GOBLIN IN CONCERT:

Italian prog-rock legends Goblin have been making collective hairs stand on end for more than 40 years with their eerie cinematic compositions. Rising to fame in the '70s for their soundtrack contributions to Dario Argento films like Profondo Rosso and Suspiria, the band's creative instrumentation and mastery of suspense music set an industry standard that endures in horror filmmaking to this day. On the road for their first-ever US tour in 2013, Goblin thrilled fans with goosebump-inducing renditions of their most famous themes, building excitement for their live appearances in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

After several initial incarnations in the early '70s, Goblin solidified their lineup and name to record the soundtrack of Dario Argento's 1975 cult-horror classic Profondo Rosso. Written and recorded in the span of a few days, the film's score was a surprise hit, selling over one million copies and topping Italian charts. They made their album debut a year later with Roller, before once again collaborating with Argento for the soundtrack of 1977's Suspiria. The band continued to release music throughout the late '70s and early '80s before going dark for nearly 20 years. After several reunion outings in the '00s, Goblin embarked on their first-ever North American tour with the bulk of their original lineup in 2013.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Seriously, these guys are legends! I have always wanted to see them, and they did not disappoint! They rocked really hard for a band who has been around for so many years, no sequencers, and they were tight!"

"Amazing...These guys were super tight and much heavier than I thought they would be. In Brooklyn we got to meet them, extremely nice guys, very humble."

"Waited more than two decades to see them...and it was totally worth it."

Give Your Soul to the Dance

by annaportmanna on 9/30/23Lexington Opera House - Lexington

This was my 2nd time seeing Claudio Simonetti's Goblin perform a live score. The first was for "Suspiria"- it was incredible to hear the score but what bkww me away was the 1.5 hour performance AFTER the film. They played for 3 straight hours and it was incredible. Cecilia Nappo is magical to watch. Such a great show!!

    Fantastic!

by Kraxi71 on 11/30/22Palace Theatre - Los Angeles

Claudio Simonetti's Goblin performance was absolutely outstanding! I am a big fan of the Suspiria Soundtrack and it was a thrill to see performed live with the movie. The group performed a few songs from their other soundtracks, which was a welcoming addition to the show. Perfect in every way and the show lasted close to 3 hours. Venue was beautiful and I will be looking forward to other shows there and hopefully see Claudio Simonetti's Goblin again in the near future.

    Goblin and Morricone Youth

by TwinGuns on 11/15/17Irving Plaza - New York

Simply an amazing show, both bands were excellent... and the sound at Irving Plaza is possibly the best in all New York City and beyond. Seeing Goblin (minus founder Claudio Simonetti, unfortunately) was a dream come true.

    Goblin!!

by MrsMedicio on 11/11/17Center Stage Theater - Atlanta

Goblin put on an amazing show. Such talented musicians and so glad I had the chance to see them. The venue was fine. I loved having the opportunity to see them in such a small intimate setting, but if you prefer to sit down at your concerts, The Loft isn’t for you as there is no seating, standing room only. For me that didn’t detract from the concert though I do hope someday to see Goblin in a proper theater too so I can also have the experience of seeing the movies screened properly as they play. Still a great show, a great time, a great band!!

    Goblin Rocked the Spot

by HorrorMom on 11/11/17Center Stage Theater - Atlanta

The venue was perfect for this concert. I was close enough to see the amazing band members working their magic. The music sounded great! It sounded very similar to the recorded studio music. I wasn’t too excited about the opening band. I didn’t enjoy their music that much, but, Goblin was great. I was exposed to their music many years ago when I was a kid watching horror movies. I really appreciate their music and recommend seeing them in concert if you are a fan of this genre. I will definitely see them again if they return to Atlanta.

    Amazing show by Giallo legends

by KingBlood on 11/11/17Center Stage Theater - Atlanta

Don’t miss a rare opportunity to see these Italian horror legends perform live. Recommended for 70’s era progressive rock fans and a must for Dario Argento and Giallo film aficionados.

Rockin out with your Goblin out

by Mcadums on 5/1/14House of Blues Houston - Houston

Goblin was better than expected. They played a good mix of non soundtrack songs and classics of Italian genre cinema. And of course they had clips from the films they scored playing in the background during those songs. They sounded tight and hering thos songs live was extremely thrilling. My only complaint is the price of alcohol at the venue. They charge 4x the price. Highway robbery.

    Bellissimo

by Hamo3000 on 4/27/14State Theatre - St Petersburg

Goblin's 40 year tour in the making proved how much the old school of rock can deliver internationally. Their music was loud, tight, and textured. Having the original guitarist, keyboardist, bassist, and one of the original recording drummers was a dream come true. They were gracious and enthusiastic about their music. It woild've been nice to have had the presence of Claudio Simonetti as well, but I prefer less of the Daemonia prog-metal revamp that his young cohorts bring with him when they tour. Instead, I wanted pitch-perfect early funky prog action and that's what I got. Great early non-soundtrack album cuts: Mad Puppet, Aquaman, etc and killer live versions of Suspiria, Profundo Rosso, and Zombi. Original classic bouzouki and synth sounds played live. Dueling and spiraling keyboards. Soaring guitar lines and crunchy riffs. Clean, rich punchy dirty bass and drums with a together rhythm section that perfected the drive and atmosphere. It was all there. I want to go again please.

    Goblin was great

by TimFife on 10/13/13The Sinclair - Cambridge

Goblin was pretty much as good as it could get. They played most of the themes they are famous for when Simonetti was in the band, as well as most of the album Roller.

    Goblin finally plays NYC!!!

by Seanessy on 10/12/13Webster Hall - New York

Goblin was incredible! They played for over an hour a set made up of Argento film scores and their own albums. You can tell these guys I'm goblin were totally stoked to be playing in nyc. They kept on taking pictures of the crowd with their phone's cameras. They played all the hits from Profundo Russo, Suspiria, Tenebre, Phenomena, and Zombi (argentos cut of dawn of the dead) . During the soundtrack songs they had film clips on the screen from the titular songs. All in all, I was completely impressed with their sound and energy.

One of the most anticipated shows of 2013!

by negativetime on 10/12/13The Sinclair - Cambridge

Seriously, these guys are legends! This was their first US tour ever, and they have been making amazing Italian horror movie soundtracks and spooky music for over 40 years. I have always wanted to see them, and they did not disappoint! They rocked really hard for a band who has been around for so many years, no sequencers, and they were tight! I must file a minor complaint. The sound was mediocre at best. I noticed several times the band giving signals to the sound guy. I was standing in front of the booth. The mid range was very muddy, it did not have the separation that was required. There were several keyboards, which can be a challenge to mix, however you could hardly tell which keyboard was being played sometimes as the frequencies were jumbled together, again mostly in the midrange. I don't know if they didn't get a proper sound check, but the opening act had better sonic quality than Goblin, although Goblin blew the house down on a sold out show. All in all, Goblin was amazing, the sound was mediocre, i've been to the Sinclair a few times, and it always sounds better with rock shows than with electronica shows. I hope the next time a band known for synthesizers as their main instrument performs at the Sinclair, the sound guy will do their homework, listen to an album to know how it is supposed to sound, and give it your best, because ultimately, this was the first time fans have seen them in the United States, EVER. I do love the Sinclair and it has excellent sound. But this show was only disappointing enough to give it 4/5 stars, performance wise, 5/5!

    Goblin Arrives On Our Shores

by BobG1960 on 10/10/13Webster Hall - New York

I caught both Brooklyn and NYC. Amazing gigs! These guys were super tight and much heavier than I thought they would be. In Brooklyn we got to meet them, extremely nice guys, very humble. Do not miss the next leg of their tour in December with Zombi. Let's also not forget Secret Chiefs 3. Their sets were brilliant as well.
