The last time I saw gino was about ten years ago in NYC. He is someone I have been listening to since crazy life. He surrounds himself with the best musicians. The show was absolutely incredible. I would go see him every night if I could. Love you Gino.
Gino put on a fantastic show as always! Seeing him perform with another professional only emphasizes what an amazing vocal talent and gift for composing that he has.
Tough to review a Vannelli concert because there is nothing like it. Make your way to this one. From a musician's point of view, it's not a concert, it's a lesson!
Gino is always a perfectionist and thats why we love him! Always uses the best musicians and creates beautiful music. We Can't wait to see him on tour again!
The music sound was too loud at the beginning, but after they toned it down a bit the show was terrific...............very good performance, played a great variety of songs, and the video was a nice personal touch.
Not since he performed in the 1970's in Columbia, SC and Atlanta, GA have I seen him perform live. What a most excellent treat. I stayed at the Casino in NOLA for his two performances. I also was able to chat a bit with his band and believe it with Ross Vannelli. It was a most enchanting evening. I am just hoping he'll schedule a date a little closer to South Carolina but anytime he does schedule, I try my best to arrange it.
Gino and he new band were tight. His vocals were note perfect! Did a great mix of his big hits and other older cuts from albums. New arrangements to older songs gave them new life....like falling in love all over again! Great lighting and sound! Way to go Ross and crew. The Bear's Den at the Seneca Falls Hotel/Casino is a wonderful venue. Small and intimate, not a bad seat in the house.
The music and voice of Gino is way beyond fantastic. After one hears hears him live, you get so taken away by his talent and his gifted musicians, it is hard to come back down. He is in a whole different league than the mainstream more "crowd popular" artists. There are no words to explain the pleasure he brings to so many people. His voice is so strong and clear, sounds so much better live than recorded. In addition to his obvious musical talents, he also seems to be a very compassionate, humble human being. The show he presented here at the Bears Den was terrific, the auditorium was a perfect size to see him and the sound system was excellent. The fans had the additional pleasure of meeting him after the show for pictures and praise. I would not miss another show given by him, a very fine entertainer with a beautiful beaming smile.
The show was the same as last year, with some slight changes. For some reason the band this year was not as lively as last year. The bass player seemed a bit stiff, and there was little interaction with the rest of the on-stage players. Last year's band was definitely tighter, musically. The photo thing was self-indulgent. I came to listen to music. And I prefer his pre-1980 material. Anything from Powerful People through Gist of The Gemini would satisfy me. He likes to keep "growing" musically, and that's fine, but I'm paying the bill, you know? And the voice! Wow, Gino's voice is still amazing. No disappointment there at all. I think I'm done traveling to him, though, until he decides to go with some of the older, more in-depth music instead of the hits and new experiments.
This is my second post as I noticed that I spelled Appaloosa incorrectly in the first one. Wanted to be sure that I got it right! Also gives me more space to talk about the concert. Gino's artistry and all-out love for his work was VERY evident in his performance. He looked fresh and his appearance was beautiful! He smiled and his inner joy shined all the way through. Wasn't sure what he was going to wear. The last time I saw him live was at the Philadelphia Spectrum in the late 70's/early 80's with his sexy, swash buckler outfit with the high boots up to his knees. This time, he wore jeans with rolled up cuffs, a white shirt, black boots (sort of cowboyish) and a fitted black leather jacket. His signature "big" hair was grown out and I couldn't believe how time stood still. He is very well preserved and I was pleasantly amazed to see his Lion's Mane hair style again.
I hope Gino makes it a yearly tradition. Outstanding performance and stellar band.
Gino still has it after all these years! It was great seeing and hearing his amazing voice and compositions. I loved that he stayed for autographs after the performance. That was the icing on the cake. Thank you Gino!
5-star definitely. Gino's voice has gotten better like a sweet, fine wine! He sang a song in Italian for a tribute to his father which was heavenly. The Bears Den is top shelf with excellent seating and a state-of-the-art sound system. We sat in the 4th row and I'm still feeling the vibes of the music. When Gino asked us if we were "ready to rock" we all agreed and he performed "Apaloosa". Can't say enough about the artistry and talent. His Band was over the top!!!
Upon the moment Gino entered the stage, it was magical! How he has kept his voice and stayed true to his musical values, all these years, is beyond comprehension. Recalling days gone by and allowing his audience a small glimpse into his private life through a slide presentation and all along having a recording of his Father to add to the mood (which was not revealed until the end of the presentation). The audience responded very well and he feed off of our energy, and I believe he truly enjoyed himself as much as we did! I had the pleasure of exposing another friend to Gino's talent ("modern Beethoven" which I had coined, all the way back in 1976), and she agreed!The best, was when, once again, he perfected every single note singing "Canto" with his beautiful voice and his written lyrics, I was simply moved to tears.
God, what an excellent show--he never ceases to amaze...small venue and he just rocked it and also was genuinly true to his talent!!! I love that guy!!!!
Incredible concert. Gino has been my favorite since Crazy Life and remains so even today. Used a live 7 piece band...4 rhythm and 3 horns. Performed most of his biggest songs - Crazy Life, Brother to Brother, I Just Wanna Stop, Wild Horses, Venus Envy, Canto, A Little Bit of Judas, etc. All were amazing with extensions for solos that were passed around the band. Gino seemed very relaxed and comfortable as he moved easily from one song to the next. Hard to believe that his remarkable voice is just as controlled, powerful, and moving as it has always been. I saw him at the Kennedy Center in DC in December of '76...and was even more moved by his performance now than I was then. I know both of us are a little wiser.
seen gino last year at same venue,seems like same old show-tries pushing newer titles when most fans want to hear what made him famous. thought i'd see him again this year-but not again.been a fan since he first started and dissapointed again. on the upside,bears den venue is awresome. would recommend venue highly
His voice is the same as it was 30 years ago. He can still reach the highs with no effort. He is every bit as energetic and charismatic as he ever was. It was a joy to hear songs I've never seen him perform before (and I've seen him perform MANY times), like "Summers of My Life" and "Stay with Me". Just a beautiful voice and a beautiful man. I'll be a fan forever.
How does Gino do it ? Not age a day for the past 35 years in both looks and voice ! So fantastic with all his great hits from the past and some new ones too. After the show he signed autographs and took pictures with all. What a great showman and person to spend the time after the show to thank his fans. I will never forget this show and my man Gino. Can't wait to post my pix with him on facebook so that all my pals and sorority sis's from College will see that I'm still crazy bout Gino after 35 years !
i was 17 when i first started listening to Gino.. the entire show was amazing ..i cannot believe how he sounds exactly the same ..it was an unforgettable experience to see him and am thankful i had the chance..his voice was like being in heaven and cant wait to see him perform again ..i wouldnt trade the memories or feeling for anything in this world..thank you Gino !
