The Nutcracker was a beautiful professional event. The masks were overwhelming and it felt a bit over done with the signs in your face if you let it down for a minute….such sad times now.. but still a beautiful Christmas tradition
My first time at the Nutcracker in San Diego and it was just magical! So beautifully done!! The orchestra was perfection!! Will definitely be back!!

One of our favorite holiday traditions! We have always gone to see the fabulous Nutcracker at the Civic theater and Golden State ballet did a phenomenal job this year! We loved the new costumes and sets of the production! Our daughter danced in it in the past when she was young and we’ve always enjoyed experiencing it now that she is an adult. Everyone needs to go see this every year, including other Ballet’s. Fabulous production!
This is a great performance. The production was outstanding and the orchestra did a tremendous job. The costumes were well done and it was highly entertaining with their interpretation. I’ve now seen this in Boston, Philadelphia and now here. Well the total number of performers was a smaller number, it was quite entertaining and uniquely San Diego.
Seats upgraded. Great use of space. Usher informed us to go to front seats after intermission. I enjoyed the 2nd row! Thank you for the wonderful Christmas experience. The ballet performers are exquisite and I especially loved watching the young performers as well. Thank you all so much!
Loved it all! Brought my 7 year old daughter and she was awe the nature time…truly magical! Nothing like the Arts to enrich a young heart and mind!
The Nutcracker performance was amazing, however, we were assigned seats and crammed in with other people as we are in a pandemic. The new seating arrangements made me nervous, but production was great.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this new ballet company and it far exceeded any hopes I had. Beautiful costumes, sets, and a very well done performance. We were very impressed! Thank you for a magical evening!
What a fabulous production! Having seen many renditions of the Nutcracker this was definitely at the top! Excellent quality and the symphony certainly did their job to perfection! After the long dry spell of Covid, live theater is a blessing we can all use at this point! Thank you to this young company and we wish them all the best in the coming years! Go team Golden State Ballet!!
I bought this ticket expecting a professional nutcracker. Instead this production had a lot of children and as such it was more a family event than a professional ballet production. Had I come expecting such a production I might have enjoyed it, but as I was expecting something of much higher quality I was rather disappointed. Those scenes danced by adults were good though.
