited are hilarious. He is relatable, he’s funny, and he’s charming. I look forward to seeing him in future shows in Toronto!

  • SO GOOD

by kz on 2/21/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I loved how personal Hasan was and how he catered to the DC audience. Cheeks hurt from smiling all night.

  • Great Show

by Shai on 2/20/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Great show! Hassan was his usual self- educationally hilarious! It was well worth it. The venue was also perfect. We were further back but could see him just fine.

  • Encapsulating experience

by Pk on 2/20/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Hasan is a true talent. I was engaged from start to finished, and didn't lose ny grin for a second.

  • Love his thought-provoking humor

by ShukuraC on 2/20/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

He was awesome as was the gentleman that opened the show. Hasan knows how to be funny yet can also add a bit of seriousness to his comedy. He makes you think while you’re laughing. I really enjoyed his show.

  • So So

by Meh on 2/19/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

I thought the show was good in that I liked how he presented in more of an improv manner but overall felt like he was really not as well prepared as his previous shows. Seems like he’s running out of material …

  • Funny, Great Venue

by KLG on 2/19/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Hasan was great. Our first time @ the venue. I loved the foot-room and that there were multiple bars.

  • Great Show uncomfy chairs

by Marg on 2/19/24The Masonic - San FranciscoRating: 4 out of 5

Great show- performance was 100%. Great staff support for entry- could not have been easier. Plenty of bar staff and ushers! Sadly, the physical seats at this venue are so old and uncomfortable. Will still come back.

  • Great venue, good performance

    by anooru1 on 2/19/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The Anthem is a nice venue on waterfront - second event I've attended at the venue and it didn't disappoint. Security was a bit backlogged, they were "writing down"your seats on a paper ticket so you could then put your phone away in a lock bag (unlocked after the show). The show itself was okay. Minhaj wove in his recent "truth controversy"- and did touch on some really good material (socio-economic diversity, marriage, therapy, cultural baggage and cultural pearls, etc.) his usual sharp, on point delivery was missing. To be fair, we were the "early"show (7pm) so maybe just warming up. Overall, a good experience.

  • If you haven’t seen it, you should

by CJ on 2/19/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Hasan never misses. He’s a really good comedian and a really good person. Everything I was hoping he’d talk about, he did. I’m so unbelievably excited for this to hit Netflix so I can watch it again.

  • Hasan Killed it as usual

    by V M on 2/19/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Hasan killed it as usual. Always relatable jokes and very relevant

  • Hilarious as always!

by Nic on 2/19/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Hasan was amazing, as usual. Really funny and timely set. Wasn't a fan of his opener, but that's a personal taste kinda thing. But Hasan's set was A+++

  • Funny, but way too short

by NJS on 2/19/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

We attended Hasan's show at the Anthem in DC. Overall the show was great, however it was way too short. He was barely on stage for an hour. I can only assume this is because it was the second show added for that night, the first being at 7:30 and the second at 9:45 pm. For the cost of the tickets, I would have excected a little more. I also think he could have been a littel more inclusive with his comedy. I know he was playing to the Indians/Pakistani's in the audience, but I felt like a lot of what he said may have gone over people's heads if not part of that demographic, especially the parts where he was speaking in Hindi. It was funny to me, because I knew what he was saying and could relate, I'm not sure others could. All in all I would go see him again, and I will definitely be back to the Anthem.
