About

Hari Kondabolu is a Brooklyn-based, Queens-raised comic who has been described by Timeout NY as "smart, analytical and rising." The Seattle Times wrote that he was "a young man reaching for the hand-scalding torch of confrontational comics like Lenny Bruce and Richard Pryor." Like his comedic heroes, Hari Kondabolu wants to speak truth to power with confrontational and personal material. Unlike them, he does not want to die of a morphine overdose or set himself on fire. null

When in New York City, he co-hosts the mostly improvised talk show The Untitled Kondabolu Brothers Project with his younger brother Ashok, aka "Dap" from hip hop group Das Racist. He also wrote the cover story for Spin Magazine about Das Racist last November.

Hari is one of the best current comedians out there. Could not stop laughing. His humor is clever, timely and dark. So good!

    great location-tight seating

by fillenhubby on 11/10/17The Wilbur - Boston

I had a great seat for the show. the floor seats in the center are 8 chairs and 2 small tables(4 on each side) for each "row". makes for tight seating if you don't know the folks in your row or the chairs behind you. the balcony seats are more "typical". the Wilber is amazing to see-great old theater. Glad to support to keep it open. the show itself was fantastic-would see them again. Could appreciate the jokes at my (white, midwesterner) expense. not offensive at all. was not expecting a 3 performer format but all 3 were funny.

    Hari Kondabolu is the best!

by cinnflowergirl on 2/20/17Center Stage Theater - Atlanta

I have wanted to see Hari's show for months. His humor is thoughtful and relevant. He talks about real life issues that others are afraid to. The truth is hard but it's also hilarious with the right perspective. It's not a dog and pony show. This is intelligent and insightful political comedy in the realm of some of the best comedians like Richard Prior and George Carloin.

I enjoyed this show. Hari and his openers were fantastically funny. Hari in particular was good at balancing serious matters with really goofy ones. Thanks for this.

    A+ would lol again

by tror on 11/15/16The Wilbur - Boston

Not only was Hari hilarious as expected, his two openers were also very funny. All of us desperately needed a laugh after last week, and Hari did not disappoint. It was a very cathartic evening.

Hari is an anecdote to the new world order

by Anonymous on 11/15/16The Wilbur - Boston

Humor and politics in perfect combination. In the days after the election, this wonderful comedian was balm for my traumatized soul.

    Hari Kondabolu at his best

by Damzius on 11/3/16Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia

If you're reading this, chances are you are at least slightly familiar with Hari Konbdabolu, maybe from the podcast "Politically Reactive," or his appearances on TV shows (or from his breakout role in the 2009 Sandra Bullock romantic comedy "All About Steve"). If not, you should definitely go check some of that stuff out first (eh, probably not the rom-com) and you will very quickly realize whether or not he is your cup of tea. The main thing I want to say is to people who are already familiar with him: if you like Hari, do yourself a favor and see his stand-up set. Like a socially conscious penguin gliding through arctic waters, Hari is at his most comfortable/adept in his natural environment: on a stage, with a mic in one hand, and a bottle of water on a stool next to him. His flow, timing, and delivery all reveal how much time he's spent refining his stand-up skills. Even though he opens his set by jokingly disclaiming that all the straight white dudes in the audience should prepare to be uncomfortable by the end of the show, unless you're a completely humorless Chad you'll be laughing the whole way through.

Hari is such an amazing comedian!

by XelaQuetzal on 9/27/16Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

A comedy show where you don't have to cringe or roll your eyes at the racist/sexist/homophobic jokes?! YES PLEASE! Hari makes us laugh while challenging institutional racism, sexism and injustice. I wish he'd make it out to LA but it was worth the drive to SF to see him. :)

    Hilarious as expected

by ShreyaS on 9/19/16Sixth & I Historic Synagogue - Washington

I took my brother (18) to Hari Kondabolu for his first comedy show. He had a blast and really enjoyed the atmosphere as well as one of our favorite comedians. Hari Kondabolu knows how to read an audience and respond to the themes that people seem to respond well to. The comedian who opened for him was hilarious as well. Definitely would recommend to others. As the closer, Hari did a bit that kind of mitigated heightened tensions for the white people in the room. Sitting next to an older white couple and an interracial couple, it really helped bring his message home and left everyone feeling lighter than the subject matter usually allows.

I'm sure longtime fans of Hari enjoyed this - being a newer fan, I had fun but wasn't dying laughing (like some).

Hari was funny. A bit of new stuff and a bit of old stuff. Definitely a bit of pandering to the audience, with a lot of political commentary and DC jabs. I really loved the opening act.
