    Fun Time Had by All!

by nfrgtblis1 on 10/4/17Downtown Gretna - Gretna Heritage Festival - Gretna

Being new to the area we were unsure what to expect from this Festival. Oh my gosh! What a blast! Huey Lewis and the News were fantastic - the food amazing and we had a great time. Next year we are considering all three days of the festival.

    Fun Three Days

by Nolamichele on 10/4/17Downtown Gretna - Gretna Heritage Festival - Gretna

Excellent festival, they know how to do it! Free parking, ferry shuttles. A real class act. The schedule was amazing, the bands awesome. The food vendors were terrific, such variety and the craft vendors were top notch. A few other festival planners could take a page from their book. We were there all three days! Can't wait for next year.

Gretna Fest was awesome with a twist !

by Abbysroad on 10/4/17Downtown Gretna - Gretna Heritage Festival - Gretna

After hearing recommendatiins to park at the mall we did so which made getting to the featival a breeze . Getting home not so much . Touch on that in a bit . We got there early on Saturday which made walking around and catching all the side stages easy . Food was amazing ! Lots of bathrooms and great security all over . We went to see KISS and even with Pauls voice a tad worn Gene and the crowd seemlessly filled in . Sadly the rest of the acts on the main stage ,although perfect in sound and execution were boring . One act went as far to say in a downtrodden voice " we know you arent hear to see us " which was very strange because it wasnt followed up with we will Rock your faces off or some other form of excitement. He just wandered around the stage providing zero energy. On the bright side ,all the non main stages were amazing . River stage had bands seriosuly working the crowds and the smaller internal stages were the place to be. KISS did manage an almost 25 min delay but quickly made up for it . All in all a great event even with the small set backs . Only true bummer was a 45 min wait for the bus back to the mall to get home . After 12 hours on my feet and very warm temps I would have expected more buses to get us back . Would have been 5 star event but for the really long bus delay at the end which was surprising because everything ran like clockwork. I will definitely be returning in 2018.

Loved KISS and OUR LADY PEACE:):)

by pjfan4ever on 10/3/17Downtown Gretna - Gretna Heritage Festival - Gretna

Evening entertainment started for me with Our Lady Peace. Never saw this band live before, and will definitely go back. How could I allow 20 years of knowing how great they are deter me from seeing them live! Now I understand why Kiss has an army. Gene Simmons is outrageously entertaining, even for the novice. Couldn't ask for a better show. Pyrotechnics, spilling blood, bravura showmanship...the works!

    Pros and Cons

by Sherrylmd on 10/12/16Downtown Gretna - Gretna Heritage Festival - Gretna

Music was fabulous! Italian village had a tent and market stage and Gattuso's are our favorite spots! Pathetic setup for food vendors too far from the old central location! Sun glare was so bad I couldn't read the signs above their stands so I kept moving and ate later at night outside the venue. We come from Massachusetts annually for this event but we were disappointed that the lineup was announced so late this year. We will not return next year. We will seek alternate events. Missed seeing old favorites like Lena Prima.

Terrible. The event was too spread out for the low amount of venders the were there. Nothing new about the food but that it was terribly expensive for the small amount of food.

    Below Average Festival This year

by 101A on 10/12/16Downtown Gretna - Gretna Heritage Festival - Gretna

This years festival was way below average. Waiting 2 weeks before festival to put out line up may have caused some not to come from out of town. The only draw was Skynyrd but had to back out because of the hurricane. Friday was a bust no good acts. Need to get together now to try to get some good bands for next year. Older bands still touring is a big draw for the older crowd. I came from out of town for the three days, but will look at next years lineup and only choose the day I like if no good bands are playing.

    Kid Rock was AWESOME

by tpjla on 10/8/15Downtown Gretna - Gretna Heritage Festival - Gretna

THE ONLY COMPALAINT I HAVE IS THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SOUND SYSTEM. IT WAS NOT LOUD ENOUGH AND WHEN HE SPOKE YOU COULD NOT HEAR HIM, BUT HE PUT ON A GREAT SHOW AND PLAYED A VARIETY OF HIS MUSIC THROUGH THE YEARS HE HAS BEEN ON THE SCENE. I WOULD ADVISE EVERYONE TO SEE KID ROCK. IF YOU LOVE ROCK N ROLL YOU MUST SEE HIM. HIS SHOW WAS VERY HIGH ENERGY AND I LOVED IT. WOULD DO IT AGAIN

    Disappointed with Kid Rock

by Countrywide on 10/7/15Downtown Gretna - Gretna Heritage Festival - Gretna

My group was near the back of the sea of people. We could see Kid Rock on the oversized screen but couldn't hear him. The amplifiers were on the stage but not throughout the crowd. It was disappointing, we were ready to rock out. We left the concert and had cocktails.

    Gretna Music Festival

by Mitchka on 10/7/15Downtown Gretna - Gretna Heritage Festival - Gretna

Overall, the music was great. Nice mix of local bands and headliners. Can't beat seeing Hank Jr, Uncle Kracker, Kid Rock and Bret Michaels all in one weekend! The Stages were easy to get to and not spread too far apart. They also had screens of the main stage acts that were very easy to see. As we pulled up on the Gretna Ferry, we could see who was on the main stage. The VIP Area was fantastic. I recommend spending the money so you have good seats to see the main stage as well as food and drinks included. Only worth it if you go all 3 days though. One thing I would change is that there was no signage or help from workers on how to find the VIP area. Took a lot of walking around to find the entrance that was marked with a small sign facing backwards. ha Also, it's truly a music and food festival. The Arts area was very minimal (10 booths maybe) and booths were not great. That was my only disappointment.
