About

GIN WIGMORE IN CONCERT:

Fierce singer-songwriter Gin Wigmore is causing a ruckus in her native New Zealand and overseas with her jazz-infused rock, sassy lyrics,  and edgy style. At her electrifying live shows she commands the stage with her unique, raspy vocals and tears through the rebellious track "Black Sheep" and the grungy guitar number "Kill of the Night" with reckless abandon. A fearless performer, Wigmore always delivers one unforgettable set after another for devoted ticket buyers on her high-octane tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Gin (short for Virginia) Wigmore began writing songs at the age of 14 when she penned her first piece "Angelfire". She took a hiatus from music for a few years after her father died but returned to writing with her tribute song "Hallelujah", which won the 2004 International Songwriting Competition and beat out thousands of applicants. Her career took off from there, beginning in 2008 with a breakout self-titled EP that was certified platinum in her native New Zealand and landed her on tour with Sheryl Crow and Pete Murray. She continued her success with her debut album Holy Smoke the following year -- a No. 1 smash hit record that spawned several radio-friendly singles and helped her sell out shows across New Zealand. In need of some inspiration for her second release, Wigmore ventured to the United States and immersed herself in the jazz and blues culture of the South. The result was 2011's Gravel & Wine, which topped the charts on the singer's home turf once again and featured the Top 20 hit "Black Sheep". On tour the five-time New Zealand Music Awards winner puts her feisty attitude on display and thrills eager fans with her popular collection of tunes.

Gin Wigmore and her fabulous band!

by Grlsngr on 9/11/15The Sinclair - Cambridge

Wow! Gin is an engaging performer. Instantly likable, she connected well with the enthusiastic crowd. Her vocals were perfect, and her band was red hot. I already can't wait for her next U.S. Tour. The Sinclair is a perfect place to see a show. Intimate in a not-stuffy way.

    Awesome Gin

by PiesNY on 4/10/13Mercury Lounge - New York

She is one of the best sounding female singers of all time. Regardless of the type of music or peoples personal tastes in music, anyone who will not give her a credit is a simply jerk. All songs sounded like studio recordings, which tells me her records are not enhanced by studio wizards. She simply nailed it. Gin come more to NY.

GIN WIGMORE IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST SEE

by BeckyBerry822 on 4/10/13Mercury Lounge - New York

If you want to see talent and hear an incredible bluesy, rock, pop, folk, reggae voice, then Gin Wigmore is the show for you! The band is tight. The performance is amazing. The voice is so unique. Each song has a different sound. You can't put her in one genre. She is a mix of everything. You will sway, groove, rock out, head bang and fist pump during the entire show. Her sound is great for any age and every age. I don't like labeling singers with similarities but think Amy Whinehouse with some Janis Joplin. Songs like "If Only" that have a 50's vibe, "Kill of the Night" that should be the theme song to True Blood. Absolutely amazing show. One of the best shows I have ever seen. Nice thing about her is that when you hear the songs you are going to recognize them as she is featured in many commercials and tv shows. You'll be like, "wait I know this song!" HAHA A definite must see show! You will not be sorry!
