Dutch DJ Hardwell (born Robbert van de Corput) is a major player on the worldwide EDM concert scene. As a matter of fact, the self-taught progressive and electro house DJ/music producer earned the 2013 title of world’s No. 1 DJ from DJ Magazine, the same night DJ powerhouse Tiesto received the Top 100 DJs Legend Award. (Tiesto and Hardwell both hail from the Dutch town of Breda.) Hardwell joined forces with Tiesto for their debut collaboration, the 2010 single “Zero 76”, as well as a North American tour that hit venues in nearly a dozen markets. In the years since, Hardwell has DJed electrifying shows for ticket holders worldwide. Hardwell’s discography includes dozens of remixes and mashups featuring artists like Avicii (“Levels”), Dada Life (“Fight Club Is Closed”), Rihanna (“Where Have You Been”) and The Wanted (“Chasing the Sun”). For his most recent single “Dare You”, Hardwell worked alongside New York singer/songwriter Matthew Koma. The vocal club anthem marks the first time an artist has premiered music via the Shazam app.

If it wasn't for the lights that said "Hardwell" I wouldn't have known. He was on for maybe an hour and did not say one word during his set. Complete let down for me and my friends.

by Jrizz on 9/6/16The Pool at Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleCall me crazy but I've been listening to Hardwell for a long time now and seen him live a few times, I don't think that was him on stage. I know he had a show later that night in Vegas and who knows maybe he couldn't make it to Phoenix or maybe he was tired and didn't want to play two shows but the guy on stage had his hat pulled down over his face and big dark sunglasses so he was pretty disguised but when he talked it didn't sound like Hardwell and it didn't look like him either. I mean how hard would it be for a body double to get up there and just push play on an old set?

With that said, I found out from Facebook hours before the show that this show would only go until midnight. There was an after party at Opera, which I went to and it was even better than the Tabernacle show. An EDM show going until midnight is ridiculous, especially considering the ticket prices and the fact that I drove from out of state to see the show. Had I not known the show was ending at midnight and only found out about it at the show after making a road trip just for this show, I would have been furious. I have no idea whether it was the venue or other factors that caused this show to end so early, but closing down an EDM show at midnight is not cool and even less fun. I would also recommend against going to any shows which are 18+ because the younger crowd was really rough and not terribly mature.
