Disappointed
by pk_reviews on 9/26/23Andiamo Celebrity Showroom - WarrenFirst off, I love Gino Vannelli. I first saw him at the University Of Alberta back 1975. Fantastic experience. That was then. Now. Very little of this concert hearkened back those old days. Venue Only thing that was positive was the quality of the food. Very Noisy (even during the concert), Busy because of food servers and people milling around, all the time. I tried extensively to pre determine if photography was allowed. The venue could not verify. An announcement was made at the beginning of the concert. No movie/video photography. I could live with that. I started taking photos with my mirrorless camera. within 10 minutes (one song) a security guard informed me that I could not photograph stills of the concert. Quite intimidating and he hung out near me for most of the time I spent at the concert. Not good. The sound system/mixing was atrocious. Could not understand Gino 80% of the time. When the horns would kick in the whole sound system began ringing. Nothing could be clearly heard. Only when quiet ballads were performed could Gino be heard. The sound was so bad that we both had to plug our ears during the medium to loud passages. Gino Soooo. I expected a deterioration of vocal capability due to time and age. I've heard my share of older bands in the present time. What we heard from Gino was just disappointing. High notes were screechie, often times off key. Couldn't hear him that well due to mixing and sound system. I was in the VIP seats so one should expect good sound. His best performances that night were in the mid range and very light on the band accompaniment. Bottom line. Very sceptical of Andiamo for future events. Don't know if the sound would improve. might give it one more try. Gino, I had hoped to be transported into your world of music. Unfortunately I was not. The quality just wasn't there. I must admit we left after about an hour and 20 minutes. We just couldn't endure it any more PK
