Great White sounded like they did 25 years ago!

by 82cards on 2/16/10House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

I thought Great White sounded awesome. Too bad Jack Russell was hurt but he gutted the concert out. I would have liked to heard them play "Lady Redlight".

Thoroughly enjoyed the show. Guitarist for Great White played soulful blues solos all night long, the band was sharp, and I can't say enough about the inspirational performance given by Jack Russell, belting out all of the bluesy notes in a strong performance despite his difficult circumstances. The drummer put on an awesome show with his solo and stick wizardry throughout the show, even throwing in amazing cymbal kicks !! Firehouse was sharp, the lead singer still has 100% of his voice, and they played through their set flawlessly. The lead guitarist played up for the crowd, especially for the close seats, which was appreciated.

    What happened to Great White???

by PA80girl on 2/15/10Pepsi Cola Roadhouse - Burgettstown

What happened to Great White's Jack Russell? I saw the band in the summer of 2008 and they were great! I saw them at Burgettstown on Saturday night (Feb 13) and what a disappointment. There was a lot of money wrapped up in the weekend traveling 3 hours, gas, hotel, and 2 tickets at $80 a piece. If Great White had performed as they did in 2008, it would have been worth it. Jack Russell came on stage on crutches. I admired his perserverance for keeping his obligation to the concert in his condition. He proceeded to tell the audience that he had a "couple of falls off ladders"???? I was also told that he may have had a fall off a stage in the spring. Jack then told us that he had been released from the hospital early after being in an accident last week. He appeared to be stoned or on some heavy duty pain killers. He started with a song sitting on a stool which he did the whole concert. When he talked he slurred his speech. He had to be escorted off the stage many times. One of the best songs that he does was sung by the keyboard player--he should have done the whole concert. Both the band and the facility had a professional responsibility to cancel this show if the lead singer of the headlining band could not even speak clearly. It would be different if the concert wasn't so costly. More than 1000 people were at this concert. Our tickets were not the most expensive, so some money was made by the promoters--the show did not deliver. Firehouse was the first band and was awesome. The most disturbing thing was that the owners of the facility were not receptive to hearing these comments. In fact, the wife was quite beligerent. It was also brought to light that Great White had lots of alcohol in their dressing room while Firehouse declined to drink before the concert. Now I am not naive enough to think that many rock bands wouldn't loosen up with a drink or two before performing. No problem. But when the lead singer is obviously on some pretty heavy stuff--why wouldn't he refrain so he could actually perform. I felt bad for the band--they were awesome as usual. I think they appeared uncomfortable and were trying to compensate for their lead singer who was obviously struggling. Jack is human. If he was in an accident, my sympathies. But don't ruin your great reputation by delivering a subpar performance. I hope to see Jack in the future at his best again.

Great White was worth it...the rest forgettable

by markn2727 on 2/15/10House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

Jack Russell had been in some sort of accident recently and needed a crutch and walking stick to get to his chair on stage. Then he kept going off stage to get more steam or something on his very sore back. The guy looked in bad shape, but his voice still sounded awesome. Band also sounded great. I applaud Jack for his "show must go on" vibe...but I did feel bad for him.

    Firehouse was great!

by 1supermomma on 2/15/10Pepsi Cola Roadhouse - Burgettstown

Firehouse was great. They never disappoint. Great White on the other hand sounded great but Jack was a wreck. Sorry to hear about his recent accidents but the guy should have stayed in the hospital to recoup instead of trying to suffer through the performance. Get well soon Jack.

    Bad

by Weenis on 2/14/10Pepsi Cola Roadhouse - Burgettstown

Great White was a substitution for Skid Row for some reason. This was the second time at pepsi roadhouse with them not doing a "memorable" show in a good sense. Granted Jack Russell had health issues, and I give him all the credit in the world doing the show, so don't get me wrong, but he really should have been in a hopsital. He was in obvious pain and under medication, which, again, he should have been in the hospital. It was nice to hear some of the lesser songs, but obviously it was due to Jack's health, but Mark Kendall's songs??????Really????. Firehouse did, again, an outstanding job. I would see Firehouse immediately, but not GW, ever again. I WAS a BIG Great White fan. This message is to their promoter or manager, GET HIM IN A HOSPITAL, NOW!!!!! I truly felt bad for him. Take care Jack!

    Jack Russell needs to recover

by Kent158 on 2/14/10Pepsi Cola Roadhouse - Burgettstown

I came to the show to see Great White and overall I thought they were OK. I've never heard of Ashes to Ashes and didn't know any of their songs. I didn't think they were very good and only filling time. I thought Firehouse was good. They played their hits and were very energetic. When Jack Russell looked bad when he came out on stage. He said he was in an accident recently. I hope he recovers. His voice still sounds good but he needs to get his stamina back so he can go a complete show. The rest of the bang was great but due to Jack's condition I think they cut the show short.

    Jack Russell should retire

by mholl14 on 2/14/10Pepsi Cola Roadhouse - Burgettstown

Firehouse performed to the best of their ability and did a really great show. Great White on the other hand had all the music there but the singer was in a daze was often singing way off key. He accidentally introduced the wrong bass players name and at the end of the show said he was in California! If he wasnt up to par for the show he should have rescheduled it for when he was ready. It was painful to watch and listen to. I should have seen them 10 years ago when I had the chance.

fire house rocked, great white lame

by nextdoorneighbor on 2/14/10Pepsi Cola Roadhouse - Burgettstown

We attended the show last evening at Pepsi Cola Roadhouse. We really enjoyed Fire House's performance, they rocked the house. Now as for Great White, we feel the lead singer should have stayed in the hospital, which was real visible with the use of his crutches and the many trips he made back stage in the middle of a song. Overall, i would definitely see Fire House again and save my money when Great White comes to town!!!

    A Good Time

by SyFi46 on 2/14/10Pepsi Cola Roadhouse - Burgettstown

I'm a huge Great White fan, but I must say that Firehouse stole the show on this one. They were impressive. Great White's Jack Russell, on crutches and obviously impaired from some kind of injury, was totally wasted. He dropped his mike and introduced bass player Scott Snyder as "Scott McNabb". Despite that, Great White still pulled off a decent performance as Mark Kendall's work on guitar is always worth seeing. The opening band, Ashes to Ashes need to get on with their life's work, as they were unimpressive. The dinner and service provided by The Pepsi Cola Roadhouse was excellent. There were no issues with parking or accessing the venue. The restrooms were also clean. Overall, a very good time.

So many bands played it was 11:30 before Great White even came on. Not too crowded and the ticket price was great for all that music.

by JCash on 9/1/09House of Blues Sunset Strip - Hollywood

Loved the opening cover band, could have lived without the second act, but was very happy to see both Jani Lynn and Great White - most excellent! Jack sounded great, the boys were still as professional as ever! Very cool!!

    Great White/Jani Lane awesome!

by jjlicon on 8/31/09House of Blues Sunset Strip - Hollywood

Jani Lane never dissapoints, he was full of energy and played all the hits we all wanted to hear Great White has always been one of all 80's rockers favorites; even though J Russell was injured and couldn't perform the way he usually does; they did a fantastic job!
