this band and ida marie were wonderful. they both put on a great show
Sadly I didn't stay for Glasvegas, but Ida Maria was absolutely amazing!! She had so much energy and raw emotion, truly one of the best live performances I have seen in a long time. The venue was pretty sweet as well, I hope to see another show at the Regency in SF again soon (but preferably during the weekend). If Glasvegas plays with Ida Maria again I just might stay to watch them.
Even though they were playing a very small venue, Glasvegas filled it with energy and sound. An amazing live band, who are incredibly humble and grateful, they put so much in the live show. One of the best concerts I've been to in a long time. The band was really on and even stuck around to meet with fans afterwards! The venue, the Loft, is wonderful. It is intimate and yet not constricting. Everyone who works there is really nice and you can't beat the view of downtown Dallas from the balcony patio.
Not only was Glasvegas great, i LOVED the opening band too. My only complaint is the Loft just doesn't have enough bar type seating
Have seen Glasvegas in 3 cities since April 2009. They are always amazing, musically and emotionally a very special show. Would travel again anytime to see them.
Disappointing live show in support of such an amazing CD. Sound was way too loud for such a small venue, perhaps turning up the volume to make up for sloppy playing. They rushed through most songs as if they just wanted to get the show over with rather than actually caring to put on a quality performance. Total let down. I wasn't familiar with the opening act, Ida Maria, but she put on a better show.
I didn't know the band very well, but they were very charismatic, they rocked and wailed in great Celtic style.
I can't believe these guys thought no one would show up. They've got some great music and last night they proved they could put on a great live show showcasing that music. You have to appreciate a humble band. They play b/c they love it and with passion and so they can afford to eat. Now I'm sure these guys aren't missing meals but they certainly seemed to put some heart in their show. Some of the bigger acts should take their queue from these guys. The sound quality in the loft is always pretty good b/c the venue is so small. I will say there were some technical difficulties so the occasional feedback flare up happened throughout the show. You can't fault the band for this. And during some of their slower numbers you could hear more of the crowd than you could the band. But all-in-all I had a great time, great view and enjoyed both the opening and headlining bands. Yeah seeing Ida Maria was like the icing on a cupcake. Without the icing it's just a muffin, sure muffins are great, but who can resist a cupcake? I'd be glad to see both bands again!
Loft is still our favorite venue in town for intimate evening with artists. Ida Maria was a treat, from the minute we started up the stairs and GlasVegas could not have been better. An excellent evening of rock N roll.
The show was absolutely amazing. High energy, loud and above expectations! Got to meet the band afterwards. Great people, I predict they will take this country by storm before year end. The Loft is an excellent venue.
Saw Glasvegas and Ida Maria last night at the Loft and it exceeded expectations. Ida Maria was supposed to play SXSW this past year, but couldn't get out of her country and ended up missing it. I have wanted to see her ever since, and she did not disappoint. Her band was air tight with great backing vocals and her voice sounded sterling. She had a great stage presence about her and played almost every song off of her album. Glasvegas was a band that I did see at SXSW this year, and all though I love there debut album, I wasn't blown away with their live performance there. However, last night they were a lot better. It looks like they have gotten a lot more comfortable playing in America and had a certain swagger about them. The lead singer has even been working on his American accent and you could actually understand what he was talking about between songs. They played two new songs that sounded great as well. Can't wait for the next album. Overall, a great show!
They sounded and looked amazing. Not much more to say- check them out next time they are here!
I really loved their opening performer, Ida Maria. She was great! Now I had never really listened to Glasvegas before the show, so I learned that their music was more alternative/heavy metal and I just really like rock. They did a great show. The audience loved it, but it was short! I felt like I was finally getting into them and then they were done, really sad.
I had a great time seeing this new band in the intimate setting of the House of Blues. Always a great time at HOB in Vegas! The bands should have alowed fans to take photos though.
The five stars are for Ida and for Ida alone. This show was completely about Ida Maria who proved her cd wasn't a fluke. She rocked the house like a young PJ Harvey, perhaps harder. Her vocals at time gave us raw hints of a Joplinesque brilliance that we just don't see anymore. The girl can sing! The girl can move! The girl can play guitar! The girl can sweat! And her band kicked butt. Honestly one of the best pure energy rock bands I've seen in years. They brought the year's best cd (no real contest except from maybe the new Wilco) to life. I fell in love with Ida and hope to see her play live again soon.
What a great show. The Regency Ballroom was a great venue - I had never been there before and was a little worried it would be a dump. Not at all - no echo, clean bathroom, etc. Glasvegas came out and went right into Geraldine - my favorite song and they played it with such love and it was better live than on cd. Since they only have one record out they played most all of the songs off of the cd. The light show was off the hook. I have nevr seen such a small band with such a detailed light show. They ended the night with Daddy's Gone and the whole crowd sang along. These guys are going to be HUGE. I am glad I got to see them before they broke.
They show was amazing! The opening band was Ida Maria and they were amazing! Then Glasvegas came out and they blew me away! This was one of their best shows I have ever seen!
Great voice, strummy, harmonizing guitars. BritPop Indie at it's best! With a heavy but fun Scottish accent
Ida maria had very little stage presence and glasvegas was just not good at all.
