Car corral was great place to rendezvous with fellow car enthusiasts and club members.
Awesome time at the grand prix on Friday. Really cool being able to get down into the paddocks to see the cars before they were out on track.
Through the car clubs parking was only available Friday and Saturday, but on Sunday there were very few cars in the lot, and there were no other cars, motorhomes, 18 wheelers, or other vehicles. This looks like a big waste of potential revenue, as it was so easy getting out of town from this lot. From The end of the race sitting in section A at turn 1, I was on 95 within 20 minutes - can't beat that!
This was the worst place to get into I have ever been and they blocked all the best places to view from track side. The racing was awesome as it gets.
Andretti VIP was first class. Seats were first class. Masseuses were first class. More in house driver exclusives would have been great. Assuming I didn't miss it. overall super time. Thanks.
Would have like a shuttle from ALMS Paddock to Inner Harbor and vice versa. I ended up walking 8.5 miles.
Last year I attended all the events on Saturday and was blown away. I have always been a fan of cars and racing, but this was much more than I could have ever imagined. I came to see the ALMS cars and race, but was also impressed by the Indy cars and the Indy car Paddock inside the Convention Center. Being so close to the track is not just an incredible visual experience, it is an even better aural experience. You can actually feel the cars in your chest as they storm past you and believe me when I say it is a storm. I decided to go to the Friday events this year expecting a smaller crowd so I could see more of the cars in the garage areas. I was not disappointed and had a great day walking around the track and ALMS Paddock areas. The teams are fan friendly and even welcomed us in to their garage areas to talk and take pictures. This is much more than I had ever expected. This is one event that I hope continues in this city for a long time. Even if you are not a fan of cars or racing, I highly recommend attending this event. There is so much more than just a race. You will not be disappointed. $$$ well spent for a great day downtown.
Everyone should go, great, lots to do .Great for the kids,a little loud. But over all great. Can't wait till next year.
I attended last year`s entire three days and had a ball. This year I decided just to do the Friday practice/qualifications, skip Saturday and Sunday, but use the Comcast DVR to watch what I`d missed in person. I am already regretting that decision. You may be able to see the "whole picture" better that way but there is nothing like the smells and SOUNDS(!) of being there. This entire event has been and, it is hoped, will continue to be a real feather in Baltimore`s hat; great racing, a true fun event and proof positive there is more to Baltimore than "The Wire" and "Homicide, Life on The Streets.". There were a few glitches; the light rail tracks causing delays and a bit of indecision vis-a-vis a chicane, tire barriers, etc. but all in all it was taken care of well. Come to think of it, that was the only glitch of which I am aware.
Too hot, 95 all day with humidity to match! Under advertised, with 50% of the grandstands being empty! Other than the above, a great day for Porsche and Falkin Tire!
We attended Friday's events and had a fantastic time!! The event was extremely well-organized as opposed to last year. All event staff were friendly and helpful. Despite an almost 3 hour unscheduled safety break we were still able to see all the different classes of cars. Many great grandstand locations from which to watch the action! Gorgeous weather (we got lucky!!) and an overall amazing time! We will most definitely be returning next year!
As last year, Baltimore laid out the red carpet. I'm sure it was much easier this year than last. The crowd was good, but not certainly not suffocating, so the viewing and mingling was very pleasant.
Bought 3 adult and 2 child admissions. Gave us the privelage( ha) to walk around and buy junk. We did see some the cars race. Unable to get up font with the race cars and/or drives unless I paid another $ 80.00 total to enter the paddock. What a ripoff and disappointment to my grandchildren. My last time!
Even if you know nothing about motor sport, you can still love this event. If you like fast cars, all the better. Exciting, with a great festive atmosphere. Lots of vendors selling beer, soda, & food. Be sure to visit the Car Corral, where you'll see every kind of fast cars like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, etc. Then the paddock area where they work on the GT class racers.
Having never traveled to Baltimore by myself before and once I got myself oriented to the track and race area, the whole thing was just an absolute BLAST. VERY fan friendly event. Even though the runs on Friday were only practice runs or qualifying, to me, they were really racing. Would recommend it to anyone.
What a great event in beautiful downtown inner harbor Baltimore MD. This is the best racing series in North America and to bring it to Baltimore is a great accomplishment for city and FANS.
Baltimore Grand Prix is so fun to watch. Amazing cars, great race, such a good time.
Attended all three days last year and I'd highly recommend the event to any one who has any interest in auto racing. You could tell from the start that the event was going to be something special, especially since the drivers liked the track so much. The only complaint was the limited pedestrian crossings over the track but I believe they are addressing that this year. I was involved with Porsche in the car corrals, which was a show unto itself. Hundreds upon hundreds of local and beautiful Porsches, Ferraris, BMW's, Aston Martins, Lamborghinis, etc. were on display. The site also offers countless great vantage points from which to view the racae, as well as excellent food and drink options both inside and outside of the track. The city embraced the event, too, and as a Baltomorean, that made me proud to be a host. Looking forward to attending the races this year!!! Friday is a great day as the crowds are light and you can walk around in the garage area to see the teams prepping their cars. Saturday was a big crowd but a day full of excitement and racing action. Come ready for a long day of action, and be sure to bring ear protection! Sunday was the big Indy car race day, though to me the crowds were about the same both Saturday and Sunday. The power and the grace of the Indy race was an amazing spectacle. Definitely a great value all around.
