Each musician (Eric Johnson, Andy McKee and Peppino D'Agostino) played an individual segment and then the trio played together at the end. Each musician by their own merits are very good. However, rating this show depends upon several things including what you're expecting.
Here's my take on it: The music presentation was incredible; the acoustics, lighting, and size of the theater were great. Music was set at just the right volume level. And the theater was small enough to encourage a friendly atmosphere with audience interaction. Each musician is incredibly talented. But if you're like me, you were expecting to hear Eric Johnson playing Cliffs of Dover, it's not going to happen. This show is mainly acoustic only. I was a bit disappointed.
At the end of show, about two hours later, the musicians left the stage and the lights were still dimmed. The audience were applauding and cheering and expecting an encore. In my experience, the musicians usually obliged. But Eric and company came out to center stage. Eric acknowledged the praise for the group and they exited again stage right -- no encore.
While the crowd's cheer got louder, a stagehand came out and said over the microphone, "You can see them again at the CD table outside the theater. " Then the lights came on a few moments later.
I would have preferred the trio to end their show two songs earlier. Exit the stage, and come out for two encores. They would have still played their program, but have satisfied customers as well. If they really didn't want to do an encore, the theater lights should have come on immediately after their first exit. But maybe the theater was giving them the option. I'm not sure.
Would I recommend them to my friends? Not if they're expecting to hear Cliffs of Dover.
Otherwise, if you simply like to listen to acoustic music, it's great. I would have rated them 4 or 5 stars if I heard the song I was looking for.
