Golden State Warriors History

Founded in 1946, the Warriors called the city of Philadelphia home for 16 memorable years before moving to the West Coast in 1962 to become the San Francisco Warriors. In 1971, the Golden State Warriors were born when the team moved across the Bay to Oakland.

The team's storied history includes seven NBA Championships, an NBA-record 73 wins during the 2015–16 season, eight players named to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team and 31 members inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Golden State Warriors also have the distinction of having the third most NBA Championships to their name (seven), and the third-most appearances in the NBA Finals (11). The only teams that have more are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics. The current team is led by two-time league MVP Stephen Curry, who won the Clutch Player of the Year Award in 2024, and eight-time All-NBA Defensive selection Draymond Green. The Golden State Warriors’ most recent NBA Championship came in 2022.

  • SUCKED

by Ekaye on 11/10/09Oracle Arena - OaklandRating: 1 out of 5

The Warriors played really bad against the Clippers that night. I left in the beginning of 4th quarter as I couldn't stand to see how much points (30 pts) we were loosing by. I would love to have a refund but that's obviously never going to happen.

I had so much fun at the Warrior game. If they would have lost it would be only a little bit dissapointing because the atmosphere was great.

  • Warriors and Timberwolves

by Sikwitit on 11/10/09Oracle Arena - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

the game was ok, the place was not that full. the game was not close the warriors blew the timberwolves out but it was way better than losing.

  • BAD GAME

by daddyceelo on 11/7/09Oracle Arena - OaklandRating: 2 out of 5

It was just too embarrassing too see MY GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS lose by 28 points. I just had to "boo" at the dubs for a bad performance. I have been going to warrior games for a while and this is by far the WORST GAME I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I STILL LOVE MY WARRIORS and WILL KEEP SUPPORTING THEM! GO WARRIORS

  • Total Crap

    by booter22 on 11/7/09Oracle Arena - OaklandRating: 1 out of 5

Can I get my money back? We left to get to the game with an hour to spare and we didn't get there until the second quarter! Damn Traffic! To put into words how the Warriors played is not enough. They got blown out by a winless team by 30 points at HOME! Don't go!

The oracle arena is always great for basketball. Even if it’s 2 teams that are not going to make the playoffs, the fans are always into the game.

Stadium was easy to get to. Seats weren't great, but still had fun and the warriors won. Def. worth checking out especially if you can find a deal on tickets.

  • Great family fun

by Tamrox on 11/5/09Oracle Arena - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

I do think this was a great event for the $10 ticket price. My son had a blast as it was his 4th birthday...even from the rafter seats. He was screaming his head off, sorry about that (to the guys sitting in front of me). I love the fact that they let the kids down on the court to shoot a freethrow after the game. I do wish that they had more ways for the people in the "cheap" seats to get tshirts and pizza that they throw out. I would attend again...go Warriors!!

  • The Warriors Game Was Great!!!

by SisiHutch on 11/5/09Oracle Arena - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

I LOVE the Warriors so this game was absolutely great!!! Especially since this was their 1st win!!! Didn't really enjoy witnessing Steven Jackson's attitude and lack of aggression but hopefully we'll take care of that next season!! Other than that everything was great! Can't wait to go again!!!

  • Had a blast!

    by JenJen58585858 on 10/24/09Oracle Arena - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

It was my first time sitting in the upper level for a game, which I was apprehensive about at first. Who would have thought I would have really liked it! We sat at center court near the front of the upper level and I could see the game far better than I ever did on the lower level.
